Chapter 26
C26 – The Beauty Was in Trouble
Despite his efforts, Mo Yanglin remained uneasy.
He couldn’t shake the feeling that something had gone awry during Mo Yangning’s attempt to hunt down Mo Changyou. His most esteemed son, Mo Yangning, might now lie dead at the hands of Mo Changyou.
“Damn it! No matter what, Mo Feng and his son must die!” Mo Yanglin’s fists were clenched, his teeth gritted in anger.
Meanwhile, Mo Changyou was toying with the palm-sized Flying Guillotine in his hand, a faint smile playing across his eyes.
The Flying Guillotine hovered over Mo Changyou’s palm, spinning slowly. It was hard to believe that such a diminutive object could effortlessly take the life of an Energy Condensation Level 7 master.
“Regrettably, today’s spiritual tools haven’t reached their full potential. They’re nothing more than shells of their former glory.” Mo Changyou shook his head in disappointment. In the Heavenly Martial Divine State, most spiritual tools relied solely on the cultivator’s own abilities to function.
Take a Body Refining expert wielding a Sovereign Stage treasure, for instance. They could only match an Energy Condensation Level 7 cultivator at best, limited by the extent of their Spirit Energy.
Such were the constraints of these spiritual weapons.
“In my past life, even the treasures I crafted in passing possessed their own sentience or could store Spirit Energy. Any one of them would be considered a marvel in this world, yet they all fell into White Tiger’s hands!” As he spoke, a subtle killing intent flashed in Mo Changyou’s eyes.
White Tiger was his favorite disciple in his former life. Mo Changyou had treated him like a son, imparting the White Tiger Scripture. It was Mo Changyou who had rescued him from the clutches of the Monarchs and set him on the path to invincibility.
Yet White Tiger had betrayed him, aligning himself with the Forbidden Zone!
“When I reclaim my throne, eradicating you will be my first order of business!” Mo Changyou’s eyes sparked with fierce determination, his intent to kill chillingly clear.
Having been betrayed by Qi Wenya, Mo Changyou now harbored a deep-seated hatred for traitors.
Especially for White Tiger.
As Mo Changyou pondered, a thunderous boom suddenly erupted from afar.
A fearsome lightning bolt cleaved the heavens, detonating amidst the distant mountains. Entire swathes of forest burst apart, utterly obliterated.
From his vantage point, Mo Changyou observed two figures locked in combat high above.
Their collisions set off terrifying sonic booms that reverberated for miles around.
“Is that a Fusion Spirit battle?” Mo Changyou peered at the distant fray, his keen vision instantly recognizing the nature of the clash.
In the era of the Heavenly Book Monarch, not just the Fusion Spirit, but even Sovereigns paled in comparison. Yet, in Black Rock City, a Fusion Spirit was considered a formidable force.
The two figures continued their relentless assault. Mo Changyou could see a woman engaging in fierce combat with a pitch-black Ferocious Beast.
“Could that be the White Crane Scripture?” Mo Changyou paused, taken aback as the woman conjured a spectral white crane that battled the beast in the void.
Her adversary, the Ferocious Beast, was a winged Lion King. Specifically, a Six-winged Lion King, a formidable opponent at the Fusion Spirit stage.
“Is she a descendant of White?” Mo Changyou stroked his chin, lost in thought. Memories of many faces and events surfaced, including that of a young girl who used to eagerly fetch books for him.
?Compelled by the unfolding battle, Mo Changyou advanced towards the conflict. Drawing nearer, he discerned a young girl in a white dress, summoning the white crane phantom to combat the Six-winged Lion King.
Despite the long dress, her striking figure was unmistakable. Wielding twin swords, she relentlessly struck at the Six-winged Lion King before her.
“She truly is White’s descendant,” Mo Changyou recognized at once. The black and white swords, known as the Affection Sword, were his gift to White long ago—one sword designed for offense, the other for defense.
“Lion King, your end comes today!” the girl in the white dress declared coldly, her gaze filled with an intense murderous intent.
“You’re merely a disciple of the Divine Martial Pavilion; do you think you can wound me?” The Lion King retorted with a scornful laugh, speaking in human tongue.
Ferocious Beasts that have reached the Fusion Spirit stage gain the ability to speak. Once they advance to the Energy Condensation stage, they unlock their spiritual intelligence.
“The Divine Martial Pavilion’s trial demands your death; you have no choice but to succumb!” declared the girl in the white dress, her voice cold and unyielding. Her blade danced in her hand, whipping up a fearsome storm that threw the entire void into turmoil.
The two figures clashed repeatedly. The towering Lion King, standing over a hundred feet tall, eclipsed the sun, its massive form imposing.
In addition, it continuously spewed forth jets of purple fire.
“Her prowess is commendable. Despite being at the Middle Spirit Fusion Stage, she handles a Lion King of equal cultivation with skill. If the Lion King doesn’t back down, it’s likely to meet its demise,” Mo Changyou whispered from his hiding spot behind a large tree.
As Mo Changyou had surmised, after a series of collisions, the Six-winged Lion King’s wings were all severed. It retreated violently, its colossal frame crashing into the trees, toppling countless of them.
The girl in the white dress had blood trickling from the corner of her mouth, clearly indicating that, although her combat strength surpassed that of the Six-winged Lion King, her victory had not come easily.
“You’re seeking your own end!” bellowed the wounded Six-winged Lion King, its body drenched in blood, its murderous intent reaching the heavens.
In a flash, scorching flames erupted from its maw, like a volley of dreadful beams piercing the heavens.
The girl’s face contorted with the effort of defending against the onslaught. Holding the Affection Swords, she braced herself against the overwhelming heat.
?”Today, even at the cost of my life, I will ensure you gain nothing from this!” sneered the Six-winged Lion King. In that moment, it struck its chest with its claws.
Suddenly, the Six-winged Lion King’s body exploded. The girl in the white dress, merely twenty feet away, was engulfed in the blast, the powerful shockwave knocking her unconscious.
Meanwhile, Mo Changyou felt something rush into his embrace.
