Chapter 46 Meeting
Chapter 46 Meeting
"Who was it?" asked Connor as he came out to the kitchen to join me, seeing that I had a serious expression.
"Karim."
"What does he want?" asked Connor, who still didn't like him after their altercation.
"Not much. He was just telling me that he missed you."
"Come on, man. Seriously. Is there something I should know?"
"Yes, he's meeting a Wolf Gang Executive and was just letting me know in advance," I revealed to him.
"You say that as if it's a small deal."
"It is a small deal. For now, we just need to build and prepare, and when the time comes, I'll be relying on you, Connor," I said to him as I patted his back.
Nodding his head, he didn't seem afraid or fazed, as he clenched his fists.
"It's not time yet. For now, go home, clean up, rest and get ready for work tomorrow. After you're finished work tomorrow, leave your sisters with my mother and come over to the dojo."
"Yeah, you're right. I'll get going then."
"Actually, wait a short while. Let me clean myself up, then I'll drop you guys off."
"Are you kidding me? Do you think I can't even take my sisters home safely?"
"It's not that Connor. I was going out anyway, so I might as well go at the same time as you."
"Don't tell me you're..."
"No. Don't worry. I'm not planning on showing up at their meeting, but I am curious as to what the executive of such a powerful gang is like, and I'll be observing from a safe distance," I answered.
He was clearly against it, but knowing how stubborn I was, he didn't bother trying to change my mind.
"Just be careful, alright?"
"Yeah, don't worry. I'll make sure I'm not spotted," I reassured him before heading to the bathroom.
Showering and putting on another tracksuit, most of my clothing was made up of jogging bottoms and sweatshirts, since it was comfortable and suitable to train in.
While they also conveniently had a hood...
-
"We'll be off then, mother," I said as I went to leave along with Connor and his sisters.
"We? Where are you going at this time?"
"Just for a walk. I'll drop them off, then be back."
"Just be careful alright. You know it can get rough at night."
"Yeah, don't worry about me, mother. Connor will protect me," I reassured her with a smile before departing with Connor.
'Protect you? You're the one that's the monster,' I could tell Connor was thinking.
And, as soon as I left the house, my face became serious.
Connor found it hard to believe that the youth that was jovial, docile and gentle with his mother and the intimidating man before him currently were the same person.
But I just couldn't share my troubles with my mother.
-
"What's the matter?" one of the triplets asked me.
Putting on a smile, "Oh, nothing. I was just thinking about something."
"If you say so."
Walking back to Connor's home, the three little girls were surprisingly quiet and seemed to be tired, and also afraid since it was quite late, but there was nothing for them to be afraid of.
Connor was confident in his capabilities after letting loose for the first time, and with Xavier by his side, who could possibly pose them a threat?
And it wasn't like getting mugged would happen on a daily basis, especially since there were a lot of police roaming around lately because of the incident with the Black Hand Gang.
-
"I'll see you guys tomorrow," Xavier said, bidding them farewell after they reached their apartment building.
Warning him to be careful one last time, Connor tucked his sisters into bed before cleaning himself and also quickly falling asleep, fatigued after the arduous training and laborious work he had completed in the morning.
Meanwhile, Xavier began making his way to the neighbourhood where both Zack and Karim lived.
He made it there a short while before the meeting between Karim and the Wolf Gang Executive was set to begin and started looking for a good place to watch their exchange from.
Not wanting to be too close, but also wanting to have a good view of everything, he decided on watching from an apartment building that watched over the playground that Karim and his friends had fought Connor at.
Climbing up the stairs to the roof of the apartment building, after getting let into the building by claiming he had a delivery for someone in the building, his phone began to ring.
"It's finally time," he said to himself as he answered and rushed to the top.
Karim didn't speak and, placing his phone in his back pocket, he put the call on speaker so that Xavier could hear everything relatively clearly and took a deep breath.
It was hard not to be nervous, especially since he was meeting alone with a dangerous gangster that was armed and with a bunch of his subordinates, but he had to remain calm.
If he showed any signs of being any more nervous than he usually would, he could cause them to become suspicious of them, and that was the last thing he wanted.
Reaching the top of the building, Xavier was wearing a hood, and peeking over the edge, spotted Karim pacing up and down outside the playground as he awaited the arrival of his superiors.
And a few minutes later, multiple blacked-out SUVs pulled up near him and coming out of the car were many heavily armed men that looked around the area first and made sure the coast was clear.
They were also dressed in all black and were well-trained like a military, systematically making sure there was nobody in a close enough range to pose their boss a threat.
Then, after doing so, a man wearing a mask that covered the bottom half of his face came out of the car and even from where Xavier was watching from, he felt danger from him.
"This is intense," Xavier couldn't help but comment, as he remained vigilant and watched everything unfold.
