Chapter 456

As Crystal handed Charlie a wine glass, she took the opportunity to sit beside him and explained, “I’m sitting here ‘cause it’s closer to the kitchen. Just let me know if you guys need anything, and I’ll grab it.”

The others didn’t say anything, but Carson casually said, “Wow, sis–in–law, you really know how to take care of people!”

He called her sis–in–law to clear their relationship.

But Crystal immediately retorted, “Why are you calling me sis–in–law? I’m not even married!*

Emily saw her expression and felt uneasy but comforted herself thinking that it’s just Crystal’s personality, and this is how she talks to her brother too.

Carson was startled and swore silently that he would never respond to her again no matter what she said.

Jonathan didn’t care about the others‘ conversations; he was busy taking care of Estelle. He only let her drink half a glass of wine before taking the glass away.

While they were eating and chatting, Crystal picked the best photo from the ones she took earlier and uploaded it on Facebook, captioning it, “Don’t feel like cooking this weekend, just ordered some takeout!”

Of course, she didn’t show the post to the Sullivan’s family and Charlie.

Unsurprisingly, people recognized the logo of the hotel on the plates and even calculated the price, which was around 30,000.

With a table full of Michelin–starred dishes, she’s clearly flaunting her wealth, making some people wonder how rich she is.

Crystal leaned slightly towards Charlie’s side, holding her wine glass, feeling like she was part of the elite.

While eating, Emily said she felt better and wanted to go back to work the next day.

Before anyone else could speak up, Crystal immediately protested, “Your hand is so badly injured, how can you go to work?”

Charlie agreed, “Don’t worry, just focus on recovering before working again!”

Emily didn’t like staying idle at home. Even though it’s Charlie’s company, she wouldn’t be fired for taking leave, but she wanted to do well and keep her job based

on her capabilities.

Moreover, she didn’t want to delay Crystal’s work. She had suggested Crystal not to take care of her, but Crystal had insisted otherwise.

Emily felt really embarrassed!

Estelle chimed in, “Take a couple more days of rest. If you go to work like this, there are many things you can’t do. It’s better to fully recover first!”

“Yeah!” Crystal added a bit anxiously, “If your mom finds out, she won’t agree either!”

Seeing that everyone was against her working, Emily compromised, “Alright, I’ll go back in a few days!”

Carson laughed, “Don’t worry, if Charlie’s company doesn’t need you, mine does. Whenever you’re ready, I’ll personally send you an offer!”

Emily thought he was joking and smiled, then sincerely said, “Thank you all, really. I feel so lucky to have met you guys!”

“No more talk, let’s drink!” Charlie raised his glass.

Everyone lifted their glasses, and Estelle secretly poured a little more wine for herself when Jonathan wasn’t looking.

Jonathan pretended not to see, his eyes filled with indulgence and adoration.

Charlie quickly emptied the bottle of wine and headed to the bathroom in the master bedroom. Just as he was about to unbuckle his belt, he heard someone approaching and attempting to open the door without knocking. However, the door remained closed, as Charlie had locked it.

Growing slightly annoyed, Charlie inquired, “Who is it?”

In a hushed tone, Crystal replied, “Charlie! I noticed you had quite a bit to drink, so I brought you some yogurt. It’s the best remedy for hangovers. Please open the door!”
