Chapter 130: Set Pt. 5

Chapter 130: Set Pt. 5

Chapter 130: Set Pt. 5

Slash!

He only used his scimitar once. He didn’t activate a skill, or use any kind of special technique.

However, the result was disastrous.

"Set…!"

The Hunters and Heroes of the Nile died as they cried out his name. They stared at him, eyes blazing as their upper and lower bodies were separated with a single blow.

“These simpletons are simply idiots who will just become ghosts.”

Set looked at them again while brandishing his scimitar.

They were Hunters who worked with the title of Heroes.

However.

“These simpletons will simply rot now.”

Most of them were drunk on power and couldn’t even live up to their titles.

Within Egypt, the Nile meant absolute power, and these Heroes were the backbone of that absolute power. They had changed everything to be in their favor and persecuted the people of Egypt for not being Hunters.

“These simpletons are just idiots.”

Set continued while inserting his scimitar into the chest of a Hero who didn’t die after the first blow.

“A ruler is the law, the law that all things must be equal before.”

That was his philosophy.

Those that he had cut through scattered into sand, and his authority belatedly was invoked.

[<The Typhonic Beast of the Desert> supports your determination.]

Set heard the voice of his Sponsor.

“Whew.”

He had a pleasant smile.

Most Hunters usually didn't like their Sponsors.

Their gazes, gazes that always seemed to be looking down upon them, were burdensome and unpleasant. Moreover, they would always mercilessly abandon the Hunters when they didn’t achieve whatever the Sponsors had wanted.

However, Set was different.

"I'll make you even happier."

He had a very good relationship with his Sponsor.

His Sponsor had always been a dependable presence for Set, and a partner that he would spend the rest of his life with.

Step.

Set walked out of the sand-filled hallway.

Whatever his scimitar touched would turn into sand.

Devastation.

That was his Authority, and it was an Authority that he felt was absolute.

“Hyung-nim,” Set muttered.

Soon, he would be at the top of the pyramid.

It was his long-cherished desire.

To kill his brother, to take the throne.

Smirk.

Set laughed.

"I will be a much better ruler than my brother."

‘May my voice ringing through the halls reach Osiris…’ Set wished as he walked forward.

“Die!”

Hunters continued to storm toward him. Set had thought that he had killed quite a few, that they would have caved to his might, but there was still no end in sight.

“These simpletons are just frivolous.”

Set swung his scimitar again.

It was obvious that things would change. To think they couldn’t recognize their new ruler.

“These simpletons whose deaths don’t even matter.”

Swish!

The sand in the pyramid fluttered without stopping.

***

"There is an explosion in the Nile...” someone reported in a serious tone.

However.

Smirk.

The person receiving the report was smiling with his back to the person reporting to him.

Odin.

He, the president of the Korean Association and ruler of Asgard, was listening to the news of the Nile.

“Most likely…it’s something that Set has caused. We’ve lost contact with all of our sources inside the Nile."

"Of course, that’s the case," Odin chuckled like an old man even though he was middle-aged.

Set had been building a partnership with Asgard. He may have already identified the identity of Asgard’s other sources hiding within the Nile in advance.

“Because he is a wise fellow.”

This accident had happened not long after Set had said he would break off his cooperation with Asgard. Moreover, the cause of all of that seemed to be one person.

‘Is it that brat again?’

The Underdog, Lee Jun-Kyeong.

Odin had seen and heard things through Baldur.

'Set and the Underdog have been in frequent contact with each other.’

Baldur was a loyal man and didn’t miss reporting a single thing. Odin knew what was happening in Egypt down to the most minute details.

‘Set’s interest in the Underdog seems quite great.’

Set seemed to be overly interested in Lee Jun-Kyeong.

Moreover.

‘Set and Lee Jun-Kyeong have also clashed.’

Odin wasn’t sure of how much Lee Jun-Kyeong already knew, but Baldur had also seen the day when the Hunter had collided with Set.

Baldur was that much of a loyal man.

“So that’s how strong he is too,” Odin chuckled.

It was already expected that Lee Jun-Kyeong would blow a sandstorm in the Nile.

That was why.

“This is enough, go.”

Odin had prepared quite a bit.

Odin sent the reporter out and momentarily closed his eyes before opening them once more.

Soon.

"Let's start the meeting."

Odin began to speak, now sitting in a golden conference room rather than in the president's office of the Association.

He was now in the conference hall of Asgard and right now.

“...”

“...”

“...”

Dozens of Asgardian heroes had already been called up to wait for Odin.

"Set has revolted,” Odin murmured as he slowly looked around at the congregation.

"And so."

Odin's mouth twitched up into a smirk.

"The topic of today's meeting is..."

His voice thundered through the conference room.

“Our agenda regarding the Nile.”

The Nile.

Because of Set, that meant the huge secret organization of Egypt would fracture and blow up.

That meant the collapse of the massive secret organization called the Nile, and there was one other important thing.

‘A chance.’

It would also be an opportunity.

As for how to proceed with this, they would have to look at the situation and talk.

–In the name of Odin.

Within the conference hall, someone’s face appeared.

Baldur.

The Hero was still inside the Nile, Egypt.

He opened his mouth slowly and reported to Odin.

–I’ll be starting the engagement with Set soon.

Baldur.

He would begin a battle with Set.

Everyone in the conference room looked at the screen in front of their eyes.

Some put their chins up on their hands, while others sat with their arms wrapped around themselves.

Someone looked at the figure with sleepy eyes.

Soon enough, on that screen, a real battle of Heroes was about to begin.

***

“Goongje!”

