Chapter 46

After dinner, when Estelle went upstairs to pack her things, Wilma made a cake, ice cream, and chocolate pudding, placing them all on the table. “Ma’am, if you crave these treats again, just come back, Il make thern for you

Estelle wasn’t typically emotional, but when she saw the affectionate and hesitant gaze in Wilma’s eyes, she felt a momentary touch of emotion. She decided to approach and give Wilma a warm hug, saying, “Perhaps I’ll return someday.”

Wilma choked up a little and said slowly, “Wagner and I will be waiting for your return.”

Estelle nodded, “Today I’ll pack my clothes, and tomorrow I’ll come back to pick them up. In the future, please take care of Max for me, you and Mr. Wagner!”

“No problem!” Wilma patted her shoulder lightly, “Take good care of yourself too.”

“Umm!”

The following day, with no afternoon classes scheduled, Estelle returned to the villa to collect her belongings and prepare to move to the Royal Mansion.

Her clothes and books were already packed, but there was still one book left in the deepest drawer of her desk. She took it out and opened to the page with the photograph.

The photograph captured a primitive jungle as the backdrop, while nine individuals donned mercenary uniforms, complete with helmets and faces adorned with camouflage paint. Only their piercing, wolf-like eyes remained visible amid the rugged terrain.

The man in the middle had a defiant and unruly gaze, with an unbridled fierceness all around him. He had his hand on the shoulder of a shorter person next to him, in a protective posture.

The individual, being small and slender, didn’t exhibit clear signs of gender. Their eyes, equally bloodthirsty and cold, added to the ambiguity surrounding their identity.

Suddenly, Estelle’s pants were tugged, and she looked down to see Max. She closed the book and put it back into the deepest part of the drawer.

Max seemed to know she was leaving, so he was sticking close to her.

Estelle held Max and played with him on the balcony sofa as usual. Suddenly, she remembered something and took out her phone to make a video call.

The video call connected, and in the courtyard on the other side, an old man in a gray cloth gown was polishing a piece of wood. Seeing her, he asked with a smile, “Are you going home?”

Estelle shook her head, “No, I’m moving out, just wanted to let you

know.”

The elderly man became alert, his interest piqued. “Are you moving? Did you end your commitment to the Lamont family youngster?”

Estelle couldn’t help but roll her eyes. “No.”

“Then where are you moving to?”

“I’m moving to another house that the Lamont family youngster owns.” Estelle answered.

The old man stared at her for a while and then hung up the video call.

Estelle frowned and muttered under her breath, “He’s still as bad-tempered as ever; no improvement at all.”

Max whimpered in her arms.

Estelle wore a serene expression on her face as she gently stroked the soft fur of her companion, her gaze

mountain landscape

Late spring had arrived, and the trees on the mountainside had adorned themselves in deep shades of green, signaling the start of another annual cycle.

Estelle sat there until evening, watching the sky fill with red clouds, like they were on fire.

Her phone on the sofa rang, it was Magdalen picking her up.

Estelle said goodbye to Wilma, Wagner, and Max, and got into Magdalen’s car to go down the mountain.

Magdalen praised her all the way, “You truly are my friend, quick, accurate, and ruthless!”

She always took getting out Morrison when she was seventeen as a great achievement of her life.

Estelle gave her a glance, “We’re not the same!”

“Of course not, if it were me, Jonathan wouldn’t have been able to leave the country three years ago.” Magdale

scoffed.

Estelle was speechless, “That’s not what I meant.”

Magdalen laughed and asked, “So, how does it feel to be with him?”
