Chapter 515

After a while, she took out her phone and called Charlie

The phone was quickly answered, and a gentle male voice came through, “Emily!”

Emily pretended to be cool, “Charlie, sorry. I’m not gonna go after Nora anymore, tell the lawyer to drop the case”

Charlie was silent for a few seconds, then asked, “What happened”

Emily was silent

Charlie asked, “did someone give you a hard time again?”

Emily couldn’t hold back and started crying

Charlie ‘Emily? Where are you? Let’s talk face to face”

“I’m fine, you don’t need to come!” said Emily

Charlie was a bit worried, “Where are you?”

Emily shook her head while crying. I’m hanging up!”

She hung up the phone, and Charlie called back quickly, but she hung up again.

She sat on the bench for a while and got up to leave, but she didn’t know where to go.

John had gone to find Mathilda in the morning, and she didn’t want to go back and see them. Estelle wasn’t in J City either, and she really didn’t know where else she could

go

She got up and walked aimlessly along the road.

Thanksgiving is a day of reunion, and the streets were bustling.

Emily walked through the crowd, not knowing how long she had been walking, and finally stopped outside a Lego store, blankly staring at a life–size castle in the window. Someone squeezed past her, and she staggered a bit. Turning around, she noticed that the sky had become overcast, and it looked like it would rain at any moment. Pedestrians complained about the gloomy weather during the holiday and how they wouldn’t be able to see the clear sky at night

Emily followed the hurried crowd and kept walking.

“Emily!”

Suddenly, someone called her name!

She froze for a moment, slowly turned her head, and saw Charlie standing amidst the crowd, looking straight at her and walking towards her Emily thought she was hallucinating.

Only when Charlie’s tall figure blocked the crowded people and looked at her somewhat angrily, did she realize it wasn’t an illusion, ‘Do you know how long I’ve been looking for you?

He had tracked the location of Emily’s call but couldn’t find her there. She didn’t answer his phone either, so he just followed the street, searching all the way

If he couldn’t find her soon, he would send people all over the city to look for her.

Emily looked up at him with mixed feelings. “How did you find me?

She had walked at least two blocks by now

“What do you think?” Charlie scolded, “Why can’t you just talk about things properly? Why are you running around by yourself? And not answering the phone?! What are you trying to do?”

Emily suddenly started crying again, not knowing whether it was from feeling wronged or touched.

Charlie raised his hand to wipe her tears, and seeing her cry silently, he couldn’t help but frown slightly. He hugged her in his arms and whispered softly. “I’m sorry, I was just too worried I didn’t mean to sound harsh, don’t cry, I apologize!”

Emily cried even harder, her tears streaming down, ‘No, no, I’m not blaming you!”

Charlie didn’t say anything, just gently patted her shoulder, letting her slowly calm down.

The rain started to fall, and the pedestrians hurried by, brushing past the two of them.
