Flashy Adventurer System : Show Off to Get Stronger!

Chapter 209: Realization Of A New Development Path

Chapter 209: Realization Of A New Development Path

"Hohoho, what a challenge. Hang in there, young lad." The bald old man murmured.

Tired of dealing with the puny humans, both wyverns slowly landed on the ground after realizing something.

Their elusive targets continued to evade their attacks by leaping and darting away, prompting both of them to opt for a more patient approach to finally put an end to the slippery adversaries.

Moving one leg in front of the other, the wyverns menacingly marched towards Shye and Damien, occasionally craning their necks and tilting their heads as they trotted closer and closer.

Realizing what the wyverns were planning, both representatives gripped their weapons tighter.

Their little hearts couldn't help but tremble as the distance between them and the wyverns gradually shrunk.

Naturally, both representatives wouldn't allow themselves to be cornered so easily.

Sprinting around the edges of the stage were the two representatives, engaging in a game of tag against wyverns, only, the stakes were too high.

The academy of the representative who gets "tagged" first, loses the pivotal round.

Unfortunately, try as they might, the wyverns easily caught up with a single weak flap of its enormous wings, once again pressuring them–trying to get both Shye and Damien to use up their skills in a bad way.

However, how could the finest of young adventurers from Valenzia be fooled by such tactics from a monstrous creature?

At the end of the day, the greatest strength of humans is their intelligence.

Although struggling, Shye and Damien managed to keep their composure–their remaining trump cards–close to their chest.

Finally, the last fibers of the wyverns' patience snapped, prompting them to open their mouths and start attacking once again.

A mix of scarlet and salamander orange-colored flame threatened to blast out of the gaping maws.

Fortunately for Shye, the face of the Colzen ember wyvern was close, allowing him to use his remaining ability: [(Dark) Fallen's Howl Lv.1(Rare)].

Shye's newfound ability might be considered relatively weak for a "rare" skill. However, when combined with other compatible (Dark)-type skills, its effects undergo a significant boost.

When used independently, [(Dark) Fallen's Howl Lv.1(Rare)] would simply provide Shye with a mediocre strength, dexterity, stamina, and vitality attribute boost.

Underwhelming for a skill of such rarity.

However, when his adversaries had stacks of [Fear], the skill would instantly double the [Fear] stacks.

In addition to this, when used along with other Fallen skills, the effectiveness of the attribute boost would increase by ten percent for each active fallen skill, making [(Dark) Fallen's Howl Lv.1(Rare)] extremely compatible with [(Dark) Fallen's Wings Lv.1(Rare)] and [(Semi-Passive)(Dark) Harrowing Aura Lv.1(Rare)].

Overpowered as the skill combination might be, it was only possible because Shye had the system, if not, then he could consider himself lucky should he manage to obtain even one of these three rare skills.

Just when both ember wyverns were about to incinerate Shye and Damien with flaming breaths, the two young representatives immediately activated their trump cards.

A blood-curdling howl resembling those of demons in ancient legends echoed across Valenzia Arena, making the crowd's hairs stand on end.

The ember wyvern was no exception.

Since the wyvern already had a hundred stacks of [Fear], Shye's howl immediately doubled the stacks, promptly after, the wyvern stood petrified, not daring to breathe its flames out.

Naturally, Shye didn't stay idle.

Realizing that his gamble paid off, he immediately darted the hell out of the wyvern's face.

On the other hand, it looked like Damien failed to avoid the point-blank flamethrower.

Seeing the current developments, the Colzen crowd erupted into cheers, however, shortly after, they stopped.

Damien was right there–unharmed.

Enveloping him was a cracked barrier. It was damaged, however, it seems like even the ember wyvern failed to destroy the barrier from Damien's armor.

While escaping, Shye glanced at Damien.

'BULLSHIT! WHERE THE HELL DID THIS BARRIER COME FROM?!' inwardly cursed Shye.

He already used his final skill and his ordinary skills would probably still need around a minute to go off cooldown.

He was out of options. At this rate, he would lose.

'F*CK IT! I'm ending the match right here! System!'

After thinking of the word "System" the familiar blue holographic interface appeared in front of him.

One thing he noticed was that the stronger an opponent was, the shorter the effects of [Fear] would be, hence, he only had a few seconds to think of a solution.

Since he was out of skills, it was either risk revealing the existence of his system or face defeat.

Fortunately, he recently invested a lot of points in intelligence.

He never felt his brain work this fast before.

In just a single second, he already thought of a solution to lessen the risk of divulging his greatest secret.

Pretending to grab something from the "spatial bag" strapped around his left hip, Shye took out one of the weapons he looted from the labyrinth's weapon chest: An old emerald-colored life staff.

He then aimed the life staff at the creature before tapping away, appearing as if he was casting some sort of priest-class spell.

He already had a few skills in mind and all he had to do was purchase them.

"H-Hey! Look at Shye Crowley!! Why is he using a life staff?!"

"Could it be that…he can cast the skills of a priest?! Wait, does he even have the mana pool to do that?"

"Impossible! To have a subclass at such a young age…"

Naturally, his weird actions caught the crowd's attention, however, not a single one amongst the people in the crowd except for the bald old man knew what he was actually doing.

His acting was simply too perfect.

Shye wanted to level up [Swallow Step Lv.1], however, he ran out of time.

Realizing that the Colzen Ember Wyvern was out for him again, Shye started running–in contrast to Damien who stood still, confident that his barrier would outlast the hillbilly Colzen representative.

He didn't have the ability to escape the wyvern anyway so he decided to hole up.

As for Shye, who was low on stamina but still high on mana, he decided to learn a bunch of uncommon skills from other classes.

There was no rule regarding warriors learning and using skills from other classes, in fact, top-tier warrior adventurers do learn a few non-warrior skills which complement their fighting styles.

Only, it was hard to find compatible skills, unlike for Shye who simply had to tap and learn any skill he wanted as long as he had the points to do so.

Realizing this fact, Shye couldn't help but smile. It seems that he would have a development path designed for him and only him.

Who knows? If he managed to earn enough points in the future he might have three or more classes–basically a one-man army.

It would be a tall task to do so though. After all, it would only be harder and harder to earn points in the future.

If he wanted to earn a lot of points, then he had to constantly surprise those around him.
