Chapter 40: Master Sheng Pays a Visit
He Yan gritted her teeth. It was easy for Grandma Jian to say. She could just rely on Jian Shuxing or Jian Shupeng’s sons to inherit and carry on the family legacy.
However, what about her? Did she have to rely on her nephews to feed her in the future?
He Yan suppressed her dissatisfaction in her heart and continued to smile. She said, “Let’s think about this later. Let’s wait until Yujie finishes his college examinations.”
The smile of Jian Yujie’s face gradually disappeared. In its place was an inevitable look of disappointment.
However, he quickly recovered. Jian Yujie was someone who had strong mental fortitude. If not, he would have listened to his mother’s wishes many years ago. His mother’s attitude towards these things was rather tough and unyielding.
At this moment, there was an unexpected guest that came to visit the Jian family – Zhai Yunsheng.
This visit surprised and puzzled Grandpa Jian.
He knew long ago that Zhai Yunsheng was living with the Yu family next door. However, he hadn’t expected that he would come to visit.
After all, the two families were not close, and based on his social standing, there was no reason for Zhai Yunsheng to visit him.
Many people wanted to visit Zhai Yunsheng these days. Most of which were declined by Yu Simiao.
Grandpa Jian hadn’t considered visiting Zhai Yunsheng. He didn’t want to forcibly create a relationship with the Zhai family or the Tianxing Group.
And thus, although Zhai Yunsheng lived next door, they wouldn’t communicate or interact.
He Yan was also surprised. She also heard about Master Sheng before.
Everyone who was in the social circle knew that Master Sheng came to Hengyuan City. It was impossible for He Yan to not know.
He Yan had initially wanted to visit Master Sheng. However, she was persuaded otherwise by her husband.
Her husband thought that their family didn’t associate much with the Zhai family. There was no point in forcibly trying to make this connection and possibly making a fool of oneself.
It was then that He Yan decided to not go and meet Master Sheng.
However, she didn’t expect to meet Master Sheng at the Old Jian Residence.
He Yan thought to herself that indeed, the older you are, the more status and standing you have in society. Master Sheng had been in Hengyuan City for quite a while now. This was the first time that he has visited others, and that person turned out to be their Grandpa Jian!
Grandpa Jian personally went to greet the guests. The rest of them continued to sit in the garden to drink tea with Grandma Jian.
Jian Yiling held a teacup in her hand and quietly sipped from it.
Jian Yujie sat next to Jian Yiling and introduced her to magic tricks that he recently learned. Most of which were from books or tutorials that were online. He had either learned these in secret or figured these tricks out by himself.
Although Jian Yiling didn’t understand magic, she could see Jian Yujie’s enthusiasm and talent for magic.
On the other hand, He Yan was unable to hold herself back. Her mind was not focused on drinking tea.
When Grandma Jian saw He Yan being unable to sit still, she sighed to herself.
Compared to He Yan, Grandma Jian liked her granddaughter and grandson much more.
It didn’t take long for Grandpa Jian to come back. This time, he brought back two young men with him.
One of which everyone recognized. He was Yu Xi, the son of the Qiyue Group.
Yu Xi’s appearance was outstanding. His attractiveness and figure were both top-notch.
However, he still couldn’t be compared to the man who stood beside him.
That man beside him was the person who Jian Yiling had met earlier. He was previously leaning on the green sports car.
“Please take a seat, Mr. Zhai,” Grandpa Jian said with a neutral tone. There was no sense of admiration or servitude contained in his tone. Grandpa Jian treated Zhai Yunsheng in the same way he treated his other guests.
Zhai Yunsheng sat down opposite to Jian Yiling. His eyes were solely focused on her.
An eerie smile played on Zhai Yunsheng’s lips. The smile made people feel that their privacy was encroached upon.
