“People who know too much often come to no good end.” Mandy leaned closer to Jack. Her words were like a threat. “Aren’t you afraid of getting involved?”

Years of risking life had refined Mandy’s temperament, making her resemble a beautiful snake ready to strike at any moment. The living embodiment of danger that deeply attracted Jack.

He showed no fear, instead reaching out and pulling Mandy closer by wrapping his arm around her waist.

The warmth of their bodies, even through their thin clothes, was clearly felt by each other. Jack looked directly at Mandy and said, “Then I wouldn’t have taken you home.”

Mandy stared at Jack. Over the years, he had shed his innocence and become a complete social elite. Now, he looked aggressive.

Mandy didn’t flinch. She reached out and hooked her hand around Jack’s neck, smiling lightly. “So, you’re pretty amazing, huh?”

Jack remembered the terrifying wound on her waist and sighed softly as he carried her to the bedroom’s bed. “You can keep it a secret if you don’t want to talk about it. Rest well these days. No one will be able to find you.”

Mandy didn’t expect him to give up easily. He even turned and headed to the kitchen to start cooking.

She gazed at Jack’s back, suddenly feeling a strange sensation in her heart.

Would someone take a stranger home at risk just because of one night?

Jack was efficient. He prepared two dishes and a coffee in just half an hour.

He even found a bedside table from somewhere and placed the dishes on the table.

“I didn’t expect you to cook so skillfully.” Mandy smiled. Her pale complexion lost its radiance and gained a desire to be cared for.

Jack didn’t reply. After preparing the cutlery for Mandy, he looked at her and asked, “Any help?”

He seemed serious. Mandy guessed that if she nodded, he would actually feed her.

“No, thanks.” Mandy lowered her gaze and took a sip.

She looked at Jack with surprise. “It tastes good!”

Jack slightly relaxed his clenched hand and said to her, “Have some more if you like it.”

After saying that, he turned and left the bedroom.

Watching his figure, Mandy was touched.

And so, Mandy stayed in Jack’s house.

Jack was busy with work and often came back late at night. But whether he was home or not, he always prepared three meals a day for Mandy in advance and even included fruits.

Although it had only been a few days, Mandy felt like she had gained several pounds. She even got used to this kind of life.

For her, this was not necessarily a good thing.

So, on the day her wound healed, Mandy bid farewell to Jack.

Jack paused in his actions of handling documents. His deep gaze fixed on Mandy. “You’re leaving?”

“Yes. My wound has almost healed, so I can…” Mandy didn’t finish her sentence before Jack stood up and walked towards her.

Jack stared at Mandy with complex emotions in his heart. “You can continue living here.”

Mandy then realized that Jack was so tall that she had to look up to meet his gaze.

She chuckled, “You want me to be your sugar baby?”

Her smile was beautiful. But Jack didn’t like her in that state, he frowned, “We can get married right now if you say yes.”
