Chapter 37
Chapter 37
C37 – Exclusive Divine Artifact
“How many zombies are there?” Tan Chong inquired swiftly.
“Roughly ten thousand,” Qiu Hanh responded casually.
“You’re actually going to hunt them?” Tan Chong was astounded.
A group of ten thousand zombies constituted a Small-scale Zombie Tide. Even a Level 2 Evolver might not escape unharmed.
Realizing the misunderstanding, Qiu Hanh clarified, “Not all the zombies will come out at once. At most, we’ll face twenty or thirty at a time.”
Understanding dawned on Tan Chong, and he nodded. “Take me with you to hunt zombies tomorrow.”
“Sure thing, Mr. Tan,” Qiu Hanh replied with enthusiasm.
Hunting zombies was risky, but they had managed to kill some recently and had gained a bit of experience.
With Tan Chong’s prowess, the danger would be significantly lessened.
“Qiu Hanh, is every cave outside occupied?”
Glancing around the cave, Tan Chong suddenly realized he had yet to find a place to stay.
“Yes,” Qiu Hanh answered, then glanced at Qiu Jing, seemingly suggesting, “Perhaps we could offer Mr. Tan a place to stay here?”
Qiu Jing nibbled her lip, wrestling with the idea, but ultimately nodded in consent.
Her reasoning was straightforward. If Tan Chong could defeat Liu Shirong, he would be doing them a huge favor; she couldn’t just leave him out in the open.
Yet, her consent would bring its own set of pressures.
If she shared her cave with Tan Chong, rumors would inevitably circulate.
Qiu Hanh, oblivious to these concerns, joyfully exclaimed, “Mr. Tan, my sister agrees! You can stay with us.”
Tan Chong paused, turning to Qiu Jing.
He remembered her previous dismissal and wondered about her sudden change of heart.
A flush crept onto Qiu Jing’s cheeks, and as she felt Tan Chong’s gaze, she quickly averted her eyes, unable to meet his.
“Never mind, I’ll just dig out a spot outside,” Tan Chong decided, rubbing his nose.
The cave’s space was limited, and his presence would indeed be inconvenient.
Upon hearing this, Qiu Jing’s expression grew complex.
She appeared to breathe a sigh of relief, yet there was a sense of disappointment in her demeanor.
“Mr. Tan, carving out a cave isn’t exactly a walk in the park. Those rocks are incredibly tough; it could take a good ten days to half a month to make any headway,” Qiu Hanh said with a furrowed brow, offering a word of caution.
For most, excavating a cave would be a daunting task, but for Tan Chong, it was child’s play. He had a Super Electric Drill stashed away in his storage bag.
?”It’s a minor issue,” Tan Chong assured him with a wink. As they headed outside, he added, “Just pick out a nice spot for me.”
Puzzled, Qiu Hanh shook his head but followed suit.
They roamed the valley, and Tan Chong eventually chose a spot not too far from Qiu Hanh’s own cave. The stone walls here were exceptionally smooth, ideal for establishing a cave.
?”Mr. Tan, perhaps consider a different spot? The stone here is significantly harder than elsewhere. Even with a month of effort, success isn’t guaranteed,” Qiu Hanh advised with a sigh.
It dawned on Tan Chong why there were no other caves in this area—the stone was exceedingly hard.
“No need to change; this spot will do.”
Tan Chong smiled, retrieved the Super Electric Drill from his storage bag, and began fitting an Energy Stone into it, all under Qiu Hanh’s amazed gaze.
“Mr. Tan, what on earth is that contraption?” Qiu Hanh asked, his eyes wide with curiosity as he noticed the peculiar device in Tan Chong’s hand.
“It’s the Divine Artifact specifically designed for boring holes.”
?With a sly grin, Tan Chong pressed the Super Electric Drill against the stone wall. To their amazement, the seemingly impenetrable stone crumbled effortlessly under the drill’s force, as if it were made of paper.
“My goodness!” exclaimed Qiu Hanh, utterly astounded.
