Chapter 801

The apartment was split into two levels, with the elderly landlord living on the first floor and Emily on the second. Because Emily’s cooking was so delicious, the old lady waived her rent. They looked out for each other and got along swimmingly.

When Estelle and Jonathan arrived, the old woman warmly welcomed them in. She had even prepared an array of candies for them, following the New Year customs of C Country.

Emily was super excited to see Estelle and Jonathan. She held Estelle’s hand tightly, not wanting to let go.

She had a ton of things to share with Estelle, so they bunked together that night while Jonathan slept in the neighboring room.

Emily told Estelle about her life here, how she had made a fool of herself when she first arrived due to language barrier, how she had cried helplessly on the roadside in this foreign land.

But, thank goodness, she had toughed it out.

Now, she had fully adapted to the life here. Her life was simple, shuttling between school and home. But she was contented.

Emily laughed, “It was only later that I found out you and Jonathan had given me so much money in my card. I wouldn’t have survived without it!”

Estelle chuckled gently, “That’s in the past now!

“Yeah, it’s all in the past!” Emily, holding Estelle’s hand on her belly, said tenderly, “A few days ago, I started to feel the baby kicking. The doctor said I felt it early, so this little one must be very active!

“In the toughest times, I made it through because of my baby. When I felt it kick, I was so excited I couldn’t sleep. I’m really glad I kept him it! Estelle, I also want to thank you. You gave me the courage to keep it.”

Estelle’s hand rested gently on her belly. When she felt the baby’s faint movement, her heart skipped a beat, filled with a unique sense of emotion…

“Do you feel it?” Emily’s smile was more tender.

“Mhm” Estelle looked up in surprise, “Is it the baby?

“Yes.” Emily’s eyes sparkled.

Estelle thought it was magical.

“The landlady is really nice, a very kind old lady. She knows it’s hard for me to be pregnant alone and takes good care of me. She loves my cooking and even waived my rent. She’s always bragging about her tenant who cooks so well.” Emily laughed, “She’s so enthusiastic, she even accompanies me to my check–ups!

For the New Year, she was concerned that I might get homesick, so we celebrated together. Did you see the decorations outside? She bought them!”

Estelle believed that it was Emily’s kindness that won her the favor of god.

The two chatted away without running out of topics. But no one mentioned Charlie. And Emily had left the group chat that Carson had created.

She was determined to cut off all ties with Charliel

Emily looked at Estelle with sparkling eyes, “How are things between you and Jonathan? Have you made plans? When are you going to get engaged?

“We probably won’t get engaged!” Estelle said.

“Why?” Emily asked anxiously. “What happened?”

“No, I mean we’re not getting engaged, we might get married directly Estelle slowly explained, “Probably after my graduation.”

They were already married anyway. So, when she graduated, they might just hold a wedding ceremony, no need for an engagement.

“You scared me!” Emily sighed in relief, whispering, “Estelle, you and Jonathan must always love each other. Because of you two, I still believe in love.”

Estelle’s eyes were clear, “Sure!”

Emily calculated the time, “By then, I probably haven’t given birth, so when you graduate, I’ll definitely come back for your wedding?”

“Deal!”

“Yeah, deal!”
