Fated to the Cursed Lycan Prince by Dark Knight

Chapter 1092 Great Scourge

Rufus’ POV:

I sat at my desk and massaged my temples. Too many issues had bothered me lately, and each one of them was responsible for my current headache.

The vampires had managed to infiltrate the werewolf pack, and had even murdered and manipulated an Alpha for a long time, but no one had noticed it.

Such a serious matter didn’t come to light until a few days ago. The situation had become graver than expected.

What was more annoying was that even though I was carrying out the investigations myself, I couldn’t pinpoint the purpose of the vampires right now.

As a result, my only option was to declare curfew across the entire country, strengthen patrols and investigate suspicious people.

However, this solution not only disrupted the movement between packs, but also affected the empire’s economic development.

I had been occupied with this issue for most of the week, and we were already seeing some results. We had captured some vampires that had been hiding among the werewolves.

However, the fact was that the situation among the werewolves was steadily worsening. There were more vampires still concealed that hadn’t been caught.

The longer we took to solve this matter, the more disadvantageous it would be for the werewolves.

I tossed the pen back into the pen stand in irritation and fell back heavily in my chair.

I couldn’t subdue my agitation. At this time, I heard light footsteps at the door.

It was Adela. She had come again.

I felt very disagreeable. She had come here every day this week, and her f0rced intimacy made me particularly uncomfortable.

Being around her didn’t relax me. I preferred to stay alone all day than see her.

I was getting increasingly grumpy. The thought of leaving her far away flitted around rampantly in my mind.

My eyelids twitched violently and my headache worsened.

I did my best to tamp down my repulsion and kept convincing myself that she was the mate designated to me by the Moon Goddess, and I had to be patient and get along well with her…

I slowly got to my feet and looked at Adela who had just entered the study.

I wanted to give her a smile, but no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t do it.

My lips wouldn’t obey me.

Observing her smiling face, my expression became serious. I held back my annoyance and try so hard not to turn my back on her.

The education I had received since childhood taught me that was inappropriate to present my back to a lady.

Adela slowly approached me with a serving tray in her hands and said, “Your Majesty, I’ve prepared your favorite food.”

As Adela’s scent hit my nostrils, I reflexively took a step back.

“Thank you. Just put it on the table,” I said indifferently.

Adela nodded and placed the tray on the other table. “I don’t need your help with anything here. You can go back.” Then I sat back down and was about to continue with my work.

Adela blinked and looked pitiful, as if she was about to burst into tears. She asked, “Your Majesty, do you loathe me so much? You don’t even want to talk to me…”

I raised my head, shot her a frosty glance, and ignored her sad expression. Picking up a document, I dismissively said, “I still have to deal with government affairs. You can leave now.”

“Then, please eat something first. The servants have told me that you’re too busy to have dinner, so I specially cooked a few dishes for you.” Adela was persistent. She picked up the tray of food again and came closer to me with the intention of feeding me. “Health matters the most. How can you skip dinner? Your Majesty, let me feed you.”

“No! Just put it there,”

I hastily stopped her, behaving as if she had the plague. I stood up and quickly walked to the other side of the table.
