Chapter 446: Controlling Wife’s First Appearance (2)
Originally, the crowd had been trying hard to keep their presence low. Upon hearing Mu Tingfeng’s abrupt question, they were so shocked that they nearly burst into tears.
The crowd locked gazes with one another timidly. They were at a loss for a few seconds before they shook their heads in unison.
Looking at the servants who had been scared out of their wits and almost cried out, Zhao Youlin rolled her eyes in resignation. She was helpless with the fact that the certain one always used his status and stoic face to force others to succumb to his will.
Mu Tingfeng nodded with satisfaction upon seeing the crowd’s cooperation. The next moment, he cocked one of his eyebrows and asked coldly, “Are you guys very free now?”
Again, the crowd was in a daze. It took some time for them before they snapped out of their dazes. They bowed at the person, who had exhausted his energy, one after another in a flurry of motion before they turned around and rushed downstairs.
They looked so panicked as if a man-eating monster was coming after them.
While the rest of the servants had fled away, the old butler was the only one who remained.
“Young Master, are you alright? Did you hurt yourself? Do I need to call a doctor?” The old butler had not forgotten that the moment they opened the door, they had been greeted by the sight of Mu Tingfeng sitting on the floor. Besides, judging from their conversations, Mu Tingfeng had been kicked down by Zhao Youlin.
Even though he knew that the young master was not weak and frail, the commotion had been huge and he was worried that the certain one would have truly gotten injured.
Upon hearing the old butler’s words, Zhao Youlin smiled. She crossed her arms and glared at Mu Tingfeng teasingly, “That’s right. Even though I have tried my best not to exert too much force, you have made quite a huge commotion when you fell down from the bed. It must hurt quite badly. Do you need to ask a doctor to check up on you?”
Right after Zhao Youlin spoke, Mu Tingfeng’s expression, which he had taken great pains to resume normalcy, had turned dark once again. He gritted his teeth as he said, “No need.”
Nonsense! He had hurt his vitals. If he had someone to check on him, won’t that reveal to everyone what actually had happened just now?
He was worried that some people would run their mouths off and expose the incident which could be used by ill-intentioned people against him.
And if this happened, before the first ray of light tomorrow, the entire Shalnork would know that the president of Mu Feng Group had been kicked down from the bed because he failed to make love with his ex-wife!
“Are you sure there’s no need for one?” Zhao Youlin intended to make Mu Tingfeng a fool of himself. She naturally would not spare him so easily. “Mu Tingfeng, as you mentioned, that part is vital to a man. Don’t make a decision that you will regret in the future because of the taboo.”
Mu Tingfeng’s expression grew darker. He replied in a very cold and hard tone, “There’s really no need for one!”
Zhao Youlin spread her hands and said nonchalantly, “Fine. Whatever suits you. After all, I’m not the one who got hurt.”
The old butler fell speechless.
Mu Tingfeng was in a fit of rage. He wanted to vent out his anger yet there was no punchbag for him. Therefore, he could only swallow his anger.
Thankfully, Zhao Youlin knew when to stop. Although she was mad and furious, she also did not want to spoil the happiness for the rest of her life.
When she kicked Mu Tingfeng, he only suffered mild pain. She had not really hurt him.
After she had finished what she had wanted to tell him, Zhao Youlin stayed on for lunch upon the old butler’s insistence before she departed from the Mu family’s house.
Mu Tingfeng personally saw Zhao Youlin off. Before she left, Mu Tingfeng abruptly asked, “Regarding all that you’ve told me today, do Madam Zhao and the rest of her group know about it?”
Zhao Youlin turned stiff before she said in a low voice, “They… don’t know.”
“Why don’t you tell them?”
Zhao Youlin clenched her hands dangling by her sides. She did not answer his question.
Mu Tingfeng furrowed his eyebrows. The next moment, he seemed to have understood something. He asked her tentatively, “Are you worried that they might not be able to accept it?”
A bitter smile arched across Zhao Youlin’s lips. He was right. She was afraid that they might not be able to accept it.
The reason Duan Yarong and the rest of her group cared about her was because she was Zhao Youlin, their niece, granddaughter, as well as Duan Yarong’s bosom friend’s biological daughter.
However, imagine if someday, they found out that the person whom they cared so much about had already passed away a very long time ago, while the person before them was only a stranger, who had nothing to do with them at all, but had taken over their beloved one’s body…
She dared not think about the consequences and was also not willing to give any thought to it. Therefore, she only thought of telling this incident to Mu Tingfeng but not to Duan Yarong and the rest of her group.
Mu Tingfeng cast a glance at Zhao Youlin’s expression and immediately knew that he had speculated correctly. He heaved a sigh and said, “You should be more confident of yourself.”
Zhao Youlin shook her head and smiled. “About this matter, you have to keep it a secret and not spill it out to anyone.”
Mu Tingfeng hesitated for a while. In the end, he nodded. After all, this was Zhao Youlin’s choice. He did not have much to say in it.
“Regarding our remarriage, I will inform my parents. You can also mention this to Mr. Mu and Madam Mu. After all…”
Mu Tingfeng’s eyes immediately sparkled and said faintly, “When we meet up next time, I hope you can greet them as your father and mothers-in-law.”
Zhao Youlin froze. The temperature on her face quickly shot up. She glared at him furiously and shouted at the driver in front of him sullenly, “Let’s go home.”
Looking at the car’s disappearing silhouette, the image of Zhao Youlin’s reddened face unwittingly appeared in Mu Tingfeng’s mind. A smile grew increasingly prominent on his face.
Even though some things had progressed in an unexpected manner, the fact that the expectation of looking for Mu Tingfeng had turned out pleasantly.
Finally, Zhao Youlin could weigh down another burden in her heart. She lightly heaved a sigh of relief while in the middle of her busy work.
Zhao Youlin had taken great pains to settle the entanglement between herself and Mu Tingfeng. She was in a good mood. However, when she arrived at the company’s main entrance, she bumped into Su He who was dashing in a hurry from the outside.
“Xiao He, you’ve come back. How are you?” As she recalled that Su He had applied for sick leave two days ago, Zhao Youlin asked with concern.
Su He had never thought she would run into Zhao Youlin the moment she returned to the company. She smiled as she said, “I’m much better now. General Manager, thank you for your concern.”
Zhao Youlin sized Su He up discreetly. She found that Su He had looked much thinner compared to last time. However, her complexion was much better than the last.
“Glad to hear that.”
They walked inside the building while chatting with each other. Suddenly, Zhao Youlin blurted out faintly, “Xiao He, do you know President Ye?”
Su He had never thought Zhao Youlin would abruptly ask her this question. Her expression instantly changed. It had taken her a while before she snapped out of her daze and said stiffly, “An acquaintance… This was due to the company’s arrangement whereby I’m required to serve President Ye several times before this. However, we are not very close with each other.”
“Oh, it looks like I’ve overthought it.” Zhao Youlin nodded and acted as if she had fully trusted in her.
She carefully observed the changes in Su He’s expression through her peripheral vision. When she noticed Su He heaving a sigh of relief after hearing her words, a glimpse of bone-chilling light flashed across Zhao Youlin’s eyes.
It looked like she had speculated correctly. Her secretary’s relationship with Ye Yan… might not be as simple as they appeared to be.
