Chapter 1159

Tracy handed Emily a chart listing Charlie’s work and break schedules.

For instance, Emily, as Charlie’s personal assistant, needed to bring Charlie coffee every two hours, ask him about his lunch plans at noon daily. and accompany him to social events in the evening

On top of that, she had to help Charlie navigate various social situations

If Charlie had a girlfriend, she also had to remember their anniversaries and prepare holiday or birthday gifts for her.

These tasks filled up three pages in total,

Emily took a deep breath, realizing that being the president’s assistant wasn’t a walk in the park and that she’d rather be doing some dull design work instead.

When she saw the task of buying gifts for Charlie’s girlfriend, she looked up and asked Tracy, “Does Mr. James have a girlfriend right now?”

Tracy, while organizing some files, answered, “Not at the moment, but keep in mind, he could get one at any time.”

Emily was well aware of Charlie’s speed in picking up girlfriends. She nodded and said, “Got it.”

Tracy said, “I’m off to lunch, go ask Mr. James if he has any special plans for lunch or if he needs anything ordered”

Emily promptly responded, “Tm on it.”

After Tracy left, Emily busied herself for a while. Watching the time slowly pass, she had no choice but to head to Charlie’s office.

She knocked on the door, and upon hearing Charlie’s response, she plucked up the courage to enter.

“Mr. James, do you need lunch ordered?” Emily asked, her head bowing politely.

Charlie glanced up at her, then coldly replied, “No need; I’m not hungry.”

Emily answered with an “Oh, paused for three seconds, then turned to leave.

“Hold up!” Charlie suddenly said

Emily stopped in her tracks, turning to look at Charlie. He was lounging in his leather chair, looking at her leisurely, and said, “I say I’m not hungry, and you just walk off?”

Emily thought to herself, What can she do if he’s not hungry? Force-feed him?

Charlie sarcastically said, “Since you’re a newbie, I’ll give you a pointer. When your boss says he’s not hungry, you should try to make something that will what his appetite. Otherwise, if he doesn’t eat lunch, he might be in a bad mood in the afternoon. And when he’s in a bad mood, he might want to lose his temper. Do you get it?”

Emily got it–if Charlie didn’t eat, she might get an earful from him in the afternoon. So she had to find a way to make him eat.

She had no idea Charlie was such a hothead.

She muttered under her breath but didn’t dare show it on her face. She asked more respectfully. Then, Mr. James, what would you like to eat?”

Charlie got up, flipped through some files, and lazily said, “I don’t want takeout.”

Emily was speechless. If he didn’t want takeout, did he expect her to cook for him?

A thought crossed her mind: did he mean for her to cook?

Not only did she have to bring him coffee, but also cook for him?

But even if she was willing to cook, there wasn’t a kitchen here!

Emily blurted out, “I can cook, but there’s no kitchen here.”

Charlie glanced at her, seeming to mock her for finally catching on, then stood up and walked out saying “Follow me!”

Emily scoffed; she didn’t believe for a second that he could whip up a kitchen out of thin air!
