Forbidden Zone of the Human Race

Chapter 330

Chapter 330: Heartache

The audience’s hearts ached. Everyone saw Xiang Ning’s resolve to devote himself to battle, laying down his life for it. How did they know? Xiang Ning had injected himself with a chemical, not even hesitating to turn back. He looked ready to fight the two beasts to the death.

Yes, indeed, he was going to fight them to death.

“Let’s see what the Eighth Gate entails!” Xiang Ning laughed, “Eighth Gate, Gate of Shock! Open!”

It was shocking indeed!

Status: Tier six, one-star martial artist

A few more cuts appeared on Xiang Ning’s war-torn body, as if he had been sliced open with a knife. On a deeper level, his cells were both strengthening and breaking down. His physical body couldn’t withstand the activation of the eighth gate. It didn’t matter who they were, or how powerful, anyone would either die or become paralyzed from it!

When Xiang Ning turned off Taunt, the Simian Sage slowly recovered from its berserk condition. It looked at Xiang Ning, wanting to rage again, but was intelligent enough to understand how manipulative the human in front of it was.

The primate roared, and the Tyrant Spider immediately pounced on Xiang Ning. It was fast, and while Xiang Ning could dodge it, he had to jump. But when he jumped, a medium-sized rock flew at him like a bullet.

The Simian Sage knew that the devious human would borrow the momentum of something else to dodge it again. It was right—Xiang Ning used the knives. It had much experience in battling humans.

Xiang Ning had only dared to jump because he had other plans, but never would he expect the primate to hurl a rock at him. Forget about the size, just the speed at which the rock flew at him was terrifying. One must know that a flying airplane could fall out of the sky just because it hit one bird. josei

Thus, he immediately sent two knives to intercept it.

Hunter Mk.4 knives were equal to a tier four beast in terms of damage inflicted and hardness. The ordinary rock successfully shattered the knives into pieces, but its trajectory shifted and it fell sideways. One tier three beast didn’t dodge in time and was turned into bloody pulp, dying instantly.

Xiang Ning frowned. The Simian Sage in front of him was no simple beast. When it saw that he hadn’t been hit, it didn’t rage and lose control like other beasts usually did. Rather, it smiled a smile that made everyone extremely uncomfortable.

“Why do I feel like the gorilla changed?”

“Yeah, I can feel it too... it’s like it became smarter!”

“Teacher Xiang Ning is in danger!”

The Simian Sage didn’t attack mindlessly as it had before, instead commanding the Tyrant Spider to attack and hurling rocks from the side with great strength. Xiang Ning didn’t dare absorb any impact, so he struggled to fight. This was one of the times when the gap between man and beast could be seen.

The Tyrant Spider pounced and Xiang Ning dodged once again, but a rock flew at him like a bullet. His field of vision was blocked and his feet were still planted on the ground, but his upper body turned to move away. A lot of goo had already poured out of the Devourer, sticking to the ground.

When he saw the rock, he jumped and the leather pouch-like abdomen of the gigantic spider was struck by the sharp projectile. As it was a tier five beast, the rock wasn’t enough to kill it, but there were still consequences. An unidentifiable substance had been squeezed out of its body, making for quite a revolting scene. The audience drew a sharp breath, some almost vomiting. That was war.

Xiang Ning smirked and drove the Devourer into the Tyrant Spider’s head, instantly killing the struggling spider!

The Simian Sage hadn’t expected that at all, but it didn’t even glance at the Tyrant Spider, instead commanding other beasts to surround Xiang Ning. The audience finally understood just how violent beasts were.

Xiang Ning didn’t dodge and only occasionally needed more than one slash per beast. One by one, they died. All of them were commanded by the Simian Sage, who smiled like a devil.

Three minutes later, it ran out of rocks and more than forty beast carcasses lay on the ground. Gradually, Xiang Ning found the Simian Sage’s flaws through Keen Observation.

He charged with the Shadowmist Ghost Step. This time, he must kill it, because he was running out of time. If he couldn’t kill it in two minutes, his body would break down from the pressure.

Looking at Xiang Ning furiously sprinting toward it, the beast smiled that eerie smile once more. It hadn’t directly fought him, not because it was afraid of him, but because it had regained its rationality after Xiang Ning had deactivated his Taunt skill.

The Simian Sage picked up a tree trunk and gripped it like Xiang Ning held his Devourer.

Before the Great Disaster, animals of the Euarchontoglires superorder were the most adept at imitating human behavior. [1]

Xiang Ning’s brows were slightly knitted. He saw many weaknesses on the beast’s body, but every spot was protected. It was a beast that knew itself very well. Just that point alone was causing a headache for Xiang Ning. However, no matter how well-protected they were, as long as it moved, its defenses would break.

“Triple Slash!”

Xiang Ning wanted to test its abilities, so he suddenly moved using his Triple Slash. Thus, he was much faster than his usual speed. He arrived before the Simian Sage in a blink.

“Mountain-Splitting Slash!” he cried in a low voice, adding Oscillate using his Mental Power so it vibrated thirty-one times per second, making the attack fifteen times stronger.

The gorilla blocked with the trunk in its hand, but it broke under the attack. Wood chips flew, and before his vision cleared, Xiang Ning’s Combat Instinct told him of danger. There was no choice but to obey Combat Instinct. He tightened his grip and the gray goo stuck to the tree trunk, taking him with it.

The very next moment, a palm slammed hard at the spot where he used to be. There was a thunderous boom and a fifty-centimeter-deep crater formed in the ground.

1. Ed note: Euarchontoglires is just a fancy word for certain types of mammals, including primates. I had to look that up, too, so here you go: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Euarchontoglires ☜
