Ye Yikun looked at Ye Leng’an sitting across from him, and a glint flashed in his eyes. “I have your lanugo.”
As he spoke, he studied Ye Leng’an, gauging her reaction.
Ye Leng’an remained indifferent after hearing that, as if unsurprised. She calmly said, “I see. So during the Elite Competition when I competed against Ye Wanwan, you were the one who interfered, causing me to be immobilized for a while, right?”
Seeing Ye Leng’an’s calm demeanor, Ye Yikun felt both admiration and pity. “Smart,” he remarked, “but clever ones often meet early ends.”
Frowning at Ye Yikun’s words, an ominous feeling rose within Ye Leng’an. However, before she could dwell on it further, a wave of dizziness overcame her, and she lost consciousness.
As Ye Leng’an lay unconscious, a dark look flashed in Ye Yikun’s eyes.
At the Huangfu family, Huangfu Ruiling looked impatiently at Master Zhongyu and Master Murong seated there, his expression already quite sour.
Yet the two seemed oblivious, continuing to prattle on endlessly about the Enforcement Team, without any real point.
Huangfu Ruiling suddenly felt a sense of panic, as if sensing something amiss. His sharp gaze fell on the two. “What’s the real purpose of your visit today?”
The abrupt question caught Master Zhongyu and Master Murong off guard for a moment, but seasoned as they were, they quickly regained composure.
“What do you mean, Master Huangfu? I don’t understand,” said Master Zhongyu, his expression unchanged. “We came today to discuss matters about the Enforcement Team with you.”
“That’s right,” Master Murong chimed in. “Master Huangfu, don’t you think the current Enforcement Team has become too arrogant, not even showing the top ten families any respect? Don’t you have any thoughts on this?”
“No,” Huangfu Ruiling said flatly. “So you should leave. Whether you want to do this or contact someone, it has nothing to do with me.”
This response clearly displeased the two family heads.
Ignoring them, Huangfu Ruiling stood to leave.
Seeing this, the two exchanged a glance before quickly stepping forward to block his path.
Staring at the two obstructing his way, a chill emanated from Huangfu Ruiling’s body. When he looked at them, his eyes were utterly devoid of emotion. “Move.”
Master Zhongyu and Master Murong froze in response, a chill creeping up from their feet, their bodies growing cold and limbs stiff.
They knew of Huangfu Ruiling’s profound cultivation, yet never imagined a simple word could instill such dread.
The two subconsciously made way.
Huangfu Ruiling strode out without another glance, his steps quickened, bearing an urgency, unlike his usual indifference.
Only after his figure vanished did Master Zhongyu and Master Murong finally breathe a sigh of relief.
“Master Murong, can we really just let Huangfu Ruiling leave like this?” Master Zhongyu narrowed his eyes. “What about Old Master Ye…”
“We’ve done what we can,” Master Murong interjected, avoiding eye contact. “Haven’t we stalled enough? We can’t exactly restrain Huangfu Ruiling to keep him here.”
Hearing this, Master Zhongyu fell silent
With Huangfu Ruiling gone, they departed shortly after without delay.
Huangfu Ruiling felt a sudden pang in his heart, a sense that something was amiss. An intuition whispered that Ye Leng’an was in trouble. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have this unsettling feeling.
In no time, Huangfu Ruiling reached the Ye family’s doorstep, practically barging his way in.
Ye Hongxuan was promptly informed of Huangfu Ruiling’s arrival and hurried to the front hall, where he found him striding in with a fierce aura.
Surprised by Huangfu Ruiling’s look, Ye Hongxuan felt a sinking feeling, sensing trouble for the Ye family.
“Master Huangfu!” Ye Hongxuan interjected, blocking his path. “This is our home. Are your actions necessary? I understand your family’s power, but bullying us isn’t right, is it?”
“Where is she?” Huangfu Ruiling asked coldly, his gaze piercing.
“She?” The abrupt question momentarily stumped Ye Hongxuan.
“An’an,” Huangfu Ruiling stated bluntly. “Didn’t she come here? Where is she now?”
“Ye Leng’an is in my father’s courtyard,” Ye Hongxuan replied, relieved that Huangfu Ruiling was seeking her. “I’ll have someone fetch her immediately.”
But Huangfu Ruiling was too impatient. “I’ll go myself,” he declared, already on his way.
Ye Hongxuan started to say something but decided against it. He could only follow and show the way. He couldn’t grasp why Huangfu Ruiling was so agitated. Even if Ye Leng’an hadn’t returned to the Ye family, she was still part of them. Why would they harm one of their own?
Yet Huangfu Ruiling couldn’t shake his unease.
Guided by Ye Hongxuan, they soon reached Ye Yikun’s courtyard, the grandest in the estate. Yet, despite their arrival, Huangfu Ruiling, his expression dark, paid no heed as he turned to Ye Hongxuan and asked, “You said she was here, so where is she?”
