Chapter 1073

Estelle’s eyes were icy cold. “But for the past two years, Charlie has never sought Emily. Perhaps he’s forgotten about her. Even if he knows about Kya, so what? Does he think he can recognize his own kid, or that he could marry Emily?”

If he couldn’t marry Emily, but was so fond of Kya, it’d be a disaster for Emily as he might try to snatch Kya away from her.

Kya was everything to Emily, her only emotional support! So why should she spill the beans and send Emily into a panic?

Jonathan looked at her calmly, “Charlie was indeed a bit of a playboy, but he hasn’t been messing around with girls these past two years. He didn’t seek Emily because he didn’t want to disturb her.”

Estelle said, “I have no idea what’s going on in Charlie’s head. I’ve done Emily wrong by letting Charlie see Kya without her permission. I won’t make Emily face Charlie, nor will I hinder them, or play matchmaker. Please, don’t bring this up in front of Charlie.”

“Alright, I’ve been warned. I wouldn’t dare say anything without your permission, now would I?” Jonathan chuckled.

Estelle ignored him and continued eating.

After finishing their meal, they left the restaurant. Estelle was about to go to the counter to pay when Jonathan grabbed her wrist, “No need, I’ve already paid.”

Estelle was so surprised that she hadn’t even noticed when he had taken hold of her wrist. “When did you pay?”

She hadn’t seen him leave the table.

Jonathan laughed, “I have Courtney’s PayPal account. I just transferred her the money.”

Estelle finally understood, taking out her phone, “I’ll transfer you the money then. How much was it?”

They had agreed before that it was her treat today.

“It’s been paid for today, maybe next time!” Jonathan smiled, taking her hand and leading her out.

Once they were in the courtyard, Estelle finally realized and pulled her hand away from his Jonathan didn’t force her, calmly walking ahead.

Once in the car, Estelle asked again, “Can I have the gun now?”

Jonathan nodded, “Sure, I’ll take you to get it now.”

Estelle frowned, “Where did you put the gun?”

“The Royal Mansion.” Jonathan looked at her, a meaningful look in his eyes. “I left the gun at the Royal Mansion that night.”

Upon hearing about those two nights, Estelle felt a flush creeping up her ears. Luckily, the car was dimly lit.

The car hit the road, after a moment of silence, Estelle was irritated. If the gun was at the Royal Mansion, why did she have to come here for dinner?

She took a deep breath, trying to stay calm. Arguing might just bring more trouble!

At 9pm, the city of J was brightly lit, neon lights accompanying the twinkling lights of the skyscrapers, illuminating the night. At this time, the roads were crowded, and Jonathan drove unhurriedly. He was playing a CD, a melodious tune with a hint of sorrow echoed in the quiet car.

Feeling tired, Estelle leaned her head against the seat, watching the traffic outside, feeling drowsy. After a few songs, she realized that Jonathan was playing songs from two years ago. Back then, he would pick her up from the studio every day and take her back to the Royal Mansion. He always played some light music to help her relax.

Now, two years later, hearing these songs again stirred up memories she’d rather forget. Once she realized this, Estelle’s drowsiness vanished, her lazy eyes becoming alert and wary.

Upon reaching the Royal Mansion, they took the elevator up. The two of them remained silent until they entered the room. Suddenly, Jonathan grabbed her hand, gently pushed her against the wall, and kissed her.
