Chapter 583

Charlie furrowed his brow and looked at Jonathan, “So, hypothetically speaking, if I were with Emily, whose side would you be on? Mine or hers?”

Jonathan settled himself on the couch and replied, “Well, that would depend on which side Estelle takes!”

“Come on!” Charlie exclaimed, “You mean to tell me that twenty years of friendship means nothing compared to a girl? Just remember, if you and Estelle ever break up, don’t come crying back to me!”

Jonathan raised an eyebrow and retorted, “Don’t worry, not even your demise could separate us!”

Charlie chuckled, “We’ll see about that!”

Jonathan knew Charlie was just joking, but for some reason, he felt a sudden unease, even annoyance, so he changed the subject, “What’s going on, how come Emily’s back?”

Charlie briefly recounted the events of the previous day, saying, “I’m really relieved that I took her home last night. Otherwise who knows what could’ve happened!”

Jonathan nodded thoughtfully and replied, “Well, things have a way of working out. Emily can simply move back in with us!”

Charlie chuckled and added, “I knew you’d be thrilled about Emily’s return. Now you have someone to help you take care of your little girl!”

Jonathan raised an eyebrow but didn’t confirm or deny it.

Meanwhile, in the kitchen, Emily was sharing her family situation with Estelle.

Estelle frowned, “Crystal got what she deserved, your brother will find a better girl!”

“Yep!” Emily agreed, “It’s just hard for them to accept right now, gonna take some time for things to calm down.”

The two chatted for a while, then served breakfast and called Jonathan and Charlie to eat.

It’d been a while since Emily hadn’t been home, so she got up early to buy groceries and made breakfast – milk, pancakes, and sliced bread.

The four hadn’t had a meal together in ages, and it felt just like the old days.

Emily left because of Crystal, and now came back because of her too truly, a twist of fate.

After breakfast, everyone went to work.

The weather was gloomy, and in the afternoon, just before finishing work, it started to rain. Inman stepped out of the office to ask Estelle, “How are you getting home? You need a ride?”

“No, thanks, my boyfriend’s picking me up,” Estelle replied, looking up.

“Alright then, I’ll leave first!” Inman waved his hand.

Estelle packed up her things and got a call from Jonathan, he was already dow irs.

She hung up and stepped out of the office building, spotting Jonathan’s car outside. He saw her too, quickly grabbed an umbrella, and came over to escort her.

It was chilly, and Jonathan had thoughtfully brought an extra sweater, draping it around her shoulders as he held the umbrella and helped her to the car.

Inman, driving past, gazed at the scene in astonishment.

The black umbrella obstructed her view, so she couldn’t see the man’s face, but his expensive suit and the Rolls Royce in front were enough to shock her.

Estelle usually wore a mix of designer and regular clothes to work, and Inman thought her family background was just decent, assuming her boyfriend would be similar. Turns out he was filthy rich!

Car horns honked from behind, so Inman, still astonished, drove off.

Once in the car, Jonathan handed Estelle a hot latte, “Warm your hands first.”

Estelle took it, smiling, “It’s not that cold!”

As they hit the main road, Jonathan spoke softly, “Charlie just called, said he’s picking up Emily and we should all have dinner together at the Royal Mansion.”

Estelle couldn’t help but sigh, it’s so great Emily’s back!”

Jonathan glanced at her with a smile, “My cooking not good enough for you?”

“Of course not!” Estelle narrowed her eyes, “I just meant that we can all hang out together again!”

Jonathan just smirked, not exposing her lie, and changed the topic, “What kind of car do you like?”
