Chapter 565: Access Cards
"Don't look at me. I have no information about that guy." Arayn said calmly.
Meanwhile, Charles let out a sigh of disappointment and decided to leave this place first.
"If the Fate Professor caught up to us, it would be impossible to escape from his grasp." Saying so, he stood up from his seat.
Meanwhile, Silvia also nodded her head before standing up and started walking towards the house exit.
At that moment, Arayn flapped its wings and spoke.
"I'll help you lead the way." Saying so, the black owl flew off her shoulder and started flying outside through the opened window.
Within seconds, it flew more than 200 meters above the house and spoke to everyone telepathically.
'Two security carriages are coming from the main road. They'll be here in 5 to 6 minutes.' Arayn paused as it observed the surrounding buildings and streets and soon flew back to the building.
'It's impossible to escape from here by carriage.'
At that moment, Charles, Jessie, and others had already walked out of the house and looked up.
As the owl landed on Silvia's shoulder, it looked at Charles and waited for his next words.
The same goes for Jessie, Silvia, and Marvin.
Meanwhile, Charles pondered for a moment and shifted his gaze toward Silvia.
"Do you have a way to stop the Fate Professor from tracking us? I know he can use his 'fate' power to see into the past and follow us."
'If Runeth were here, I wouldn't have asked for her help. But now I have no choice but to ask help from this secret witch.'
"Leave it to me," Silvia said with a nod and closed her eyes.
Simultaneously, she touched the bracelet artifact in her hand and activated it.
A moment later, a strange invisible power swept into the surroundings and erased their past.
"That's it." Saying so, she started walking towards the compound gate.
Charles also walked outside and called Oliver to come out of the carriage.
"You can leave on your own, Oliver. We are going to our next destination by walking."
Although the coachman was puzzled by his words, he didn't say anything and nodded.
"Then, I'll return to the mansion house and wait for your return."
'Jessie's mansion house?' Charles raised his eyebrows and nodded.
As Oliver drove the carriage, Charles shifted his gaze toward Jessie and spoke.
"Take the lead, Jessie. Only you know every nook and corner of this city."
"Okay." Jessie nodded her head in approval and closed her eyes.
A moment later, the blueprint of the Miracle City appeared in her mind and showed her every possible route.
"The best possible way to escape is through the sewage passage. Follow me." Saying so, she dashed towards the other end of Rocky Street.
Meanwhile, Charles and the others didn't delay a single moment and hurriedly followed her.
Within seconds, the group reached the end of Rocky Street road and entered the small alley.
After running for a while, Jessie stopped near a single-storied house and pointed her finger at the nearby lamp post.
"It's the entrance to the sewage passage."
As she spoke, she arrived closer to the lamp post and took out a crystalline blue card from her space ring.
"Access Card? How did you manage to get one?" Silvia asked in surprise.
"It's a Volunteer Access Card." Jessie gave a short response and placed it in a particular area on the lamp.
After that, she closed her eyes and started muttering strange numbers.
On the other hand, Charles was puzzled by her action and shifted his gaze towards Silvia for answers.
Upon noticing his questionable gaze, she took a deep breath and explained.
"Access Cards are basically for accessing the Miracle City's defense mechanism. There are a total of four types of Access Cards available. The first one is the Volunteer Access Card. You can easily get this card if you register your name in Sun Tower or the Tower of Curses. Of course, you must spend some arcane points to get them. As long as you have this card, you can get access to all Stage-5 and Stage-4 areas."
"Stage-5 and Stage-4?" Charles felt more puzzled.
"For example, sewage tunnels, Tower Masters' mansions, magic tower's lower floors, and a few other administration buildings would come under this section."
As she spoke, Charles noticed Jessie had already stopped muttering and shifted her gaze toward the alley road.
A second later, a reddish magic circle appeared on the road, followed by an entrance staircase towards the underground sewage.
"Let's go." Jessie hurriedly fastened her footsteps towards the staircase and went downstairs.
Charles, Silvia, and Marvin followed her quietly and soon entered the sewage tunnel.
Once they entered the sewage tunnel, the reddish magic circle shone brightly and disappeared along with the passage connected to the outside.
"What about the other Access Cards?" Charles asked as Jessie took the lead.
"Second one is the Official Access Card. To get this, one needs to be a student of a tower master or the mage of the Sun Tower or the Tower of Curses. You can enter most areas with this card whenever you want." Silvia deliberated for a moment and then continued to explain.
"Third one is the Master Access Card. I heard that only a handful of people hold this card and are in a higher position than any other in this city."
"You mean tower masters?" Jessie asked while continuing walking in the tunnel.
After all, even she knew nothing much about this access card information and was startled inside.
'I thought there were only two types of access cards available.'
"Yes. I heard that there are twelve tower masters in this city, and each holds considerable authority over different departments. For example, my teacher is the head of the Stargazers Department, while Lord Rafael is the Head of the Intelligence Department. The main reason the Destiny Conquerors assassinated my teacher first might be their fear of him sensing the impending danger."
"What about the fourth Access Card?" Charles asked.
"It's the Core Access Card. Unlike the other ones, this one has the highest authority and allows you to gain complete control over this city. But-" She deliberated for a moment and continued with a deep sigh.
"Its whereabouts are still unknown. Although Lord Rafael managed to take over the Miracle City by force and became the owner a few millenniums ago, he isn't an absolute ruler. The last of the 24 Noble Warlords who created this city hid the Core Access Card somewhere in this city and disappeared."
"So, the ownerless Core Access Card is still in this Miracle City?" Jessie couldn't help but ask.
"Yes. Most suspect that the Core Access Card must be hidden in the Tower of Mirrors. Unlike the Tower of Sun and the Tower of Curses, this Tower isn't a manmade one and holds countless secrets. Even that the Tower of Mirrors has a total of 100 layers is nothing but an assumption. To this day, no one has managed to clear the 70th layer." As Silvia spoke, Charles couldn't help but frown.
'It's vaguely similar to the Mystic Worlds game.' Charles thought.
"Tell me more about this Tower of Mirrors."
"Aren't you going off-topic?" Arayn asked while tilting its owl head.
"No. Taking more about the Fate Professor in the open area would only attract his attention. We'll discuss this in detail once we move to a safe location." Charles said with a smile and turned his gaze towards Silvia.
Meanwhile, Silvia showed a wry smile and nodded.
"In truth, there is a legend that says the 24 Noble Warlords weren't the ones who created this Tower but something else. When they were constructing the Miracle City around 9,000 years ago, this strange Tower started to materialize in the middle of the city and released endless amounts of monsters from inside. Thankfully, the Noble Warlords did their best to protect the residents and started their first exploration. After some research, they learned that the monster would spawn from time to time out of nowhere and even drop strange gems when someone defeats them."
"Class Gems, isn't it?"
"Yes. The myth says this is the first appearance of the Class Gem pathway in Edhen. Like this Mysterious Tower of Mirrors, three more towers appeared in different parts of the world at that time and caused countless confusion. But those three towers were soon monopolized by the Churches."
