Chapter 840

A few guys returned to the yard with Zachary rushing down from upstairs, “Boss, how’s Norah?”

“She choked on some water, but she’s okay now. What about the others?”

“They’re still upstairs beating those bastards! Zachary wiped the blood splattered on his face with fury “A bunch of no–good punks, daring to mess with Norah, they deserve to be beaten to death!”

“We’ve already called the police, Zachary. Don’t go too far!” Xavier ordered.

Zachary smirked. “Got it, we’ll make sure they wish they were dead, but won’t really kill them.”

Damian, concerned about Xavier’s back injury, said, “Boss, you should sit down and rest.”

“I’m fine,” Xavier placed Norah on a chair Seeing Zachary was the most heavily dressed, he said, “Take off your jacket and cover Norah,”

Zachary, not usually the sensitive type, finally noticed Norah shivering and quickly took off his jacket to cover her. “Is Norah okay?”

Norah, pale and huddled in the chair, managed a weak smile, “Much better, thank you, guys!”

Zachary gave a hearty laugh, “No need for formalities. Whoever dares to mess with you, I’ll make them pay. I’ve already knocked out two of Nicolas’s teeth

Norah felt sincere gratitude towards Zachary and the others. They might not be educated or have clean records, but once you get to know them, you realize they’re upright, kind–hearted, clear about right and wrong, and fiercely loyal to their friends

As they chatted, police sirens wailed outside

Xavier gestured to Zachary to get the others downstairs. Self–defense was legal, but there was a line between that and excessive force. Having the police see them beating the hell out of Nicolas and his gang would be hard to explain.

Just as the others came downstairs, the police entered. Xavier explained the situation.

The police took this case involving human life very seriously, drawing their guns and cautiously approaching the upstairs. After all, kidnappers who also wanted to kill were likely to be desperate criminals! But once they saw the four battered men lying on the ground, they felt a bit awkward.

A young officer asked his superior, “Are the kidnappers upstairs, or downstairs?”

The deputy chief, thinking of the formidable men downstairs, frowned, “Just take them all in for now!”

Xavier and the others, including Norah, were taken to the police station.

Although the crime was severe, the culprits‘ motives and actions were straightforward. Nicolas and his gang admitted everything as soon as they were questioned While taking statements, the police quickly learned that Norah was from the Lamont family.

A female officer was assigned to accompany Norah, and someone was sent to buy her a change of clothes.

The kidnapping victim being a member of the Lamont family was a big deal. The deputy chief didn’t dare make a decision on his own and called the district chief, who arrived at the scene quickly.

Coincidentally, the district chief had already met Xavier due to a previous heads–up from Jonathan.
