Chapter 118

Jonathan picked up the coffee pot and poured coffee for Estelle, the aroma of coffee immediately filled the air.

Estelle took a sip, the coffee was rich and fragrant, with a smooth, delicate taste that she had never experienced before. It seemed like it was brewed in–house.

“Delicious,” Estelle commented.

Jonathan smiled and explained to her, “When I was young, Courtney worked for the Lamont family. Later, she quit after her husband made money in business, and they opened their own restaurant to serve home–cooked dishes. Both of them are excellent cooks, you’ll see.”

“With the restaurant doing well for so many years, I’m sure it’s quite good,” Estelle replied as she sipped her coffee.

She finished her cup quickly and reached for the teapot again.

Jonathan held her hand, “One cup is enough, drinking too much and you won’t be able to sleep.”

“Who says so?” Estelle raised her eyebrows, “Even if I don’t sleep all night, I can’t waste such delicious coffee.”

Jonathan chuckled softly, his voice lowered, “Well, if you can’t sleep, we can do something else.”

Estelle blushed and glared at him, and turned to look at the trees outside the window.

As Jonathan looked at her face, a mix of shyness and annoyance, Jonathan was slightly touched. He leaned back in his chair, the comer of his lips curled up slightly.

Soon, Courtney brought the dishes in and placed them on the table one by one…

Most of the dishes were sweet and spicy, catering to Estelle’s taste, and of course, there were also dishes that Jonathan liked.

As she served the dishes, Courtney asked, “Is Ms. Macclain from J City?”

Estelle smiled lightly, “I grew up in C City and came back a few years ago.”

“Well, it’s not too far away,” Courtney replied with a kind smile.

“Yes.”

“I can also cook dishes of C City, so if you like, you can come here more often.”

“Sure, thank you!”

After Courtney left, Jonathan asked, “You used to live in C City?”

Estelle nodded, “Yeah, my grandfather is from C City.”

Jonathan’s voice remained calm as always, “Did you come to J City for school? Are you planning to move back after graduation?”

Estelle took a bite of beef and said softly, “I’m not sure yet.”

Jonathan nodded lightly and didn’t continue the topic.

When the two returned to the Royal Mansion after dinner, it was almost midnight. In the bathroom, Jonathan finally noticed the bruise on Estelle’s shoulder.

Her fair skin made the bluish–purple mark quite apparent.

He asked sternly. “Why didn’t you tell me earlier?”

Estelle didn’t seem to care, “It doesn’t hurt anymore.”

Jonathan wrapped a towel around her and carried her back to the bedroom. Then he brought a first aid kit inside for her.

Estelle insisted, “It’s really not necessary to apply medicine. It’ll be fine in a couple of days.”

The man didn’t respond but simply pressed her shoulder and applied the medicine slowly.

There were some faint scars on her back, not very noticeable, only visible when examined closely. The man squinted his eyes and casually asked, “What did you do before?”

With her back to the man and a towel covering her chest, Estelle hunched over, resting her head on her knees, and said softly. “I got injured when I learned martial arts.”

“Why did you learn martial arts?” Jonathan asked softly.

Estelle said, “Because I needed to protect myself”

Jonathan paused in applying the medicine, slightly stunned. He knew she had been disliked by her parents when she was young and had experienced many misfortunes.
