Chapter 172: Loathsome Aslan Representative
Chapter 172: Loathsome Aslan Representative
A nauseating crack sounded from Large Arena 2 as the scout representative's arm contorted at a horrifying angle.
Scout students had innately fast reflexes so the Oboni representative managed to raise his dagger in time to block the blow, however, the guy didn't expect the unbelievable amount of force behind Shye's attack.
His body couldn't take it.
His right arm holding the dagger was destroyed while he was sent flying outside of the arena, unconscious.
Not only due to the force of the blow but also due to the overwhelming pain of his arm instantly breaking.
Once the crowd's brain caught up, they erupted into thunderous cheers and applause.
"Holy crap…Why didn't I watch Colzen before?!"
"Hahaha! That's what you get for being a bandwagon fan!"
Everyone knew that Oboni was the underdog in this match but nobody expected them to lose in a single move.
Imagine going through a lot just to secure a spot in the championship stage only to be defeated in one move.
Brutal.
[Congratulations! You've earned 26,780 points!]
Meanwhile, Shye's face changed into a slight frown of dissatisfaction as he descended from the arena.
'Tch…only 26,780 people? I guess being an underdog is the best way to earn points…'
Shye thought inwardly.
Still, points are points so after a few moments, his dissatisfied heart went back to being happy.
"Hahaha, that was fast…"
Siegfried said, wrapping his arms around Shye's neck as the Colzen group victoriously returned to their academy station.
On the way back, a shocking thing happened.
Something whistled through the air, flying in the direction of the Colzen representatives.
Fortunately, Ian noticed the projectile on time and warned everyone, extending his arms to stop the other representatives from walking as they waited for the projectile to pass through.
'Who the f–' Shye's thoughts were cut short upon realizing what the projectile was.
It was…an unconscious person.
They subconsciously turned their heads in the direction where the person came from and saw Damien's loathsome face.
The guy was staring at them with a mocking smile on his face.
'This bastard…'
Shye's immediately turned hostile, his joyful expression turning into one of cold fury.
He had not once forgotten the brutal scenes of his seniors being mercilessly humiliated by the Aslan representatives.
If one asked him which academy he hated the most, he would answer Aslan Academy without a second thought.
Shye heard from the deans that the current generation of Aslan representatives was among the strongest they've ever had and that they were the favorites to win the entire competition.
However, Shye didn't give a single damn whether they were strong or not.
He swore that once he got his hands on an Aslan representative, he would return the favor.
Naturally, it wasn't only Shye who stared daggers at Damien.
Except for Wendy who usually didn't give a single shit to such offensive actions, all six representatives, including Siegfried, were quite pissed.
"Oh?! Did you guys see that, the Aslan representative seems to be beefing with Colzen!"
"I hope they get matched up soon!"
As for the crowd, they were simply all too happy to see such developments unfold.
Some of them even wanted things to get a bit more chaotic, after all, the more intense the rivalry, the spicier the matches will be.
However, the deans, knowing that most of them were hot-blooded, repeatedly reminded them never to engage in brawls outside of matches since it would be detrimental to their future careers as adventurers.
The top-tier academies had been arrogant for a long time so the professional adventurers who came to scout things out, felt that their behavior was normal for a top-tier academy student.
Or rather, the adventurer guilds already expect these top three academy students to be arrogant so even if Damien acted like this, there would be no severe repercussions for him.
Thus, the Colzen representative squad forced themselves to calm down by taking a few deep breaths before continuing to walk toward their academy station, deciding to ignore Damien.
Meanwhile, somewhere in the crowd, a person clenched his fists so hard that his nails started digging into his skin.
'Why?! Why did they decide to change the rules this year?!' Elmer inwardly lamented.
If Colzen wins one more time, then his betting station will be history.
He made a few arrangements to help Colzen's next opponent but a best-of-one match was just too nerve-wracking for him.
If somehow Colzen manages to pull off a sneaky win, then…
'No! Never! They will never be able to defeat their next opponents!' Elmer consoled himself, his heart beating absurdly fast due to anxiety as he sincerely prayed for Colzen's defeat.

After an hour, all first-round matches were finally done.
Shye and the others had already calmed down and they were chilling inside the academy station, pleasantly surprised about the fact that they hadn't been called for their second match yet.
Soon, they understood why.
As they looked at the enormous holographic screen inside their academy station, they saw the host, Bart, gracefully walk up the stage, seemingly about to announce something important.
"Everyone, I hope you enjoyed the first round of matches. I apologize for the abrupt interruption, but I have a few things to say."
"First, representatives, please know that using buff skills to aid your teammates before a match is only applicable in one-on-one battles, it is not allowed in other match types."
"Second, I'm happy to announce that all the next matches will happen in the main arena."
"That's all from me, thank you for listening. The next round of matches shall continue shortly."
After hearing Bart's announcement, Shye and the other representatives felt a little excited.
At the beginning of the competition, their competitive spirits compelled them to strive for this moment and finally, they would be able to step into the main arena.
Slight smiles appeared on their faces as they daydreamed about gloriously showing everyone their true prowess, garnering the attention of the professional adventurers and possibly, even landing a brand partnership deal with a well-known blacksmith.
