Chapter 309: He is hiding something

Arsansak, USA:

"Any updates about the person I told you to investigate?" Tang Li sipped her coffee, too bitter and dark for her taste but there was not even a frown on her face as the taste swirled on her tongue. 

"We have been trying our best but we could not find the person you are searching for,' Despite his fear towards the woman, the governor stated his point politely. When his men received a call from an anonymous caller informing them that their President wants to meet him, his people humiliated the person. After all, it doesn't happen every day when a random person pops out with the audacity to ask for governor.

But after five minutes, his office and villa were raided by the income tax department and his men received another call from the same number asking him if he was willing to meet their President or not. Realizing what was going on, his men informed him about the situation immediately. 

Placed in a dire situation, he was left with no choice but to meet this mysterious person but the other party changed their mind and just asked them to find a person's whereabouts. To hide the skeletons in his closet and escape the raid, he accepted the condition in an instant. As the governor, he held the ultimate power in the place so it was not a big deal for him to search for a person.

"No leads?" Tang Li leaned back on the armchair as she glanced at the man with narrowed eyes.

The governor gulped as he looked at the beautiful woman in front of him, as she looked at him with those cold eyes. He did not have an inkling of the woman's identity but he did not dare to offend her. He knew she had the ability to overturn his career in a snap of her fingers, he had experienced it.

Moreover, he was even more astounded by the identity of the person they were searching for.

"Get lost," Her voice was like the harshest of winter, able to give a person frostbite.

"I…I'll try…" Her head snapped towards him, as her eyes turned into slits.

The middle-aged man hurriedly scrambled off with his tail tucked in between his legs.

Tang Li leaned back on the armchair as she sighed.

"Come in," Her voice sounded somewhat hoarse, she did not even look at the person who entered inside.

Si Xiu bowed in front of her, "President, it has been more than a week and you have not eaten something properly neither did you have a proper rest," She kept the tray of food on the coffee table before observing the woman in front of her. Tang Li still looked like her usual self, but there were barely noticeable dark circles under her eyes, her face was a bit pale and one could feel her helplessness. "You should eat something and replenish your energy or else we won't be able to find President Mo like this," Her tone was professional as she tried to comfort the woman.

Tang Li looked at her secretary who had arrived at her doorsteps at the last moment and insisted on coming with her. No matter how she denied it, the usually obedient woman was stubborn this time and did not give up. In the end, Tang Li decided to bring Si Xiu with her because of her determination to tag along with them. Other than that, it would not give her brother a reason to doubt her if her secretary was with her. He would easily buy her alibi of the business trip.

She raised her hand towards the couch in front of her, indicating the woman to take a seat and Si Xiu obeyed as she gracefully sat there with one of her legs folded above another.

Tang Li sighed, "Why do you think did he disappear?" Her voice seemed to have drowned in the wind yet Si Xiu clearly heard her question.

She contemplated over it for a bit before opening her mouth to speak, "President Mo cares about you," She did not know the man personally, and her impression of him was solely based on the rumors but since that person has accepted him, it is obvious that Mo Yuhan cares for Tang Li.

Tang Li pursed her lips at the meaning behind her words. Even she had an intuition that whatever was going on is somehow related to her. But her brain is muddled by Mo Yuhan's disappearance. Was it too much for him to share his problems with her?

"You can say whatever is going on in your mind," Tang Li said when she saw Si Xiu hesitating over something.

"Um…President…. That man with you…"

"Li Yu? What about him?" Tang Li furrowed her brows. Was that man doing something behind her back?

Si Xiu nodded, "Yes… I think he knows more than he speaks about. He seems to be…"

"He seems to be hiding something from me," Tang Li completed the sentence for her. She had known it since the very first day that the man knew more than he spoke. Occasionally he would throw guilty stares in her direction but at other times he would act like nothing is wrong. 

Si Xiu was a bit stunned, "You already knew?"

Tang Li nodded.

"Then, why have you not done anything? Maybe we could get some clues from him which help us finding President Mo," Si Xiu was puzzled. It has been more than a week since they have been searching for Mo Yuhan. They even blackmailed the governor to get the current location of the man but even with his help, there was no progress in the investigation.

Since Li Yu possibly knows his whereabouts, she was confused as to why were they not doing anything to drain some information from him.

"He is as stubborn as a mule," Tang Li spoke up when she noticed her secretary's bewildered expression. Usually, she did not like to talk much to people she was not close to but she was oddly comfortable with this smart yet bubbly secretary of hers.

"Then we can spice things up to make him vomit the truth," Si Xiu suggested which made Tang Li chuckle.

"How so?" She asked.

Si Xiu leaned closer to her as she whispered the plan and amusement flitted across Tang Li's eyes. So, this little one is scheming too.