“Snort!”

Fenrir and the princess cried out, dissatisfied. They were not able to participate in this battle.

Because of their large size, they would get in the way of those participating in the battle in their original forms. The princess had to fall back without doing anything at all, and Fenrir was relegated to only playing the role of support from the back.

The two shouted as if they were dissatisfied with their situation.

Clang! Clang!

The front lines were filled with the sound of clashing iron.

Won-Hwa and Jeong In-Chang were preventing the Jackals from proceeding forward while the sound of Inebu’s clashes rang through the air.

“Ha-a-eup!”

Jeong In-Chang moved his body like crazy, as if showing off the incredible power he had accumulated so far.

His greatsword swung about swiftly.

However.

Clang!

He wasn’t able to harm the Jackals whatsoever.

Jeong In-Chang had become a Hero and earned the title Siegfried, but he still ended up biting his lips at his inability to break the stalemate.

“...”

"It's not that you're weak,” Won-Hwa said to Jeong In-Chang as he threw another needle, keeping the Jackals in check.

It was obvious that the Jackals’ individual abilities couldn’t reach Jeong In-Chang and Won-Hwa’s level.

“Their cooperative skills are beyond imagination.”

Their consecutive linked attacks were as natural and strong as if they were one entity. They had gathered together and could exert more than twice as much power as when they were alone.

“What in the hell kind of training could they have done to…”

This difference wasn’t a matter of sponsorship.

It was a matter of control.

Jeong In-Chang and Won-Hwa hadn’t yet spent much time together. Furthermore, there was Inebu, who was a powerful Hunter in his own right, but had never cooperated with them.

Lee Jun-Kyeong and his party may have much better individual abilities, but in this kind of situation, they were unable to grasp the light compared to their enemies.

To make matters worse.

"Avoid it!" cried Inebu.

Jeong In-Chang and Won-Hwa quickly threw themselves to the side.

Shhhh…

Some sort of object, seemingly black hands, appeared and disappeared where they had just been up until that point.

The floor turned to dust.

It was the ability of the man wearing the black dog mask, Anubis.

“It looks like we’d die from that, huh?” Jeong In-Chang joked. He had a hunch that they would die instantly if they were hit by one of those black hands.

However.

Boom!

There were reinforcements on their side as well.

While she couldn’t stand on the front lines as she had to protect Horus, she was still a dependable supporter.

Her magic struck Anubis, and while the man in the black dog mask hastily used his black powers to stop it, he stumbled for a moment.

Moreover, they had other reinforcements as well.

"Ice Bomb!"

Although it may have been a terrible memory for Jeong In-Chang, there was still the Familiar who had made its own memories with the Hunter, Hyeon-Mu.

The skull was also supporting them.

Therefore, due to the help, they were barely able to maintain the balance.

“Mr. Lee!” Jeong In-Chang shouted.

Nonetheless, the balance could collapse at any time, as there was another reason why the party was at a disadvantage beyond being outmanned.

They had something they had to protect, and it would be catastrophic if even a single enemy crossed the lane.

“Please hurry!” Jeong In-Chang shouted again while swinging his greatsword.

Flicker!

A blue flame began to form on the edges of his greatsword.

***

“This is the first time we’ve met swords like this, right?” someone said with a sharp smirk.

In response, Set, without any hesitation, swung his sword to cut the face in front of him. His attack was worlds apart from the basic swings he had half heartedly done up until now. The sword skills that he had built up brick by brick through skill and training were extremely apparent.

It seemed as though his blade had cut through the man in front of him with a diagonal slash.

Slash!

However, in fact, he had actually cut straight down as the blow was obscured using his desert Authority.

He was using a mirage.

Clang!

A strong sound of iron clashing rang out, and sparks flew.

Even though he had attacked his opponent with an attack that mixed tricks and feints without end, his opponent had still blocked the blow.

Poof!

With an intense flash, the power that turned everything into sand disappeared.

“You’re strong,” Set said as he smirked.

In front of him was a smiling face.

As Baldur had said, this was the first time that they had clashed with their swords.

Although it was already common knowledge that Baldur, Oh Hyeong-Seok, was strong, Set still admired his strength.

“How impressive.”

It seemed as though the Hunter had been hiding his strength. The Baldur that he knew was someone who could never have been his match.

However, what was in front of him was completely different.

“This really is difficult,” Baldur remarked, still smiling the same way as he did before.

Set had tried to cut through Baldur with all of his might, as it would be best for him to reduce the damage to the Nile and quickly complete the rebellion.

However, the man in front of him was still smirking in an annoying way even as he complained about how difficult this clash was.

“Do you mean to say that you’re not taking this seriously?”

Baldur’s smirk meant that he still hadn’t done his best yet.

The glint in Set’s gaze changed.

At the same time, Baldur’s smile suddenly disappeared.

“Things are getting serious.”

His face was stony and had become subdued, noticing the change in Set’s demeanor.

“All I was supposed to do was stall…”

Baldur took a step back and raised his sword.

“But it seems like this is going to be so troublesome to deal with.”

A brilliant light was emanating from his sword. The light was similar to the rainbow glimmer that Heimdall produced, but at the same time, it was a completely different.

Then, that light.

Shhhh.

It headed toward Set.

Sand began to gather into Set’s empty left hand–the sand that had been produced through his authority by killing the Hunters was clumping into his empty hand and morphing into the form of a sword.

At the same time, something red and black began to gush out of his body, almost like palpable darkness.

“…!”

As Baldur was shocked by the energy, Set made his move.

"If you don't get out of the way, you'll die."
