Chapter 194: A Gathering
Chapter 194: A Gathering
"Hey! David! Wake up!"
Harry said in a stern voice, still a bit shocked after witnessing Aslan's prowess in the Three-on-Three match.
Thinking that they would be able to witness lots of abilities and trump cards, most of the representatives except for David and Wendy tuned in to the match.
However, who would've thought that the Three-on-Three match would end as soon as it began?
Fortunately, although they weren't able to witness lots of trump cards, they witnessed one which was probably the most important trump card Aslan Academy had.
The trump card belonged to Aslan's priest representative, Horcus, who astoundingly acquired the powers of time.
From what they saw, after around three seconds of casting, a small bluish-transparent cube materialized out of nowhere, abruptly stopping the Freia representatives from moving.
What came next were easy killings by the other two Aslan representatives, easily decapitating all three of their adversaries in a span of three seconds.
Seeing how the last Freia representative could move before he was killed, they estimated that the effect of the time cube lasted for around three seconds.
The problem is, even though they knew the effects of the skill, the Colzen representatives still didn't know how they would deal with the said ability.
At worst, they would have to concede the Three-on-Three match.
The reason why Harry immediately woke David up was because it seemed that Aslan Academy would win 2-0.
Although the hunt match was still ongoing, it was evident that Aslan was winning, hence, they must strategize, and fast.
Still groggy, David forced himself to get up and walk towards the meeting table.

"Terrifying!! A fitting word to describe this year's Aslan roster! Who would've thought that even Freia, one of the three kings, would be swept?! Will Colzen simply suffer the same fate?!!"
The commentator's passionate voice once again sounded on all four enormous mana-powered speakers.
However, the Colzen crowd wasn't in the mood to be excited.
They were a bit shaken after witnessing Aslan Academy's might.
It seems that they were indeed a notch above even when compared to Eusford and Freia.
As a result, Colzen supporters couldn't shake off their concerns that Colzen might face a fate similar to all those who opposed Aslan.
Meanwhile, inside Blas' office, there was a massive gathering of around fifty men, all aged forty to sixty-five.
All of them wore majestic capelets embroidered with different insignias.
Some of them stared out the window while some gathered around Blas, however, although a few of them seemed to not care about the ongoing discussion, in truth, they were all closely listening.
"I must say, Lord Blas. There seem to be lots of good seedlings this year, especially at Colzen Academy. Who would've thought that such a mediocre academy could produce such fine young adventurers? Thanks to them, we wouldn't have as fierce of a competition amongst ourselves this year. Hahahaha!"
"Hahaha! I was about to say that, Guild Master Jin. In the past, all fifty of us here had to compete for 21 students from Aslan, Eusford, and Freia. Although the seedlings from the other top 16 academies were quite good, they just weren't at the level of the seedlings from the three academies."
"Heh, what you say is true, Guild Master Rock, however, how many of these golden prospects were actually true talents? Aren't there more successful adventurers from the other championship stage academies compared to those from the big three?"
"Hahaha, you're spitting facts, Guild Master Peck. Indeed, although the seedlings from Aslan, Eusford, and Freia were indeed the best seeds at first glance, in the end, they were always overtaken by those from other academies. They're simply too used to being spoon-fed!"
"Hahaha! Alright then, I guess Guild Master Lish will not compete with us for the students of the big three academies. That's good news." NovelFire-exclusive
"Ahk..No! I would still compete for them…of course."
Hearing the lively discussions from the guild masters of the top fifty guilds, Blas smiled, thinking about how true their words were.
Indeed, although the seedlings from Aslan, Eusford, and Freia were always off to a blazing start as adventurers, most of them were overtaken by their peers after a few years.
However, there were exceptions.
After all, two of them even attained the status of one of the six titled adventurers.
"Lord Blas, who do you think will win? Colzen or Aslan?" Guild Master Jin asked, snapping Blas out of his musings.
"It is quite hard to predict, however, there is one thing I'm sure of," Blas said, flashing a mysterious smile towards the guild masters whose ears perked up, curious about what Blas had to say.
"Oh? What is it that you find certain, Lord Blas?" Guild Master Rock replied, rubbing his stubble as he curiously waited for Blas' reply.
"I wouldn't go so far as to call this a prediction, however, if things went down to the wire and Colzen Academy's Shye Crowley is participating, then there is a high chance for Colzen to win."
Hearing Blas' words, the guild masters were pleasantly surprised. Most of them got their eyes on Shye and hearing Blas praise him immediately increased their interest.
One guild master, in particular, Guild Master Soaring Raven, had immense interest in him.
If not for the finals, then he would've already extended him an invitation.
Nevertheless, Shye would need to start his career at a guild branch and progress through the ranks to reach the main headquarters of his guild.
That's how it usually goes after graduation from an adventurer academy.
Although it looks like the guild masters of the main branch weren't sincere in their invitations due to this arrangement, every young adventurer knows that it wasn't like that.
After all, all of them were nothing but young unproven adventurers and although they might secure some fame for themselves through the Adventurer Academy Competition, ultimately, they have to prove themselves in a professional setting–in the real world.
Suppose these young adventurers couldn't even secure a promotion for themselves.
In that case, it just means that they were nothing but false prodigies and it was better for them to rot in other guild branches than be devoured by the competition in Valenzia City.
