Chapter 978

Charlie drove over to the Lamont family mansion.

He stepped into the place, swung the door open, and there was Henson, waiting with anticipation that quickly morphed into surprise, “Charlie”

‘Estelle sent me, how’s your uncle? Charlie comforted, patting Henson on the shoulder

Henson slumped. “He still refuses to take his meds.”

Dr. Alan joined the scene, his face all twisted up. “Tve never seen Mr. Lamont be this stubborn

“No womnes, I’ve got this, Charlie said with a smile, then walked through the living room towards the bedroom

In the room, only a bedside lamp was on Jonathan was sprawled on the bed, his broad shoulders and back exposed. The sound of footsteps made him turn his head, his eyebrows slightly furrowed, long lashes drooping down again.

His face was flushed, obviously running a fever His usually sharp eyes now seemed a bit dazed and tired.

“Are you disappointed to see me? Charlie asked with a grin.

Feeling sick, Jonathan didn’t feel like talking and stayed silent.

“Even though she’s not here, she did call me. That means she still cares about you” Charlie said lightly with a smile

“If she really cared, she would be here herself” Jonathan’s voice was hoarse and calm, emotionless.

Charlie sighed. “Take your meds, man!”

“No” Jonathan didn’t even bother to lift his eyes.

“Who are you sulking at?” Charlie chuckled, stepping up to the bed and handing Jonathan the medicine, “You volunteered to protect her but won’t take your meds What’s up with that?”

“It’s got nothing to do with anyone else I just don’t want to take it,” Jonathan mumbled, eyes closed.

“You’re acting more childish than Henson!” Charlie scolded, “Take your meds or I’ll force them down your throat.”

“I won’t die if I don’t take them!” Jonathan turned his head away, closing his eyes to ignore him.

“How about I call Estelle and have her come over again?” Charlie raised an eyebrow.

Jonathan’s face hardened, a hint of coldness flashing across his face. “What’s the point in calling her if she doesn’t want to come!”

“Then just take your meds and stop making people worry.”

Jonathan smirked slightly, his long lashes drooping as he murmured, “She won’t worry about me anymore.”

“Who are you talking about? I meant Henson would worry about you” Charlie laughed, “Who did you think I was referring to?”

Jonathan got fired up. “Get out!”

“Quit it! Look, you’ve scared Henson so bad he’s turned pale.” Charlie said seriously, “Don’t make everyone worry just because you’re upset!”

Jonathan closed his eyes for a while, finally opening them after a long pause to grab the medicine and swallow it down, followed by a big gulp of water.

“That’s more like it! Charlie laughed. “Throwing a tantrum like a kid, when did you become so childish?”

“I’m not throwing a tantrum!” Jonathan shot him a cold look, “I just don’t like taking medicine!”

“Ainght, whatever you say”

Charlie sat on the couch across, hinting heavily. “You still haven’t cleared things up with her?”

Jonathan felt his whole body aching, his head heavy and dizzy. He closed his eyes, looking worn out, “If she doesn’t care, why should I explain anything?”

“Man, if you two really call it quits, that would be a real shame” Charlie said with fake regret.

Jonathan turned his head, tiredly saying, “I’m fine, you can go now

Charlie replied, “You rest up, I’ll leave once you’re asleep”

Taking the meds made Jonathan increasingly drowsy, and he slowly drifted off to sleep.
