Chapter 205: The Most Unusual Of Defeats
Chapter 205: The Most Unusual Of Defeats
Somewhere in the stands, a bald geezer watched the proceedings with intrigue.
'Oh? The lad's team made it to the finals? He's doing quite good for himself, no?'
Based on his thoughts, it seems that the man had just arrived.
Looking towards the main stage, the old man saw Siegfried, struggling to land a blow on his absurdly nimble opponent.
He frowned.
'Why does this lad look so much like him?' mused the old man, taking a deep breath before deciding to stop thinking about the matter in his head.
He came all the way here so it would be a shame for him to not enjoy the competition.
It's been decades after all.
On the stage, Siegfried slashed away. Although he was getting beaten black and blue, one wouldn't think so after seeing the smile on his face.
'Why is this bastard still smiling?! Is he a masochist?! Filthy! Filthy! Filthy!' Lesurii thought as she skillfully backpedaled while dodging, parrying, and blocking Siegfried's blows.
She was decisively winning, however, one wouldn't think so at first glance.
Gnashing her teeth in frustration and all.
Finally, after what seemed like an eternity of nightmare for the Colzen crowd, their respected senior, Siegfried Lionheart, finally landed a hit–a shallow one.
Blood spurted out from a relatively minor cut on Lesurii's wrist after failing to perfectly parry Siegfried's increasingly accurate blows–his frightening adaptability skills starting to have an effect.
'Tch, how is this bastard keeping up?! Just stay down! You lecher!'
With frustration welling up in her heart, Lesurii decided to end the match, jumping back to create some distance and activate her trump card.
Although nothing special happened except for a sinister red aura oozing out of her pores, Siegfried raised his vigilance–his battle instincts telling him that Lesurii was trying to end the duel.
Right before his eyes, she once again disappeared.
However, this was nothing new to him. As per the premium lessons they had back in the academy, scouts can only reappear either behind him or in front of him.
With his insane battle instincts, he already determined where Lesurii would reappear–behind him.
Once again, Siegfried decisively turned around and entered a slashing motion, however, right before he hit Lesurii, he turned around once again.
'What?!'
*CLANG*
A petite figure was sent flying as the tachi and kunai clashed, prompting the Colzen crowd to cheer wildly, however, right at the next moment, their cheers quickly died down, replaced by horror.
Blood spurted out once again, this time, from Siegfried who barely managed to shift his body to avoid a one-shot kill from Lesurii, who suddenly reappeared behind him.
He didn't know how but there she was–behind him again...
Although this blow seemed to hurt quite less than usual.
Unbeknownst to the Colzen crowd, their nightmare was just beginning.
Lesurii's skill allowed her to continuously teleport behind her target with no cooldown at all, however, the caveat was, that her strength was reduced by 70% so she had to continuously stab Siegfried before her trump card, [Phantom Assault Lv.3(Uncommon)], timed out.
Still, it would almost be impossible for Siegfried to keep up with continuous teleports, he was only human after all.
Hence, after a whole minute, Siegfried's body was riddled with holes.
However, to people's surprise, he was still standing–even gradually performing better and better.
Naturally, Lesurii's heart was slowly consumed by frustration. She felt as if her opponent was an unkillable cockroach who became harder and harder to slay as time went by.
Her eyes and instincts weren't fooling her though, Siegfried was good at adapting to his opponent's combat style so the more she dragged the match on, the stronger Siegfried became.
Slowly overwhelmed by the crippling fear in her heart, Lesurii became desperate–her moves becoming more and more predictable.
Finally, a few more minutes later, as if a combat prophet, Siegfried blocked all of Lesurii's attacks, sending her flying with each clash, though, she always reappeared behind him right after so the comical scene of Lesurii hurtling through the air replayed multiple times, gnawing at her dignity and morale.
Eventually, she decided to temporarily stop teleporting behind Siegfried to preserve both her sanity and honor.
However, how could she have predicted that Siegfried knew that she would do so at some point?
Activating his trump card, [(Light) Seraphim's Rage Lv.3 (Rare)], Wings of Light suddenly grew from Siegfried's back, not only enhancing his physical abilities but also his overall appearance.
Aside from the temporary attribute enhancements brought about by the transparent golden wings, his tachi blade was also enveloped by the same familiar light, improving both its range and cutting power by a notch.
Sensing the changes in her opponent whilst mid-air, alarm bells rang in Lesurii's head.
Unfortunately, She was now caught between a rock and a hard place.
If she decides to teleport, the prophetic bastard might simply read her moves and slay her in one hit, conversely, if she chooses to keep hurtling through the air, Siegfried would likely catch up and trap her.

If only her strength attribute wasn't reduced by 70 percent…
Never had she wished for her ultimate skill to time out so quickly.
Just a short while after Siegfried's transformation, he immediately used [Dash Lv.4] to catch up to Lesurii who was still fiercely shooting through the air.
Out of desperation, she tried to do something that Siegfried would never expect–teleport right in front of him.
Sure enough, Siegfried, even with his insane battle instincts didn't expect her to perform such a crazy maneuver.
Only, she hadn't planned her next move.
After appearing in front of the charging Siegfried, both representatives had no time to react.
Lesurii was caught off guard by the astonishing speed of Siegfried's empowered dash, just as Siegfried was surprised by her sudden appearance in front of him. Consequently, their lips… accidentally met.
However, contrary to the myths that touching lips with the other sex would feel good, this one didn't.
How would it be when the guy's lips were zooming at a terrifying speed?
Clashing head-to-head or rather– lips-to-lips, the nauseating sound of a skull hitting another skull reverberated in the entire arena.
As a skill-empowered warrior representative, Siegfried was naturally the tougher one, hence, after the fearsome clash of lips, an azure ray enveloped Lesurii, sending her out of the main stage back to the Aslan ringside seats.
