Chapter 772: The Adventures of Prime-Man!
Chapter 772: The Adventures of Prime-Man!
An event of seismic consequence was occurring out in the vast waters of the cosmos.
A large meteor the size of earth's moon was barreling towards a planet. An extinction level event.
Occurrences like these are not rare in the grand scheme of things, and occur at literally every second of every day.
This is just the nature of all things. For new things to grow and arise, all that was made prior must be cleared away.
But every so often, you may find those who try to overturn natural law.
This time, it was this world's version of super heroes.
Wearing bright capes with bold insignias across their chests, they fought to undo this cruel course of nature that was thrust upon them today.
There were almost a hundred of them assembled. They looked like a small army.
One by one, each of them slammed into the asteroid with full force to push it away from their planet.
Their titanic show of unity yielded results. The meteor's course was completely altered- and their planet avoided an untimely demise.
For today at least.
Cheers and celebrations were in order.
And the one who was showered the most with these accolades was the hero who put it all together- Prime-Man.
At six feet tall, he was a chiseled and distinguished looking older man with a head of neat silver hair.
His square jawline was the fixation of every woman over the age of thirty years old.
Wrapped in a super suit of white and gold, he was a beacon of hope for the defenseless and a harrowing leader for his friends to rally around.
Prime-Man led the charge for the heroes of eternity in what some had called a moronic crusade with no victor in sight.
And yet, things had gone much differently than what initial data had predicted.
Proving to any who had doubts that all that was needed to overcome crushing adversity was nothing more than humble tenacity.
"Hey, Prime-Man… Do you see that?"
Prime-Man's rival and best friend, Dark Brooder, pointed in a direction far out in space.
Now, everyone was looking towards their actual moon. Or more accurately, one of the three that floated above their planet.
There, Prime-Man saw 'something' sitting on the surface of their planet's third moon.
"I... I'm not too sure, old friend. Come."
As he flew towards the moon, some heroes followed in his flight path as they also had a rather eerie feeling all of the sudden.
The group of heroes soon closed in on the outsider that seemed have been watching them all along.
"...Who are you? What are you doing out here all by yourself?" He asked worriedly.
"..."
"Is... What are you a better question? I don't think just anything can survive out here with no breathing apparatus, so you must be quite the special flavor of alien."
'Special' was an understatement.
The women in the legion of heroes would categorize this being as the most beautiful that they had ever seen.
His body looked like it was made from the cold dark all around them. It was glossy and cold to the touch just like a precious metal.
His eyesore dark and empty, his expression lifeless and impossible to read.
It was hard to stay whether or not he was looking at the heroes, or whether he was just looking through them to a plane that they could not perceive.
But he wouldn't talk. Maybe he couldn't.
"He may not understand our language, Prime-Man." A hero reminded.
"Oh, yes.." The hero rubbed his chin like he was lost deep in thought.
"Do we just leave him out here?" Another heroine asked.
"Why not. He doesn't appear to be in any distress and it's not like he even called us over here in the first place." Dark Brooder was already turning away.
However, Prime-Man didn't look quite ready to fly away just yet.
He beckoned for a hero in the crowd to join him in the front. A man in a silver helmet who oozed magical potency out of every pore.
"Do you think you could cast some universal translation spell to-"
"I believe that it would be best if we leave, Prime-Man. Right now."
Prime-Man raised a silver eyebrow. "What? But can't you still-"
'Listen to me, old friend.' The ancient mage responded telepathically. 'Something is terribly amiss here. I strongly urge you to heed the dark one's advice and leave.'
'I-'
'This one is dangerous. His form is deceptive, desirable, and I cannot perceive his soul or the nature of his existence. He should not be here and the Elder Lords tell me that neither should we.'
Prime-Man needed little more in terms of warning. After all, it wasn't like his old friend to be this short with him out of the blue.
He gave the strange being one last look before he and everyone else started to fly back to where they came.
The hairs on the back of their necks stood up so rigidly that it looked like they had taken viagra.
But midway back to their planet, a horrifying event unfolded right before their eyes.
Two enormous black holes opened up above the planet's north and south poles.
Demonic hands half the planet's size unfurled from the dark chasms.
They casually dug their claws into the planet's surface and began to tear apart the planet right before their very eyes.
The heroes were horrified.
"I feel this so often it no longer moves me in one direction or the other.
I suppose that this must be the burden carried by the mortal spirit.
Believing that you can overturn the natural flow of events that were written before you were even conceptualized."
No one even turned back to address the new voice. They were all too shocked by the scene in front of them.
The ethereal hands treated the entire planet like an empty tin can and crushed it between their palms.
The explosion that ensued as a result washed over every hero present and knocked them around with ease.
Prime-Man was hurled all the way back to the surface of the moon.
He hit the ground hard and took a series of tumbles before rolling to a dead stop.
"You bought yourself a few more seconds of time with your monumental effort. A feat most worthy of merit to some. But to myself it matters unbelievably little."
Prime-Man's face was marred by pain. His expression devoid of any hope or salvation.
He looked up at the being now standing above him and found the entity staring down at him with veiled pity.
"Y-You... You did this..?"
"It had to be done."
"LIAR! YOU MONSTER!!"
Blinding white beams of energy fired from the silver haired man's eyes. They passed right through his adversary like he was made of smoke.
The hero lunged for his neck with the speed of a shooting star.
But the being caught him by his head and slammed him back into the ground.

Prime-Man fought against the titanic strength of his enemy with everything that he had, but nothing seemed to be good enough. It was as if he had no power at all.
"My wife... my children..! You killed them!" He roared.
"I did."
"Y-You don't even care.. You monster!!"
"..." The being returned to silence.
He stared out into the cosmos in front of him.
The hands he'd conjured hadn't stopped at tearing apart the planet.
They had combined into a named eldritch horror that decimated the assembled heroes.
The creature turned their bodies into ash, forced them to evaporate as if they were made of smoke, and crushed them like mounds of rubble.
"...I've never had the luxury of being in denial about what I am. Your words do not inspire the emotional introspection that you wished to evoke in me. A pity... for both of us."
He applied the faintest bit of pressure to Prime-Man's skull, and caused his entire cellular make-up to collapse in on itself.
The last sight he saw was that of everything he'd ever known floating through a burning abyss of space.
-
Bashenga sat alone from his original perch on the moon- staring at all of the carnage he'd wrought as if he couldn't allow himself to forget it.
As if he had to burn this sight into his memory.
Suddenly, his ear twitched.
He closed his eyes and lay onto his back- his headache clearly growing worse.
"...I haven't sensed you for a long time now. Have I actually inspired your attention?"
Bashenga seemed to be talking to no one, but showed no signs of insanity.
"...Don't give me that. You don't know what it's like to... Alright, maybe you do, but I don't want to hear it. I haven't quite sunken that low yet."
Still, it seemed like Bashenga was only talking to the cold recesses of space.
"Are you going to leave anytime soon? I don't have a fancy for entertaining company, and last I checked you weren't supposed to be here anyway."
"..."
"You're boring me. I hate to cut this short, but.."
Bashenga suddenly sat up with a more serious look in his eyes. "I've been followed... Leave. Now."
Barely even a minute later, a familiar portal opened up right in front of Bashenga's seat.
