Chapter 746: Family!
Chapter 746: Family!
"It was the strangest thing ever. I was suddenly hit by a wall of white and the next thing I knew, this guy was pulling me out of a hole in creation. And he was so rough with me..! ... It was delightful..." Karliah gushed.
Bekka punched the woman hard in the stomach until she doubled over.
"I've only been aware of you for twenty minutes, you old hag. Don't think I won't hurl you back into nothingness and forget about you all over again."
Karliah looked up at her daughter with tears in her eyes.
Bekka raised a brow as if she though that she might've gone too far.
"My baby has gotten so strong..! That punch almost knocked my organs out of my back!!"
Karliah leapt onto Bekka and began nuzzling her, as if she were the one who were part canine.
"W-What are you doing?!"
"I'm praising you! My baby girl has become more big, beautiful, and powerful than I ever could have dreamed! This is the greatest day of my life!!!"
Bekka wasn't good with this style of blatant, straightforward affection. She was usually the one giving it to others, not sitting on the receiving end.
And this brand of motherly affection was surprisingly effective on the family's resident void goddess.
She supposed that she could let it slide just this once.
"So you... Are my mother?"
Lailah was staring back at a Japanese woman who could have easily been mistaken for her older sister.
She was very beautiful, with slight wrinkles that gave her a much more distinguished look than what her daughter had.
"...I am. And though I have not always proven myself to be worthy of that immense honor, I can only promise you that I love you sincerely."
Lailah smiled softly at Sei's sincerity and hugged her softly.
"An entire past is dead and behind us. We can leave it there and start anew as a family. I've always wondered what it would be like to have a mother."
Even though she was usually quite tough, Sei cried silently on her daughter's shoulder.
Lailah didn't quite understand why this moment was so emotional for her, but she wasn't exactly going to press her for answers either.
"I do wonder though... What of my father?"
Sei's tears dried up instantly. "Sweetie... Let's not spoil this moment by dredging up conversation around that thick-headed bastard Geb."
"Old man Geb was my father???"
Sei and Lailah stared at each other briefly- realizing they may have had a lot more to talk about than they had anticipated.
"We... Also did not get the chance to get as close to you as we would've liked."
Seras had a relatively hard to read expression as she listened to Hajun and Kirina speak to her in rather shaky voices.
Unlike Sei, they told her everything.
They shared with her all of their failings. Their regrets, and their apologies.
But it wasn't all doom and gloom.
They shared with her the things that they loved about her. The pride they took in raising her, the joy they got from living together, and the immense delight they woke up with every morning just knowing that they had made things right between them.
And now, it was clear that they thought it would have all come crumbling back down.
Seras was the one who wore her heart on her sleeve. In times of war, she was the first one to draw her weapon in defense of her family. She was also the last one to put it away.
She never considered where she could have inherited that trait from. She figured that it just came naturally.
She was blood itself. Born to spill as much as she liked, as long as she liked, in defense of what she loved. Dive deeper into the story on m-vle-mpyr
Her belief was that was all there was to it.
But as she stared at Hajun and Kirina, she felt a familiar inkling within them.
There was no amount of blood that Seras' parents would not spill for her. No amount of atrocities that they wouldn't commit.
...It was touching. They were like birds of a feather.
A very, undeniably, irrefutably, fucked-up feather.
Against all of their expectations, Seras threw her arms around them first and hugged them both "It is very nice to meet you both... please keep taking care of me in this life as well."
*Sniff, sniff* "Oh, pookie-snookems!!"
"Eh?"
Audrina was having a smaller, but no less meaningful reunion.
She was staring at a woman who looked a lot like her, but didn't seem all that thrilled to be alive.
"So... You are my sister."
"I am. But I'm not really expecting you to go out of your way to start treating me like it. It's not like I was that lost without you before..."
"You seem to resent me."
"A little hard not to given everything. You found a new family and forgot all about me, but why would our adult lives be any different from our childhoods?" Isabelle rolled her eyes.
Despite her crassness, Isabella was having a hard time hiding her hurt.
Her sister had it all. The bed full of hot lovers, house full of adoring kids, and she got to be one of the most powerful and beautiful entities within the multiverse.
And Isabelle..? She got to be the sister of the fifth empress. She was over all of that by now.
Her neices and nephews remembered to call her more than her own sister did sometimes.
It was almost like a cruel reminder that she had no place in her life whenever she heard the sound of her phone ringing.
After all, she invited literal strangers into her home before she even considered inviting her sister. It was hard not to get a hint that big.
"You abandoned a kingdom in my lap so you could go run off and seduce your best friend's son, you didn't give me a say in whether we should kill our father or not, even though he was terrible to
both
of us, and you never-"
"I'm sorry."
"I… What?"
"I'm aware that it might not mean much given that I'm not actually the version of me who wronged you, but I truly am sorry.
I watch my daughters interact everyday. They pick with each other, gossip, and sometimes bicker, but I've personally seen them cry over how much they all mean to each other.
The thought that I could have deprived you of such a bond with me…. Saddens me. I'm sure it must have hurt."
Isabelle stared at her sister awkwardly as if she were unsure what she was now supposed to say.
She was just using the opportunity to rant a little bit… she didn't think that her sister would actually use the moment to apologize properly.
Now, she didn't know what to do with all of her anger..
Audrina gave her sister a nurturing hug that was just like the kind she used to give her as kids.
"I promise I will never neglect you again. From now on we'll talk everyday. And of course you should come to live with us. I should have asked you before."
After everything that Isabelle had heard, she began to get slightly misty eyed.
She was still at a loss for words, and vulnerable.
"…You… smell like sex."
"You should probably get used to that."
"Gross."

Abaddon sat at the head of the breakfast table; watching every interaction discreetly as he sipped from a glass.
The wives weren't the only ones chatting. Everyone was trying to make up for lost time, to some strange results.
It was weird seeing his grandfather Helios have a friendly conversation with someone other than Darius.
Just as it was strange to see his mothers suddenly fawning to chat with their new extended family.
Even his Aunt Lusamine and his Demon lord Uncles were jumping in to converse. Which was very unusual for Belohegor.
While half of the girls were out chatting with their miraculous new family, Ayaana was seated beside him- albeit missing a few of her trademark tattoos and new colors in her eyes.
'It's a strange thing… waking up with family that you didn't know you had.'
Abaddon stared at Ayaana sympathetically.
Lisa's parents had passed before she even got married. The same for Lillian, Erica, and Tatiana.
Eris' parents didn't want her because of her skin color. And Sif didn't have one single positive memory of her own parents.
'If you feel, dejected then I'm sure it's possible that I can-'
'You stop right there, Abaddon. You've done enough already for everyone here. Let our loved ones rest, and let those who treated us poorly be forgotten. We are more than happy with all that we already have.'
Abaddon smiled at his wives softly. It was a rare look that those in the outside world had never seen.
'… When is the last time we went on a working trip?'
Ayaana raised a brow as she peeled orange segments and fed them to her husband.
'We haven't heard about any trouble lately… Would this be an unofficial trip?'
Abaddon started to nod when suddenly the doors to the dining room opened and the family's resident human came walking inside.
"Mornin', gents… I could smell all the confectionery sugar from my…"
Courtney rubbed the crust and delirium out of her eyes; realizing that the house was a lot more full than she was used to.
"Courtney, baby, come sit down." Ayaana beckoned. "You've just missed introductions."
For everyone who was sent to oblivion, they only recalled Courtney as a cute little girl with a serious potential aptitude for violence.
Now, they were seeing her as a full grown, heavily tattooed adult.
They had the appropriate reaction to this of course.
All: "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!"
