Chapter 434: The Ghost of the Past
"Carlos!"
With Cathy following behind him, Randy shouted someone's name after pushing the door open to the establishment.
Such a boisterous entrance quickly attracted the patrons inside as all of them immediately turned their heads towards the door and sized up the newcomers.
"What a party" Cathy muttered when she saw the different kinds of people inside, and as someone who had seen many different kinds of people from all sorts of life due to her mother's job, she was able to quickly identify the kind of the people inside.
There were gangsters sitting on a corner table, then there's people who were in black suits sitting in another table, but because of their posture and the intimidating air around them, they are certainly not people who work in an office, so Cathy labeled them as members of a particular mafia group.
Then there's this customer drinking by himself while hiding his face using his hood. Such secretive or maybe just cliche actions made Cathy label the person as a prospective criminal or someone with many enemies, making the person hide behind his hoodie.
And the last kind of people are just ordinary kinds who happen to stumble inside and want to have a drink in the middle of the day.
"Eyyy, Randy! It's been a while buddy! And who's the kid with you?"
Randy smiled at the man behind the bar counter and said, "Oh, she's my daughter. Go look for a seat and don't go anywhere else"
"Uhmm" Cathy nodded in reply before looking for a seat near the entrance, and just sat there and started observing the interior of the place.
While on the other hand, Randy was making his way over to the bar counter while talking.
"I want the Devil's Margarita, on ice!"
The other patrons wondered what kind of drink it was as it was their first time hearing that kind of drink, but no one noticed the cold flicker that appeared for a second in the bartender's eyes.
Randy sat on one of the bar stools and chatted with the nearby patrons as he waited for his drink.
"It's in the middle of the day, but you guys are already here and drinking"
"Says the one who ordered a margarita, hahaha!"
"Well, I came here to meet a friend. So I might as well have one!"
In one corner, Cathy watched as Randy interacted with the other customers, and wondered who he's meeting with, and at the same time, she was amazed how he could casually chat with those mafia members that people would absolutely avoid like a plague when they see them, but here is Randy talking to them like they are old friends.
"I thought he was here to meet a friend? But he's suddenly there drinking and laughing, doesn't seem like he even cares about what happened to Summer"
After a couple of minutes passed, Cathy clearly was annoyed watching Randy chatting and laughing with the others without a care in the world. So her good impression of him just went down by a few levels as she even considered telling her mother that Randy doesn't seem like a good man after all.
Then a change happened as he saw the bartender whispering something in Randy's ears. Then the latter turned his head towards her and mouthed "Stay put" before walking towards a door beside the bar and disappeared to the other side.
Inside, Randy had already started walking down through a dark spiral staircase, and when the man reached the end of the stairs, he saw another door at the other end of the short passageway.
With no hesitation, he walked over and opened the door, revealing a large room filled with luxurious lights like it was some kind of an underground hall for nobles.
But instead of beautiful Victorian windows, crystal chandeliers and those beautiful grand staircases that you would see in the movies, the inside of the place was instead packed with dangerous things.
From the smallest daggers to the most exquisite sabers, handguns to sniper rifles, and even rocket launchers displayed in one corner, and the most eye catching of all was that set of a silver armor displayed in the middle of the spacious room, and beside it was a desk with a computer, books and stacks of documents, and behind the desk is a woman around something forties doing something on the computer, but when she heard the door opening, she quickly looked up and spotted a familiar figure also looking at her.
"Randy? It's been a while since we've seen each other, right?" Recognizing the person, the woman slowly stood up from her seat while talking.
Randy just smiled and slowly walked over towards her while saying, "Yes, it has been exactly a week since the last time we saw each other, Morana"
Then this woman with obvious slavic origins just smiled when she heard him addressing her by her alias and said, "Morana… it's been a while since someone had addressed me by that name. Anyway, seeing you come inside, does this mean that you're coming out of your retirement? After all, it was such a pity when we heard that you were retiring in such a young age"
Smiling slightly, Randy replied, "No, I'm just here to buy information"
When she heard his words, the obvious disappointment in her eyes was clearly visible, and when Randy noticed it, he laughed and said in between, "Ha! Thinking about it now, you probably just wanted me to come out of retirement and rack up commissions through me"
"Hahaha, was that obvious?! I'm sorry about that, it's just one of my young talents suddenly up and disappeared, and went to attend the so-called college MT" Morana replied with a laugh, along while rolling her eyes.
"Are you talking about Michael? Yes, he's a talented kid indeed. It's just a pity that he got into this kind of business at such a young age" Randy said, as he really did feel a little bit sorry about Michael being a hitman at such a young age, even younger than him when he became one.
"You know him? That's surprising"
"Don't make it sound that the organization hadn't been monitoring us since day one, and enough talk, I want information on the people behind the kidnapping of my daughter" Not wanting to waste anymore time, Randy immediately stated his intentions of coming here.
Tink!
Following that, he took out a gold coin from his pocket and showed it to Morana before he handed the coin to her.
"Tsk, you're still boring as ever, and she's not even your real daughter"
"Shut up, she's my daughter whether she's my blood or not. You still haven't changed, you're still talkative as ever, I really wonder what your husband saw in you that he even married the likes of you"
"My beauty of course. Oh my, would you look at this? It seems your life is going to be a little interesting starting today"
Clicking her tongue, Morana annoyingly took the coin from him with a swipe and started typing on her computer, and when the results of her search came up, she was a little startled and immediately printed out the information.
"Please, you'll certainly be surprised" Smiling, Morana gestured at Randy with her hand to take the paper and read it.
Looking at her actions, Randy was slightly skeptical, but he still slowly took the paper from the printer while looking at Morana, and when he read the contents, his eyes slowly widened in surprise before looking at Morana, who slowly muttered the words that sent chills down Randy's spine.
"The ghost of your past have come to haunt you"
