Chapter 458 - 458 Two Peas in a Pod

458 Two Peas in a Pod

“I hope that money helps them a little” mumbled Genesis as he whistled while walking away, feeling good that he might have done a good deed tonight.

After lending a little helping hand to that grandmother and her probably grandkids, Genesis slowly made his way back to the Inn while enjoying the sights around him.

“Damn, I actually forgot that I wanted to get laid tonight”

As mentioned, his purpose for going out tonight was really just to get laid as he was feeling incredibly horny, but with the advent of those gangsters earlier, he had forgotten all about it, and most especially when he got distracted with all those incredibly delicious street food earlier that getting laid was immediately thrown at the back of his mind.

He just remembered it now as he is making his way back.

“Even though I’ve only explored so little of this place, I have to admit that this city is really beautiful. Though I still wouldn’t even think of living here with the language barrier between the locals and to add, it would be really lonely since I only know one person from this country, with the exception of the aunties that I got acquainted with tonight”

Along the road, Genesis looked at the time on his phone.

“They’ve probably arrived there by now, right?”

Somewhere along the Buksan Mountain.

.....

“The path we’ve taken is really steep, are you sure we’re on the right path?”

Monk finally couldn’t hold it in and asked when he noticed that the path they are taking is getting steeper by the minute.

“...”

“Uhh.actually..I’m not sure”

Sun Bin replied to him after hesitating for a few moments, and what’s worse, she even sounded not sure of her answer which immediately made Monk halt in his tracks and raise his voice at her.

“O-oi! We’ve already got this far and you’re only telling me that now!?”

Monk couldn’t help but raise his voice when he realized that there’s a huge possibility that they are actually lost right now.

“Shut it! It’s been a while since I’ve been to this place” replied Sun Bin, looking a little flustered.

With a snort, Genesis asked, “So how long has that “it’s been a while been”?”

“A few years or so”

“What!? That’s like a really long time already. The terrain probably hasn’t changed much, but the flora certainly did!”

“Just shut up will you? I had left markings here whenever I wanted some alone time on this mountain back in the day. Why do you think I’m taking my time looking around?”

Annoyed by his ramblings, Sun Bin also snapped back at him.

“...”

Soon, there was a short silence between them as they kept trekking through the rugged path.

“Hey Sun Bin, can I ask you something personal?” asked Monk after the short silence.

While hacking away at the dense overgrown bush in front of her, Sun Bin replied, “Yeah, as long as it’s not too personal, why not”

Genesis looked at the busy Sun Bin before him and took in a deep breath before saying, “Well, it’s just this thought suddenly occurred to me while we were walking, and well, it’s getting a little boring and I’ve gotten a little curious too”

“Just spill out already old man”

“Fine, fine, so here goes. You, and Genesis have dated for at least a couple of years, right? But then out of the blue, you two suddenly broke up, and I guess, it’s okay to ask now, so what really happened that night? When you two came back from that job?”

Sun Bin quickly came to an immediate halt when she heard him, so she slowly turned around to face him while taking off her night vision goggles and looking for a rock to sit on.

While Monk on the other hand just watched her with anticipation.

“Well, it’s a long story, but to make it short, Glen killed multiple kids that night in an accident”

Like it’s an everyday thing, Monk wasn’t even fazed finding out Genesis had killed multiple kids.

“That’s it? It’s not like I’ve never killed a kid or two before” replied Monk who immediately became uninterested after hearing her answer, and it’s not because he’s heartless or anything.

It’s just that for people like them in their kind of business, sometimes they also had to do something that would leave a bitter taste in their mouth, something that they would have nightmares about for the first few nights.

Because it’s their job to never leave any variables behind.

“Shut it, don’t even think I don’t know that you and your friends would actually smuggle those kids to foster homes from outside of their country” Sun Bin angrily said to him.

“Genesis told you that? That blabbermouth..!”

Monk was clearly startled by that as he couldn’t help but almost yell in anger.

A little annoyed and finding it a little funny too that someone other than them knows what they did in the past, Monk also looked for a place to sit down and popped a chocolate bar in his mouth and said, “Anyway, just how many did he kill?”

“Ten”

“Cough! Cough! Ten!? Are you sure?”

“Yeah! I remember it like it just happened yesterday”

Incredibly surprised by that number, Monk started coughing on the chocolate he was chewing on while looking at her with skepticism.

“You’re shitting me, aren’t you? If he really killed ten kids that night, then it would have blown out of proportion! That knucklehead wouldn’t be able to take that mental burden if he really killed ten kids!”

He was right, that kind of matter would have really blown out of proportions if it was true. After all, even though they killed people for a living, they are also humans that are wired with kindness and compassion, and like them, there were also a lot who would smuggle the kids of their targets out of the country and some would even go out of the way to leave them with trust funds, of course, using the money of those kid’s parents.

“Oh, did I mention that they were dogs?”

Monk was feeling incredibly angry as he felt betrayed that Genesis had kept such a big secret from them, but then the following words that came out of Sun Bin’s mouth almost made Monk explode in anger and made him curse at her!

“Woman…damn you!”

“What!? Dogs are lives too, those poor puppies wouldn’t have died if that jerk just listened to me and didn’t throw that damn grenade that blew up an entire large section of thathouse!”

“Shut up! Let’s just continue on the road before I utter things that I might regret”

Sun Bin stomped her feet in annoyance, and Monk didn’t see it, that snicker on her face followed by a soft chuckle the moment she turned around from him.

‘Well, it’s quite embarrassing to actually tell him that the reason that we actually broke up is because that bastard just wouldn’t put a ring on me even after five years of dating!’

It’s been over half an hour since they continued their trek under a deafening silence as both never bothered to talk after what happened earlier.

Watching Sun Bin walking in front of him, Genesis, still feeling a little annoyed, said, “I’m just realizing now that you and Genesis are two peas in a pod, both are annoying as heck!”

“Shh, keep your voice down. We’re almost there”
