Chapter 167

Awkwardness, embarrassment, and some vague emotion were all over Estelle’s face. She responded with a faint smile, “It’s okay, I’ve got my salary and your bonus, besides teaching Henson well is just my duty. There’s no need for extra appreciation.”

“It’s cool. I just promised them I’d bring you. No biggie,” Jonathan said.

Estelle thought for a moment, “Alright then, I miss Henson anyway.”

“Okay, go to bed.” Jonathan kissed her hair softly and headed out.

As the door closed, Estelle’s heart gradually calmed, and she went to sleep.

The next day was Saturday. Neither Jonathan nor Estelle had to work, so they slept in until around 8 AM.

Estelle was stretching on the balcony when the doorbell rang.

She thought it was the hotel delivering breakfast. However, when she opened the door, in came Emily holding a tray of food – “I guessed you just got up. I made breakfast – have some!”

As Emily spoke, she walked into the room, only to freeze when she spotted a man wearing pajamas.

Estelle turned and saw Jonathan coming out of the master bedroom. He nodded slightly at Emily and headed towards the living room.

Shocked, Emily blurted out, “Is he your boyfriend?”

She had heard some noise the night before while closing the balcony window, but she had thought it was from downstairs. Now, recalling that moment, her face turned red.

Estelle stammered an explanation, “No, he’s my landlord… and my uncle.”

Since Emily had moved downstairs, they barely crossed paths, with Emily leaving early and returning late while Estelle worked late nights. Emily had never met Jonathan.

Today, on her day off, Emily had made breakfast for Estelle, only to bump into Jonathan unexpectedly.

Emily looked even more shocked, she had a buch of questions that didn’t seem appropriate to ask. She whispered, “Don’t forget your breakfast. I’m gonna take off now.”

“Okay,” Estelle walked her out.

Putting the breakfast down, Estelle walked towards the living room, noticing Jonathan was smoking on the balcony. She asked, “Want to try Emily’s breakfast?”

Jonathan turned around, his stunningly handsome face basking in sunlight, and smirked, “You said I’m the landlord, and your friend probably thinks we have some sketchy deal going on.”

Estelle raised an eyebrow, jokingly saying, “Isn’t that true?”

With unreadable emotions on his face, Jonathan laughed and said, “I’m afraid she’d misunderstand you.”

“Don’t worry about it.” Estelle smiled and asked again, “You want breakfast?”

Jonathan nodded, “Sure, I’ll be right there.”

“Alright, but don’t take too long, or the breakfast will get cold.” Estelle’s eyes were clear and gentle as she headed back to the kitchen. Emily had made two sandwiches, one of which Estelle gave to Jonathan, “Try Emily’s cooking!”

The relaxed atmosphere seemed to wash away the unspoken rift they had before. The two enjoyed their breakfast quietly, as the warmth of the sun poured in, adding a touch of tranquility to the room.

Later on, as they headed out, Millard’s car was already waiting outside the Royal Mansion.
