As expected, before A Miao talked to Lan Lixiao, Lan Qin asked her about it the next morning.

“I don’t know,” Lan Qin shook her head and said, “We have not met her before. I have heard that the Shen family always keeps a low profile in City S.”

Lan Lixiao asked Uncle Fu, “Where is Wenxuan? Ask him to check.”

“Grandpa, do you also like gossip?” A Miao teased him and said.

Shen Xinglan did not stop writing and ignored him. He had to handle so many things since his plans for Jingcheng City had just began.

“When will you run into her for the third time?” Ouyang Jin said, finding it funny, “I think it would be better if you do not meet her so frequently.

“Of course.” Shen Xinglan said, without raising his head, “The Lan family is very shrewd, so we cannot afford to arouse their suspicion. We need to get moving on the business matter to draw their attention.”

Ouyang Jin knew his intention. He wanted to make everyone believe that he befriended A Miao, because she was a member of the Lan family.

Li Nian closed her eyes and felt a soft touch on her fingers, then she heard someone whispering.

“I hear that Miss Elder in the Lan family looks like Shen Xinglan’s late wife. Maybe she has a better chance.”

“The Lan family will not allow their daughter to be a step-mother. Moreover, they don’t need an alliance.”

“What’s wrong?” Someone asked in a whisper, after she left.

Li Nian closed the car door and picked up a mirror, distractedly.

“Are they so similar?” She said, looking at her own reflection in the mirror. She was as beautiful as Lan Miao. She had checked up on some information, and knew Shen Xinglan really loved his late wife.

She had a crush on this man since she met him on the plane. She didn’t think too much then, because she did not know who he was. When she found out, she want to marry him.

“We are well-matched. Lan Miao is nothing.” Li Nian said with a sudden confidence.

It did not matter that she looked like his late wife. A bastard coming from outside is never a good choice for an alliance, if Shen Xinglan wanted to have one. The Li family was more suitable than the Lan family. His daughter would not be a problem. She could handle a two-year-old kid.

“Well…” Li Nian said with a cold smile, “Since you are in my way, you must pay for it. Then you will know that Jingcheng City is not a place for you to stay.”

Lan Heng had also noticed Shen Xinglan, but he was more interested in the fact that A Miao looked like Shen Xinglan’s late wife.

In City S, Yu Sihan threw a candy into his mouth.

It was weird that A Miao had not seen her since the first meeting. It seemed that Li Nian did not attend any of the activities that she took part in.

A Miao was surprised when she met Li Nian.

“Miss Li,” She said and greeted her, “do you like cats, too?”

The salon’s business was about cats indeed. There were cut out models of cat ears everywhere. A group of seemingly innocent rich young ladies sat there, and each of them looked pure and lovely.

“Not so much. I was drawn by my friends.” Li Nian said with a smile, “What about you, Miss Lan?”

“Well, I like cats.” A Miao said honestly.

Li Nian blinked and said, “I want to promote my friend’s business. She has a nice cattery. You can take a look.”

“Okay,” A Miao said with a smile, “let’s go?”

The salon was boring. A Miao gave her opinion, when she left after two hours. They just ate, drank and talked about cat issues, like someone’s cat nest costing tens of thousands of yuan was just garbage, or somebody’s cat had a diamond collar.

She thought, “These young ladies’ lives are so boring, but it seems that they like it.”

“Annoying…” A Miao said to herself and started the car. She knew she would not see Yaya, so she had some complaints.

She did not want to really complain. She knew Shen Xinglan had laid his plans and she should go along with it.

A red sports car drove out of the parking lot slowly. No one noticed that a car across the road followed it stealthily. When A Miao drove on the overpass, a truck in the opposite direction suddenly lost control and traffic immediately came to a standstill.

“What’s wrong?” She slowed down and pulled over immediately. However, before the car stopped, she heard a bang and felt a great force pushing her body towards the steering wheel.

Pfft! The airbag popped out. A Miao was thrown back to the seat, and a sharp pain shot up her shoulders and waist.

“Miss! Miss, are you okay?” Not knowing how long it was, she heard someone tapping on the window.

A Miao opened the car door, and it was a traffic policeman.

“Miss, can you hear me? Don’t move! The ambulance is coming!”

Lan Lixiao walked out of the elevator, with a long face. Lan Qin supported him, followed by Lan Heng, Lan Hua and their families. The Hospital Administrator and a group of doctors walked towards them, scared by this scene.

“How is my granddaughter?” Lan Lixiao rushed to the hospital as soon as he received the phone call. “How could she be in a car accident?”

The administrator dried his sweat and said, “Mr. Lan, Miss. Lan is OK. There are some bruises on her shoulders and waist, but her bones are fine.”

“A Miao! A Miao!” Lan Lixiao shouted as soon as he came into the ward.

A Miao, who was lying on the bed, smiled and said, “Grandpa, I am fine!”

“How can you be okay with such a pale face?” Lan Lixiao said, frightened by her pale face. “Doctor! Where is the doctor?”

The administrator ran over and said, “We are here, Mr. Lan.”
