Volume 1, Chapter 30: Lord of Underground Labyrinth?
Domiliune’s black skull was thrown against the wall, and then it fell on the floor.
Domiliune’s skull looked up at Lambert as it went into spasm.
?I… I should’ve been able to live for eternity… Gaining the truth of the world. Only a few hundred years is far from enough… Why? Just why did this happen to me? I gained a body that should’ve been able to live till the end of time and yet… Noo… MY WISDOOOM… MY WISDOOOOOOM…?
Lambert silently set a stance, gripping his greatsword and pointing its tip toward the fine crack on Domiliune’s skull.
?L-Lambert! K-KIlling me would be the greatest loss for the Kingdom of Regios! Y-You can still save me… Please… In the bin number 23568… In that passage…?
?My bad. I smashed it when I chased after you…?
Lambert had destroyed quite a few medicine containers and flesh golems when he’d chased Domiliune.
But, he couldn’t remember the number written on the medicines.
He was already too lazy to listen to Domiliune’s rambling.
?My, even if it’s only my thesis, to out-…!?
Lambert swung his greatsword to the side.
The skull was once again struck against the wall, and this time split into two halves.
?That mysterious fella finally died for sure this time, huh.?
When Lambert said those words, the eyes in the upper half of the skull let out a bright red light.
?My bad, Lambert-kun. Well, I guess you should understand the situation by now, right??
Domiliune continued on as Lambert relieved his stance.
?Don’t worry. Currently, my mana, which also contained my will, has been dissolved. I’m currently diverting the leakage for energy maintenance. The current me has lost everything. Nevertheless, my deepest apologies that the result of our battle will turn out the same as last time.?
After Domiliune finished her sentence, the underground labyrinth began to vibrate.
?So please die alongside me, Lambert-kun. You see, I’m the kind of woman who easily gets lonely. Granting this last wish of mine should be a piece of cake for you, right??
Domiliune’s final laugh resounded inside the room.
Lambert inserted his greatsword into the skull’s eye socket.
?They might leave this floor earlier than you, but you’ve got to catch up to them before it’s too late, you know.?
Lambert silently destroyed what was left of Domiliune’s skull, completely pulverizing it.
Maybe because it had used up almost all of its mana for the last tentacles attack, Domiliune’s skull lost its toughness from before.
Her skull turned into ash and scattered on the surface of the water.
A fragment of the ceiling fell right beside Lambert.
Lambert lowered his sword as he glared upward.
The underground labyrinth was on the verge of collapse.
I need to catch up with them as soon as possible. Her Maje-… No, Fiona should be able to save herself.
Lambert turned around and ran through the tunnel he came from.
On the way back, an undead that should have been inside of its cage was blocking his path.
?OUT OF MY WAY!?
Lambert fired his miasma full of killing intent toward the undead.
The undead’s shoulder trembled. It then stepped back while raising its guard against Lambert.
?HAAAAAAA!?
Without even stopping, Lambert swung his sword and cut the undead as he passed right beside it.
Keeping his guard up for pieces of falling ceiling, Lambert destroyed the undead. However, he couldn’t help but look back when he heard a loud sound from behind.
There, he saw that the pair of metal hands was still chasing after him, even though its master, Domiliune, had been killed.
However, the accuracy of its movements had fallen considerably compared to when Domiliune personally controlled it.
Maybe because it had lost its auto-repair function, the surface of the left hand was riddled with cracks, and its pinky finger was missing too.
Even so, it didn’t seem to affect its speed or destructive power, making it even more troublesome for Lambert since he wanted to avoid fighting inside the collapsing labyrinth.
Worst of all, in the previous battle, the top priority of those hands was to protect Domiliune.
Now that they’d lost their purpose, the hands might resort to anything. It wasn’t hard to imagine what kind of destructive power they would unleash to kill Lambert.
?What a stubborn fella…?
Lambert leaped toward the approaching right hand.
However, the left hand arrived faster than he thought, so Lambert struck the wall with his greatsword to dodge the sudden attack.
The left hand struck the place where Lambert would’ve been a moment ago.
That strike gouged deeply into the floor.
Lambert used the left hand to jump high in the air, raised his greatsword overhead, and then pierced its blade into the fissure in the ceiling.
He kicked the ceiling and, making full use of his heavy armor, pinned down the left hand upon landing on top of it.
Lambert got away from the left hand. As soon as he did so, the ceiling he kicked a moment ago collapsed, crashing right on top of the left hand and skewering it in a rain of shrapnel.
The left hand was buried under the rubble.
The remaining right hand came after Lambert, but it was no big deal for Lambert who could face two at the same time.
After all, the most annoying thing about the two hands was its seamless combination attack.
Using both hands, Lambert grasped the blade of his sword tightly and swung it like a bat, aiming for the right hand.
Lambert’s greatsword was custom made with special alloy for the Four Demon Generals; just like their armor, it was far heavier than it looked.
This was especially so for the slightly heavier hilt part since it was mixed with a lot of organ.
In fact, the hilt was intentionally made that way to prevent its user from getting overwhelmed by the extremely heavy sword.
That’s why attacking with the sword guard, which was also part of the hilt, would cause terrifying damage due to the centrifugal force behind the blow.
But, it was only possible in theory.
Not just anyone could perform that superhuman feat since one wrong move would make the user lose balance due to the overwhelming centrifugal force of the greatsword.
Only if that someone had talent and raw strength rivaling Lambert could they have the chance to master this extremely powerful method of attack.
He swung down the sword’s guard toward the right hand.
This one attack was enough to destroy the metal coating of the right hand, scattering it around the passage, and one of its fingers was ripped off, flying off in an entirely different direction.
But, that alone was far from ending their battle.
His eight slashes in a single second relentlessly pulverized the metal right hand.
?HAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!?
Lambert continued on, even after he pulverized the right hand until it lost all of its fingers.
It no longer had the mana source to protect its physical form.
The right hand that received one of Lambert’s most powerful strikes was thrown back, nailed on the wall behind it, and buried under the rubble.
