Chapter 362: Unlucky

Once Charles informed Alder, he cut off the connection and looked at the mirror hung on the opposite wall.

A slim brown-haired woman in her twenties appeared in front of his eyes. She had a curved body, medium-sized melons, blush skin, heart-shaped face, and she wore a leather-armor-like dress.

While looking at his feminine reflection, Charles touched his shoulders, combed the long hair, and walked out of the bedroom.

He soon entered the reception hall, moved out of his house, and went towards the main street.

At that moment, he sensed a few elite men were tailing him from the sides.

Although they were just Rank-3 Warlocks, Charles felt uneasy for some unknown reason.

He quickly cast [Arcane Eyes] skill, scanned their bodies, and soon noticed a small piece of paper in one of the men.

Charles squinted his eyes for a moment, zeroed his focus on the particular paper, and read the content.

To his surprise, the content in the small paper was mostly about his current actions.

Still, he saw a name appeared in the letter.

'Percy? So, they took the bait, huh!' A smile crept on his face.

When Charles came out of the Royal District, he purposefully confronted the gatekeeper named Reed and attracted the attention of a certain noblewoman.

Although he wasn't sure which household she belonged to, he noticed that she was already on the verge of a breakthrough.

Her wisdom power had long reached 99.9!

'One single push, she might become a Rank-5 Warlock.' But that was not an easy matter.

He knew from the Holem's Crown that many geniuses got stuck in the same realm in their lifetime.

'But that's not the main point. I vaguely felt an aura of Rank-5 around her. Her family is not a simple one.' That's the main reason he chose to confront Reed and show them a bit of his strength.

Charles soon retracted his gaze and started walking on the street road.

At that moment, he also used his [Arcane Eyes] skill on the ordinary citizens and saw a sharp drop in their lucks.

Most of the people had grey-colored clouds above their heads, while very few had pitch-black ones.

Out of 100 people, two people were extremely unlucky!

While observing them, he suddenly saw that a 30-years-old guy walking in his direction with unsteady footsteps.

His face was flushed, and part of his wavy brown hair fell on his face, almost covering his left eye.

He wore metal armor, hung a long sword in his waist, and held a water pouch in his left hand.

As he walked forward, his left leg bumped on the nearby rock, causing him to move forward with staggering footsteps.

At that moment, he stepped on a lump of horse sh*t and almost fell due to the slipperiness.

Thankfully, the nearby person caught him out of reflex and saved him.

But what made Charles pause in surprise was that if the unlucky guy fell on the road, there was a high chance that he might have ended up falling on the nearby metal spikes!

Although he wouldn't have died, there was a high chance that he would have been injured severely!

Charles then turned his gaze towards the other guy and noticed that he was just a normal Red Human!

'Then, how did he change this man's fate? No, this might not be his turn!'

While thinking, he zeroed his gaze on the unlucky guy, thought about his future, and activated his [Vision] skill.

A second later, a look of understanding appeared on his face.

'Maddox, huh. As I thought, his time hasn't arrived yet. This guy has the strength of a normal mortal and has two Rank-0 bloodline spells. Wait! Rank-0 spells? Is this a degraded version of the Rank-1 spell? That's new. Can I able to change his life?'

Furrowing his brows, Charles thought of something, moved closer towards Maddox, and stopped him.

On the other hand, the drunken Maddox looked at the beautiful woman and showed a confused expression on his face.

"What do you want?" He asked in a flustered tone.

Meanwhile, Charles showed a mysterious smile and spoke.

"Watch out for the wooden arrow, mister. Also, use your 'Fire Shield' bloodline spell."

Not only Maddox but even Percy's men also got startled by his words and showed a confused look on their faces.

Before they could wake up from the shock, Charles walked past Maddox and moved in the opposite direction.

Maddox stood there with a perplexed face for some time, wiped his slipper on the tar-like road, and started walking.

As for the warning words he heard from a strange woman? He didn't put too much thought into it.

Instead, he moved his water pouch, took a sip of the alcohol, and continued to walk.

But Percy's men weren't the same, though.

One of the men, who looked more like a thief in old clothes, passed the white slip to the nearby person and spoke.

"You guys continue your job and keep an eye on her. Also, pass this slip to Sir Percy. I'll tail this man. I don't know what the meaning behind her words is, but this might be some unique passcode."

Before the other party could respond, the thief man turned around and started tailing the drunken Maddox.

Meanwhile, Maddox continued to walk for the next few minutes, reached Whisper Street's junction, made a right turn, and started walking on the dirt road.

But at that moment, he suddenly noticed a few young teens were practicing battle stances on the right side corner of the street road and became stunned.

The main reason for his shock was not the teenagers but the weapons in their hands.

All of them were holding different kinds of wooden weapons.

Some teens held wooden swords and spears, while others held bows and arrows.

Yes, wooden arrows!

Upon seeing this, Maddox subconsciously thought of the young woman's words and went stiff for a moment.

Thankfully, he managed to regain his calm and shook his head.

'It's must be a coincidence.' He consoled himself and hastened his footsteps towards the other end of the street.

At that moment, a slim teenage boy held the bow in his hand, picked up a wooden arrow from the quiver, and placed it on the nock on the bowstring.

Then, he aimed at the aiming board and pulled it with full force.

But just when he was about to release his hand, one of his friends ran towards him from the right side and gripped his shoulder.

Due to the sudden disturbance, the young teen got startled a bit, turned towards his friend, and glared at him.

Simultaneously, his hands also moved towards the right side and aimed towards the road.

Before the teen could loosen the bowstring, his wet fingers suddenly moved a little and released the arrow.

The next instant, the wooden arrow made a whooshing noise, tore through the air, and directly arrived in front of Maddox's neck!
