Chapter 136: Young Fellow?
“Sheng’er, is that you?”
As Xu Disheng rode on the Yin Yang Diagram to Zhenhai City, he left behind a massive black and white phenomenon above the public square that attracted the gazes of everyone present. The people in Nourishing Heart Hall had already left the hall to see what was happening.
Xu Chaoyang had an intense reaction to his appearance and began to mutter to himself.
When Zhao Huichun heard what he said, he asked, “Regional Lord Xu, you know the cause of this phenomenon?”
Xu Chaoyang glanced at him, then turned back to look in the direction of the public square, where the light in the skies was already beginning to fade. “I have a guess. But we’ll know once we get there.”
Nourishing Heart Hall was only a few hundred meters from the public square of Zhenhai City, with several magnificent pavilions in between. In a few breaths of time, everyone in the hall arrived in the square.
“Sheng’er?!” Xu Chaoyang exclaimed in a trembling voice as he laid eyes upon the youth in the black and gold Daoist robe standing in the square. His usual dignified expression was nowhere to be seen, replaced by a look filled with emotion.
It wasn’t that the two necessarily had a deep familial affection for one another. But Xu Chaoyang could see that Xu Disheng had already reached an unfathomable cultivation realm from the phenomenon in the sky. And the current flourishing state of the Xu Clan had much to do with Xu Disheng’s connection with the Youyang Dao Palace.
Xu Disheng turned to look at him, the gleam in his eyes becoming brighter, making it almost difficult for people to look at him. “Grandpa Chaoyang.”
“It really is you!” Xu Chaoyang came forward hastily, reaching out both of his hands to stroke Xu Disheng’s head. But the youth turned away slightly, avoiding his touch.
Many of the people living in Zhenhai City were gradually beginning to fill up the city square, wanting to see for themselves what kind of figure formed out of that phenomenon that occurred just now.
Xu Chaoyang let out a sigh, then calmed his surging emotions and retracted his hands. He called out, “Ruyang Army, report in!”
“Regional Lord!” Several elite troops nearby came forward and knelt before him. Although they were filled with confusion and awe, they still meticulously obeyed orders.
Gazing at the figure who appeared in the city square, Xu Chaoyang said in a serious tone, “Immediately enforce a nighttime curfew. Those who disobey will be cut down on the spot!”
“As you command, Regional Lord!” The ruthless elite soldiers dispersed, starting to drive away the curious citizens who had come to see what happened.
“Is he…?” Xu Fu muttered, his expression complex. He seemed to vaguely recognize Xu Disheng’s likeness and continued, “With his return, will the outcome of this matter with Ye Zhaixing change?”
“Isn’t he the older brother of Sister Yan? And the person that Father often mentioned…” Jin Wuyou murmured, a hint of curiosity appearing in his crafty gaze as he carefully sized up Xu Disheng. “He doesn’t look like a mortal at all. He seriously looks as eye-catching as a god who descended from the moon.”
Xu Chen, Xu Qian, Xu Ziyu, and the other members of the younger generation were staring fixedly at the youth shrouded in black and white radiance in the center of the city square.
All of the small and large families of the Ruyang and Lin’an Regions aside from the Jin Clan had recently risen to power by following the Xu Clan, so none of them knew Xu Disheng. At this moment, they were all whispering and discussing amongst themselves in low tones.
Zhao Huichun was the only other Xiantian stage transcendent present aside from Xu Chaoyang. When he saw the subtleties in the interaction between Xu Chaoyang and Xu Disheng, he stepped forward to try and mediate between the two. He smiled and said, “Young fellow from the Xu Clan…”
Before he even finished speaking, the black and white radiance surrounding Xu Disheng flickered, and the phantom image of the Yin Yang Diagram appeared. With a light flick, Zhao Huichun’s arm was separated from his body. Blood gushed out as it flew through the air, scattering in its wake.
“Young fellow?” Xu Disheng repeated with a callous gaze, eyeing Zhao Huichun, who was howling in pain.
“Sheng’er, this person is Regional Lord Zhao of the Yecheng Region! He’s our ally! How could you do this?” Xu Chaoyang exclaimed, his expression changing wildly. He quickly rushed to Zhao Huichun’s side to help him stop the bleeding.
Beads of sweat formed on Zhao Huichun’s forehead as he moaned quietly in pain. There was a hint of fear in his eyes.
He was a Xiantian stage martial artist, but his arm had been decapitated by some indescribable profound light. He couldn’t even put up any resistance! Just who was this youth from the Xu Clan?
“Lord Zhao!”
“You dare…!”
The close aides that Zhao Huichun brought with him from the Yecheng Region finally regained their composure.
Seeing Zhao Huichun receiving an injury right before their eyes, they erupted with anger. One of them, who was exceedingly loyal, immediately pulled out his sword and charged at Xu Disheng!
“No, don’t!” Zhao Huichun said hastily as soon as he saw the scene unfolding before him through the excruciating pain.
However, his words were just a moment too late. That loyal aide was already right in front of Xu Disheng, bringing his sword down upon him!
.
The youth didn’t even look up. A black and white profound light flashed around him, and the person in front of him simply disappeared altogether, vanquished without a trace.
“So an ally of the Xu Clan can be rude to me then, is it? I’m afraid even the Daoist Lords of Youyang Dao Palace might not have the right to call me ‘young fellow’,” Xu Disheng said, settling his gaze on Xu Chaoyang.
“Big Brother!” Xu Yan cried out as she came forward, unable to hold back her tears. “Father hasn’t been taking good care of me and Mother. Mother has already been living alone for several years, and I…”
When Xu Disheng reached out to pat Xu Yan’s long, silky hair, he was reminded of the long years past when she was just a 2 or 3 year old little infant, happily calling him brother in between suckles on their mother’s teat.
“Bring me to where Mother is,” Xu Disheng said to her, glancing over the crowd. He saw Xu Xiao’s complex gaze, but didn’t inquire further. He simply stated that he wanted to go to where Jin Yu was.
Xu Yan nodded, but she didn’t start moving in the direction of Jin Yu’s pavilion. She silently strode forward and started to use all of her force to pull at the barbed shackles wrapped tightly around Ye Zhaixing’s ribs. But she was a fragile girl without much strength, so the shackles didn’t budge in the slightest.
“Your husband?” Xu Disheng asked, looking at Ye Zhaixing, who was bloodied and on death’s door.
She nodded vigorously, grasping Ye Zhaixing hand, which was already ice cold from the blood loss. When she felt the chill in his body, she couldn’t stop the tears from flowing down her face.
Black and white profound qi wrapped around his body, and the alloyed iron shackles disappeared without a trace. Ye Zhaixing’s wounds also healed somewhat. The bleeding stopped, and his deathly pale complexion regained a bit of color.
Ye Zhaixing struggled to maintain a kneeling position as he said disjointedly, “Thank… you… Big Brother…”
Xu Disheng just shook his head. The phantom image of mountains and rivers appeared once more beneath his feet, and with a flourish of black and white profound light, Xu Yan was lifted into the air and carried in the direction of the city’s pavilion complex.
Xu Chaoyang’s complexion fluctuated dramatically throughout all this, but in the end, he just let out a sigh and turned heel, walking off into the night.
The small and large aristocratic families all looked at each other in dismay. It wasn’t hard to guess that in the coming few days, it would be known to the entire You Province and its surrounding Regions that a youth far above the existence of a Xiantian had appeared in the Xu Clan.
