Chapter 579: Do Not be Afraid, I Will Protect You
She needed to vent her frustration and anger. She was unable to swallow it all.
Even if the incidents of that day were to repeat herself, she would have done everything all over again. However, she would be a little more discreet in preventing others from taking pictures of the event.
In Yan Qingsi’s world, humans were born to be a little wicked. The heavens created Mary Sues, but she had no part in it.
Even if she went straight down to hell after death... Well, she would think about it when she actually died.
“Are you sure?” Yue Tingfeng asked.
Yan Qingsi nodded. “I’m sure. I won’t give in, and I certainly won’t run away.”
Another fact was that Yan Qingsi could not return to the hospital. What if the Second Elder from the Su family decided to show up then?
She was not afraid of them, of course. She was just afraid that Mrs. Yue would feel sad.
Yan Qingsi liked to see Mrs. Yue’s smile. She liked to listen to her talk. When Mrs. Yue talked, Yan Qingsi had a sense that she was a child again, listening to her mother recite bedtime stories.
Yue Tingfeng gave a peck on Yan Qingsi’s forehead. “All right... I’ll accompany you.”
Yan Qingsi shook her head. “Don’t. You’re a company CEO. You can’t let anybody see you with me. If you show up and someone takes a picture of you, the situation won’t be pretty.”
Others would assume that ‘Oh, no wonder this b*tch is so arrogant! She had been associating herself with the young master of the Yue family.’
Although everyone within her circle knew the truth, the public did not know as nothing had been publicly revealed.
At this moment, Yan Qingsi could not reveal this chink in her armor.
Yue Tingfeng sighed. He could not openly reveal that he was Yan Qingsi’s boyfriend, but he could not be so petty about this right now.
Yue Tingfeng pulled out a mask and a pair of aviator sunglasses and put them on. “How about this? Will they still recognize me?”
Yan Qingsi emitted a low chuckle. She whipped out a black baseball cap from her purse and slapped it on Yue Tingfeng’s head. “Now, they won’t recognize you.”
******
Yue Tingfeng called the hotel’s security before he exited the car, waiting for them to come out first. The reporters were surely going to mob Yan Qingsi, injuring her in the process; thus, he decided to let the security guards create a protective circle first.
They pulled the car up in front of the hotel entrance. Yan Qingsi definitely had a talent for attracting attention, whether good or bad. A horde of reporters stood ready at the entrance, like a pack of hungry hyenas waiting to pounce on their prey.
Yan Qingsi smirked. These reporters had slaved so hard for a single fresh, juicy cut of meat, waiting patiently under this sweltering temperature.
She grabbed the car handle, ready to exit the car. Yue Tingfeng placed his hand on her, stalling her movement.
Yue Tingfeng squeezed her hand tight. “Don’t be afraid. I’ll protect you.”
Before, Yan Qingsi would have answered with, “No need for your protection. Just don’t let me protect you.”
Today though, she nodded. “All right!”
The security guards emerged from the hotel entrance and formed a protective ring around the car. Yue Tingfeng went down first, circling around and opening the door for Yan Qingsi.
The reporters spotted the top of Yan Qingsi’s head and immediately swarmed the car. Fortunately, Yue Tingfeng had called up the hotel security. Otherwise, Yan Qingsi would have been overwhelmed in two seconds.
The shuttering of an army of cameras tapped out a continuous staccato rhythm.
Yue Tingfeng took Yan Qingsi into his arms and slowly made his way towards the hotel entrance.
“Miss Yan, what do you think of the assault being posted on the internet? Did you really assault that actress?” a reporter asked.
Yan Qingsi did not look at him. Encased in Yue Tingfeng’s arms, she wore an impassive mask and said, “I did.”
“Then why did you assault her?”
This reporter’s question was not as sharp. “She deserved it,” answered Yan Qingsi simply.
