Just before getting off work, Emily got a call from Chris, inviting her out to dinner after work.
Chris had asked her out three times in a row, and Emily had declined each time before. Today, however, she didn’t directly refuse the invitation. Instead, she thought about it for a moment and agreed, and told Chris to pick her up after work.
It kept raining, with the light, unceasing drizzle making the evening dreary.
