Chapter 383 Wheel of Turnings

Chapter 383 Wheel of Turnings

As Ty shared the details of his recent ordeals, Lt. Daemon listened intently. Ty began by discussing the encounter with the Black Bulls' second in command, detailing the challenges and the outcome of their confrontation. He then moved on to describe the unexpected attack by the sea creature, recounting the events as they unfolded.

"I've known about the blood user since getting to the jail," Ty explained, his voice tinged with the stress of recalling the tense moments. He delved deeper into the incident involving his blade, how unexpectedly Erebos appeared, broke the blade, and turned it against him.

Choosing to withhold certain details, Ty decided not to discuss the creature inside of him just yet. He felt it was best to keep some information back until he had a better grasp of the situation and its implications.

Lt. Daemon nodded thoughtfully as he absorbed the information. "Sounds like you've had more than your fair share of surprises already," he remarked.

Lt. Daemon nodded slowly, processing the details Ty shared about the mysterious events surrounding his equipment. "I see, I do recall some chatter with the higher-ups about a hole in the armory wall and your sword having gone missing. Rusuf told them it was long gone and not to stress about it... I suppose that makes sense then."

He furrowed his brow, trying to piece together the conflicting information. "I don't understand this Erebos person you're dealing with. You say he's against you or your adversary, but from everything I've seen since meeting you, it seems more like he's trying to assist you from afar. Has he ever tried to give you any other weapons before?"

Ty paused, considering the question carefully. "No, not really. I can't... Wait, actually, there was this gauntlet that someone close to me—someone very close—mentioned didn't belong where it was found and refused me from using it."

He hesitated, recalling the odd circumstances. "He never gave a good reason, but I didn't have any reason to suspect he was lying right then and there. But perhaps Erebos planted that? Though that's all theory, I suppose."

Lt. Daemon shook his head, a mix of amusement and concern in his expression. "That's a whole lot of information I doubt I can handle right now, but from my side, it just seems like he's not all that bad. Perhaps he is grooming you for another event or something."

Lt. Daemon looked at Ty with a serious tone. "It's possible he is evil and all that, but it doesn't make sense—the people you care about are still alive. He must have some other motive. But worrying about that now is pointless. Let's see some of those flames in action before the arena starts.

I want you to try breathing techniques to help you focus."

Ty, puzzled, asked, "Why is that?"

"Everyone knows you're strong, but your fighting style is fast and you burn through your reserves quickly," Lt. Daemon explained. "When we use our skills, it drains an energy supply we still don't fully understand. You have to manage it, or else you find yourself drained."

He continued, "Learning to focus and meditate during downtime helps restore this quicker. It's hard to describe with words—it's more of a feeling we have. Though I don't think you use skills like we do, it might be similar with the energy source."

Taking in the advice, Ty nodded, ready to try out the breathing techniques to see if they could enhance his control over his energy during combat.

Ty nodded and stated, "Okay, okay, I got it." Closing his eyes and standing still, Ty brought his hands together, forming a bottom cusp. Black flames emerged, encircling an ink drop of silver that floated at the center.

"This is new," he remarked, his voice tinged with curiosity. "I noticed it when I struck the Blood user. I'm not sure of its purpose, or why Erebos melded it into my flames. Honestly, I don't even know how he did it, but it seems to come out whenever I use my flames."

LT Daemon nodded, prompting, "Have you used it all yet?"

"Yes, though I'm not sure to what degree. I initially planned to just strike the blood user with my flames, but the silver... it carried a different weight. When I connected, it felt twice as strong."

"I see," LT Daemon responded thoughtfully. "Well, let's go over a meditation tactic that you can use when you're in the thick of it. First, I want you to expel as much energy as you can."

Ty listened intently to Lt. Daemon's instructions, nodding to acknowledge the wisdom in exhausting his energy as a form of control and replenishment training.

"Okay, let's do it," Ty agreed, stepping back to give himself some space. He focused, feeling the familiar surge of energy pooling in his hands. With a deep breath, Ty unleashed the black flames, letting them roar into life around his hands, the silver ink drop swirling intensely at the core.

He pushed the flames outward, expanding them further than usual, forcing himself to the brink of his energy reserves.

As the flames flickered and waned, Ty felt the drain, a deep pull at his core that left him momentarily lightheaded. He steadied himself, taking slow, measured breaths, following Lt. Daemon's guidance on meditation.

"Now, draw back. Slow your breathing, focus on the center of your being. Imagine pulling your energy back in, like drawing water up a well," Lt. Daemon instructed, watching Ty's technique closely.

As Ty focused on his breathing and tuned into his inner self, he sensed streams of energy pulling back into him. It was like drawing water from a deep, colorless well, lifeless until it made contact with him. As he harnessed this energy, his surroundings began to whirl, and time seemed to slow.

Confusion set in until the familiar wheel structure he had used several times before started to swirl before him. What is going on? Ty thought, trying to make sense of the unfolding situation.
