Chapter 1087

Maybe she got played by that guy? She had always been bit dim!

At the end of the day, she never loved him! Otherwise, she wouldn’t have sent him to Noreen’s bed for money back then.

The more Charlie thought about it, the angrier he got.

Jonathan watched as Charlie’s face turned progressively gloomier, and couldn’t help but chuckle.

Emily sat in the back, lost in her thoughts. Estelle gave her a rough rundown of what had happened, while Kya chattered away non-stop. “Estelle’s one tough cookie!”

“Uncle Charlie’s amazing too. He kicked that jerk’s ass, just like this!”

She even mimicked a kicking gesture, showing Emily how badass Charlie was.

Her cute and funny posture almost made Estelle burst out laughing.

Still, the mood in the car was pretty heavy. Estelle held Kya close and whispered, “Are you scared?”

“Nope!” Kya’s voice was high-pitched, laced with a bit of anger, “They’re bullies, I’m not scared of them!”

“Kya, you’re so brave!” Estelle praised, patting her head.

Kya’s adorable voice left Charlie with mixed emotions. He had always seen Kya as a sweet kid he got along with well. Now that he knew Kya was Emily’s child with another man, he was incredibly upset.

The police station wasn’t far from their neighborhood, so they arrived quickly.

Emily carried Kya off the car. Charlie told Estelle, “You guys take Kya home. I’ve got stuff to take care of, so I won’t go with you.”

Emily’s gaze faltered slightly, and she murmured, “Thanks for helping out today, Mr. James.”

“No problem!” Charlie’s tone was a bit cold.

Jonathan raised an eyebrow at Estelle, “You and Emily take good care of Kya. I’ll call you later.”

“Alright.” Estelle nodded.

Once they were both gone, Emily and Estelle took Kya home. Ms. Simmons had been anxiously waiting for them. Seeing them return, she was visibly relieved, “They didn’t give you any trouble, did they?”

“It’s all good now, we handled it.” Emily looked a bit upset. She glanced at the time, “It’s getting late. You should head home. I’ll take care of Kya.”

“Alright.” Ms. Simmons agreed, packing up her things to leave.

Sitting on the sofa, Emily felt increasingly uneasy. She asked Estelle, “The man who’s been visiting Kya… it’s Charlie, isn’t it?”

Estelle nodded apologetically, “I’m sorry Emily, I misled you.”

“Did he suspect anything?” Emily asked urgently.

“No!” Estelle assured her, “Charlie didn’t know Kya was your child before. Even if he found out today, he wouldn’t suspect he had anything to do with her.”

Otherwise, Charlie wouldn’t have acted that way earlier.

Emily nodded slowly, the sudden turn of events was overwhelming, she’d panicked because she was scared.

Charlie didn’t know that she was the woman he’d been with that night. In his eyes, they’d never been intimate, so he wouldn’t suspect that he was Kya’s biological father.

“Estelle, I’m really scared. I’m afraid Charlie will find out the truth about Kya, I’m afraid he’ll take Kya away from me!” Emily’s voice was filled with fear, “Kya is my everything, I can’t lose her!”

“I understand.” Estelle comforted her, putting an arm around her shoulder, “Charlie meeting Kya was an accident. I didn’t tell you because I didn’t want you to worry. Trust me, he won’t find out the truth!

“Okay.” Emily’s pure eyes shimmered with unease. She nodded slowly, “My mom’s getting discharged from the hospital soon. I’ve decided not to wait for my brother’s wedding. I’m going to take Kya back to Oakdale City as soon as possible.”

Estelle nodded, “Alright, whatever decision you make, I’ll support you!”
