Chapter 31
Chapter 31
C31 – Iam Sorry!
“Only warriors at the Spirit Fusion Stage or higher could instantly kill a Red Blood Crocodile!” Mo Changyou declared.
It stands to reason that Spirit Fusion Stage Ferocious Beasts wouldn’t roam freely; they mostly reside in the core region of the Darkness Forest. This is due to the sparse Spirit Energy on the outskirts, where the Ferocious Beasts are weaker.
It’s rumored that the Demonic Beasts in the heart of the Darkness Forest are the most formidable, some even rivaling warriors of the Inscription Stage.
Mo Changyou’s statement caused Tang Nuolan some concern. She wasn’t intimidated by Spirit Fusion Stage Ferocious Beasts, but given her current weakened state, if one were to appear, she’d have to depend on Mo Changyou.
“I’ll take the Eternal Snow Lotus and make a swift exit. It’s unwise to linger here too long,” Mo Changyou advised.
At the lakeside, Tang Nuolan nodded in agreement.
Still, it seemed improbable that all the Red Blood Crocodiles had been eliminated. The presence of the snow lotus suggested at least one or two remained. How could Mo Changyou possibly stand a chance against them?
“There are still one or two Red Blood Crocodiles around, and with your current level of cultivation, you’re no match for them. You should get out of here,” Tang Nuolan urged, her concern for Mo Changyou growing.
Mo Changyou remained silent. He executed his movement technique and strode toward the lake’s center. Tang Nuolan watched, her eyes narrowing in intrigue.
“What kind of movement technique is that? He’s actually walking on water,” Tang Nuolan mused, curious. While cultivators at the Spirit Fusion Stage could fly, such agility on water was exceedingly rare.
“Could Mo Changyou truly be the notorious waste of Black Rock City that father mentioned?” Tang Nuolan whispered to herself.
With each step Mo Changyou took, the frigid lake water stirred into gentle ripples. He approached the Eternal Snow Lotus, yet the ripples at his feet persisted.
Something seemed to be lurking beneath the surface.
In that instant, a dark shadow surged from the depths, its massive fangs bared. A gargantuan crocodile’s maw viciously split open right beneath Mo Changyou’s feet.
Ripples spread across the water for several meters. Mo Changyou quickly picked three Eternal Snow Lotuses and, using his movement technique, retreated instantly several meters across the lake’s surface.
It was then that the Red Blood Crocodile’s form came into full view.
This Red Blood Crocodile was at least six meters long, its back covered with a layer of scarlet skin, a signature trait of its kind.
The Red Blood Crocodile’s bite force was formidable. Despite possessing only the strength of Energy Condensation Level 6, it could tear apart the flesh of a warrior at the Spirit Fusion Stage.
“Oh no,” Tang Nuolan murmured, anxiety creeping into her tone. Mo Changyou had quickly become someone of significance to her in the few short hours they had known each other. Seeing him now, grappling with the massive crocodile at Energy Condensation Level 6, she couldn’t help but worry.
“Why must he insist on challenging a Red Blood Crocodile at Energy Condensation Level 6?” Tang Nuolan’s beautiful eyes narrowed in concern. Less than half of her meridians had been restored, leaving her vulnerable; even a novice warrior at Energy Condensation Level 1 could easily end her life.
The Red Blood Crocodile’s back sported six short spines, indicating it was a demonic beast at Energy Condensation Level 6. When those spines turned black, it would signify its advancement to the Spirit Fusion Stage.
Tang Nuolan, observing the battle, clenched her fists, her worry palpable.
Firstly, Mo Changyou had truly become a friend in her eyes. Secondly, if Mo Changyou were to perish here, she would likely share his fate.
Could a warrior at Energy Condensation Level 4 possibly overcome one at Energy Condensation Level 6?
The disparity in their combat power was more than double. Even the top-ranked disciples in the Imperial Capital couldn’t achieve such a feat.
“Is this where I meet my end?” Tang Nuolan whispered to herself, a sense of despair washing over her as she beheld the Red Blood Crocodile.
Where could they possibly flee?
The Red Blood Crocodile was faster than other ferocious beasts of its tier, capable of moving across water with ease.
As Tang Nuolan fumed in frustration, the Red Blood Crocodile was in a frenzied pursuit of Mo Changyou. Having reached Energy Condensation Level 6, it had developed a degree of intelligence. The medicinal herbs it guarded had been stolen, and it was furious.
The Red Blood Crocodile let out a roar, sprinting across the lake’s surface with incredible speed.
“Pity it’s only at Energy Condensation Level 6. Its reactions are too slow,” Mo Changyou assessed silently, watching the creature approach.
“Why is he just standing there, looking lost?” Tang Nuolan was seething with anger.
Yet, Mo Changyou remained still.
Had Tang Nuolan known that Mo Changyou considered the Red Blood Crocodile’s level too low, she might have been so angry she coughed up blood.
As the Red Blood Crocodile closed in, just a foot away from Mo Changyou, Tang Nuolan braced herself, planning to shut her eyes to avoid witnessing Mo Changyou being ripped to shreds.
“Dragon Tiger Fist! Dragon Fist!”
Mo Changyou faced the Red Blood Crocodile’s menacing teeth and channeled the “Battle” Symbol Spell into his Dragon Tiger Fist technique.
In that moment, a three-foot-long golden holy dragon coiled around Mo Changyou’s right arm as he launched his punch.
With that action, a fifth of Mo Changyou’s Spirit Energy was depleted.
The Red Blood Crocodile was blasted away, landing next to Tang Nuolan and creating a massive crater.
“It’s a shame it was slightly weaker; otherwise, it could have fetched a good number of spirit stones,” Mo Changyou mused. Not waiting for Tang Nuolan to open her eyes and regain her composure, he readied the Dragon Tiger Fist again.
“Tiger Fist!” A White Tiger manifested on Mo Changyou’s left arm as he delivered another punch.
Another fifth of his Spirit Energy spent, the Red Blood Crocodile, still unsteady, received another punch from Mo Changyou, resulting in a vast bloody cavity in its head.
“Did Mo Changyou actually win?” Tang Nuolan, startled, could hardly believe the scene before her.
Was Mo Changyou’s power truly at Energy Condensation Level 4?
Had Mo Changyou just defeated the Red Blood Crocodile at Energy Condensation Level 6, causing its immediate demise?
This is just too surreal.
