Chapter 842

When Norah woke up, it was almost dark. She strained to open her eyes, and it took her a moment to recall what had happened. The world was white around her, it seemed she was still in the hospital

Where was Xavier?

Just as she was about to call for a nurse, she spotted Xavier lying on a bed not for from her, hooked up to an IV just like her

Except, he was still unconscious

The setting sun streamed through the window casting a soft glow on the man. His angular features were even more striking as he slept. He seemed less aloof and more gentle than usual.

Norah couldn’t take her eyes off him. Her face felt hot, she was already running a fever and now she was blushing.

“Are you awake?”

A female cop came in, followed by a nurse.

The nurse took her temperature and said with a smile, “You still have a slight fever, but it’s much better.

“What happened to me? Norah’s voice was hoarse

“You fell into the water and got a fever. No big deal, the IV will set you right!” The female cop reassured her.

“What about Xavier?” Norah quickly asked.

“He’s fine too!” the nurse added, “His body is not seriously hurt, just lost a lot of blood. He needs to stay in the hospital for observation.”

“Phew Norah sighed in relief, looking at Xavier again, feeling more relaxed than ever before.

Half an hour later, after Norah was done with her IV, Damian told her to go home.

Norah thanked everyone again and told Damian to call her as soon as Xavier woke up Damian agreed and arranged for someone to drive her home. Back at the Lamont family home, Norah was distracted, her mind kept going back to Xavier’s injuries. Occasionally, she thought of Nicolas. How did the frail but hardworking boy she once loved become a kidnapper?

She had no feelings left for Nicolas. He had betrayed her for money, and even tried to kill her to cover it up. All she felt was fear and hatred.

Nicolas deserved his arrest, she didn’t feel sorry for him at all. The only thing that made her feel guilty was Xavier’s injury. Fortunately, at ten o’clock that night, Damian sent her a message, saying that Xavier had woken up and she didn’t need to worry

Norah finally felt at ease, otherwise, she probably wouldn’t have been able to sleep all night

The next morning, Norah went to the hospital early.

Zachary had brought breakfast and was eating with Xavier Damian, having stayed up all night, had gone back to the shop.

Norah waved the stuff in her hand, “I brought you some nourishing food!”

Xavier, half propped up in bed, still looked a bit pale. His eyes still held their usual aloofness and indifference. He smiled and said, “We’re full already. You eat it!”

“I already ate, I bought this for you guys.” Norah handed the food to Zachary, who took it outside to continue eating.

Norah poured Xavier a glass of water and asked, “How are you feeling?”

“No biggie, just a scratch!” Xavier said nonchalantly

“Just a scratch? We were all scared yesterday, you got hurt and you didn’t even say anything!” Norah said, her voice choking up.
