Millard’s brow furrowed. He hadn’t expected Estelle to be the one attacked that day, let alone that she’d be blind. He could hardly bear to look at his boss. Millard had someone bring the money they’d prepared for Dr. Rowland and said in a deep voice, “Dr. Rowland, please leave. There’s a car waiting to take you.”
Soon, Jonathan was alone in the room, his eyes filled with regret. He wished he could just stab himself to end the intense pain.
He didn’t dare think of how she looked covered in blood or how she survived such a tough situation. And he’d watched as she was attacked!

The large glass window in front of him reflected the city lights. The hustle and bustle of the city remained the same. Behind him was endless darkness, like a beast ready to swallow him up.
