Chapter 1268

The elevator quickly came to a halt at the first floor, and Charlie stepped out nervously.

Waters followed him out of the elevator.

Emily didn’t leave the elevator until they were out of sight, the words Charlie had said earlier still stung her.

Martin was waiting for her outside. She exited the building briskly, not wasting any time.

As she left the building, she saw Charlie and Waters also waiting for a ride. Martin had already got out of his car and waved to her over from a few meters away. “Emily, over here!”

Emily walked towards Martin

She was wearing the business suit gifted by Magdalen Sampson on the day, the skirt was a little shorter than her usual ones, tailored perfectly to her body, accentuating her curves, especially from the back.

Waters chuckled, “Have a great date!”

Emily didn’t look back, she just quickened

Martin’s eyes sparkled in the setting sun,

her pace, hoping to disappear from Charlie’s line of sight as soon as possible.

didn’t realize how great you look in business attire

Emily cracked a small smile, she had intended to sit in the back seat, but Martin had already opened the passenger door for her, so she got in Waters watched as Martin’s car drove off, then turned to Charlie, “When I said your secretary was interesting, I didn’t mean interesting, she’s a bit

strange.”

“In what way is she strange?” Charlie stared at the rear lights of Martin’s car.

“She’s too guarded, even with her boyfriend, she claims he’s not.” Waters raised his eyebrows and chuckled.

The driver had already brought the car around and Charlie was walking towards it. It was then that Waters realized he couldn’t remember when Charlie had stopped smiling, his eyes had grown somewhat gloomy.

Once they got in the car, Emily immediately asked, “Dr. Martin, why did the Ferber Family want to see you?”

Martin turned to her, a warm smile on his face, “Don’t worry, we’ll talk about it later, what do you feel like eating?”

“Anything is finer Emily replied politely

1 know a great French restaurant, they do an excellent steak. Martin suggested

“ok”

Emily agreed and then called Ms. Simmons to let her know she might be home late

Martin suggested, “Let’s go pick up Kya, we can all have dinner together”

“It’s fine, Ms. Simmons can wait for me.” Emily said.

“You’re still too formal with me.” Martin smiled, “We’re friends, there’s no need to be so distant.”

Emily bit her lip and didn’t respond.

The restaurant Martin had chosen was quiet and elegant, they found a table by the window where they could chat

After they had ordered, Emily again asked impatiently. “What on earth did Terry want with you?”

“Terry said they have a relative who manufactures medical equipment and they’re hoping to introduce their products to our hospital, but their prices are too high, I’m not sure I can help” Martin finally responded.

Emily’s face fell, “You don’t have to deal with them, just say no. Don’t break hospital rules on my account”

Martin looked slightly troubled, “Td like to help if I can, after all, they’re soon to be your family, but the prices they’re asking, I’m powerless.”

Emily nodded, “Just stick to the rules, you don’t have to worry about offending anyone”

Martin took a sip of water, then asked with a smile, “One more thing. Terry gave me a gift to thank me for my help, but I have no idea what I’ve done to help them?”
