Chapter 273: A Shocking News Flash
Chapter 273: A Shocking News Flash
"Hoh, so there are different tiers of passes huh?" Shye muttered, visibly curious.
He's aware that he possesses a considerable amount of money; nevertheless, if he squanders it recklessly, he might find himself unable to afford the items that caught his interest.
On the other hand, if he didn't purchase an auction pass of the appropriate tier, then there was a possibility of his head separating from his body.
Humans are inherently greedy, after all.
Scanning his eyes over different queues with a difficult expression on his face, Shye took a deep breath.
'Haaah, let's take our time and think of the pros and cons of each tier.' Shye pondered, as he looked at the first of the four queues starting from the left. 'Basic pass huh? I'm planning to purchase quite a few big items so a basic pass would probably get me killed. As for an elite pass…it provides nothing other than clout, utterly useless.
This leaves me with just two options, the super deluxe pass, and the VIP pass…'
The super deluxe pass provides Shye with a private room which would aid him in keeping his identity a secret, however, that's all it provides.
On the other hand, a VIP pass would not only give him a spacious room but also lots of amenities including a plush seat, snacks, alcoholic beverages, and a private attendant.
Naturally, Shye wanted such a relaxing experience at the auction, only, the price of a VIP pass is an absurdly high 20,000 silver coins.
To be honest, he does have the means to afford it, but he's concerned that opting for the VIP pass might influence whether he ultimately acquires an item or not.
After thinking hard for a few minutes, Shye ultimately decided to queue up on the third one, the super deluxe pass queue.
'Haaah... I was really eyeing that VIP pass, but the super deluxe option appears to be more suitable for my current circumstances…' He inwardly sighed. 'Well, as long as I earn a lot of money, there are lots of chances to do so in the future.'
Silently consoling himself, Shye waited for his turn.
The White Clover Auction House's sales process was efficient, it was just that there were lots of people who wanted to join the auction, hence, it took Shye around an hour and a half before he managed to purchase a pass.
Still, if the rumored items would actually be up for sale, then everything would be worth it.
Leaving the queue after successfully purchasing an appropriate pass, Shye had nothing to do.
'Guess I'll chill and explore the city for the rest of the day!'
Since he has a lot of time on his hands, why not walk around the entire city and note the locations of the important establishments and facilities?
And so, Shye did.
One foot in front of the other, Shye sauntered along the wide streets, enjoying everything within the city.
He purchased a few snacks, entered a few shops, and relaxed at the city's plaza for a short period, where a huge holographic screen suddenly appeared.
It seemed to be some kind of "news flash".
Displayed in the holographic screen was a party of adventurers—all of them looking extremely mighty and menacing as various peak-tier equipment with customized designs covered their bodies.
The adventurer party appears to be engaged in an intense battle with a creature resembling an ember wyvern. However, the creature on the screen was much larger, and its scales had a unique coloration, blending black, purple, and green hues.
'Adamantite Adventurers!' Shye inwardly exclaimed, he had seen one before in Valenzia's Blacksmith Competition.
Without a doubt, these guys are adamantite adventurers.
If the region had to assemble a huge strike force such as this, then it meant only one thing: the creature they were hunting was at least of the (S-) rank.
Suddenly, a smart idea spontaneously popped up in Shye's mind due to his zealous curiosity about the winged creature.
'Appraisal!'
[Name]: Poison Drake
[Creature Rank]: S-
[Description]
Possessing incredibly resilient scales and harboring one of the deadliest poisons known to Adthiopia, the poison drake stands as a formidable adversary for most beings, including seasoned high-ranked adventurers. Even a faint exposure to its poison is sufficient to incapacitate four fully grown and trained individuals.
While there are items offering poison resistance and antidotes available, their exorbitant cost renders them impractical for many. Furthermore, the creature's physical prowess is unparalleled. Essentially, meeting this creature is akin to encountering a flying nightmare.
Warning: if you are below the adamantite rank, immediately flee if you encounter this creature.

"H-Holy crap! Even the third level of my appraisal skill isn't enough to fully uncover this monstrosity's secrets?!" Shye accidentally exclaimed in utter shock.
Fortunately, the people in the plaza were too absorbed in what was happening on the screen, allowing him to avoid a less ideal situation.
Realizing that no one paid any attention to him, Shye breathed a sigh of relief and focused his attention on the holographic screen once more.
The adventurers, albeit dozens of times smaller than the drake, seemed unperturbed.
Their lofty dispositions remained steadfast even in the face of such a flying nightmare as though nothing in this world would be able to bring chaos to their seasoned and serene hearts.
Most of them were in their 40s except for two who seemed to be in their early 30s.
As purple poison balls, green gasses, and terrifying dives wreaked havoc on the vast empty clearing, the seven adventurers gracefully avoided everything the drake threw at them, skillfully rolling and masterfully jumping sideways to evade various projectiles and strikes, leaving the Poison Drake frustrated.
In addition to this, the adventurers who aren't being targeted by the fierce draconian use terrifyingly mighty skills to whittle down the creature's vitality, causing a myriad of elements, slash marks, arrow lines, and holy essence to roar and rage across the spacious battleground.
The news flash seemed to have started late and the battle seems to have been ongoing for at least a few hours now.
Hence, after around fifteen more minutes, the creature roared one last time before collapsing on the ground—devoid of life.
"Dear citizens and fellow adventurers of Blackburrow! We are thrilled to announce that one of the seven perils, the (S-) ranked Poison Drake, has been successfully subdued, all thanks to the valiant efforts of our adamantite-ranked adventurers hailing from Iron Jin, Crimson Embers, Raven's Blade, Yudaina Yama, Bloodsteel, and Hong Yun Adventurer Guilds.
While six threats still roam free, we assure you that our heroic champions will swiftly address these challenges in the coming days, enabling the adventurers of Blackburrow to resume their activities without delay. We sincerely appreciate your understanding and support!"
