Chapter 16: The Fairy Realm
The special ability provided by the Fairy Realm's Survivor title was certainly incredible. It would allow him to visit the Fairy Realm for eight hours every week.
However, since he had no idea what to expect inside, he didn't dare to activate this effect carelessly.
He was unsure whether there was a danger or a reward inside, so he at least wanted to experience how he would fare inside the Zombie Apocalypse before thinking of activating it.
Now that he had gained several items that could help him fight any danger, he felt a lot more confident entering the Fairy Realm.
Of course, he was also planning to use all his Item Upgrade Crystals before doing this.
This time, Shane decided to upgrade all his important equipment.
He set the hatchet on the ground and placed 5 Items Upgrade Crystals... Then, he waited for a few seconds to get the message from the system.
However, his guess was wrong. The upgrade didn't require 5 Item Upgrade Crystals! It was more than that!
[ Insufficient number of Item Upgrade Crystal. ]
[ Hint: Rare Rank Items require 10 Item Upgrade Crystal to advance. ]
"So expensive? It was only 1 Crystal for a Common Rank and 2 Crystals for an Uncommon Rank..."
Shane wryly smiled, seeing that the price had grown so much.
He could only sigh at this as he took out more crystals from his Inventory.
'I wonder how those Survivors with no Complete Loot Talent accumulate crystals. They may not even get 1 Crystal in 10 or 20 kills.' Shane mused.
[ Hatchet ( Exceptional ): A deadly axe that can cleave through zombies with ease. It is made of a mysterious metal that glows with a faint blue light, and has a serrated edge. It can kill a zombie with a single hit, and can also cause bleed and stun effects. It is also useful for crafting and survival purposes, such as making fire or building shelters.
Effects: +25% damage against Crawler, Walker, and Runner Zombies, +10% against Spitter Zombies, +15% Critical Chance, +25% Attack Speed
Special Effect:
Ice: The hatchet is imbued with a freezing power that can chill zombies and make them brittle. It has a +40% chance of causing ice damage to zombies, and a +40% chance of slowing them down and making them vulnerable to critical hits. Ineffective against Survivors.
Cost: 30 Spirit Points ]
"A critical chance and attack speed upgrade! And even a Special Effect! Worth it! 10 Item Upgrade Crystals is worth it." Shane felt satisfied with the improvement of his hatchet.
Now, he no longer had to worry that his weapon would fail to kill a Spitter Zombie!
The Ice Effect costs 30 Spirit Points to be activated, but it could definitely be a life saver!
Without hesitation, Shane upgraded his revolver from Uncommon to Rare and from Rare to Exceptional.
He spent 12 Item Upgrade Crystals for that, leaving him only 14 Item Upgrade Crystals in his Inventory.
[ Revolver ( Exceptional ): A six-shot handgun that fires explosive .44 Magnum rounds. It has a short barrel and a metal grip, and can cause massive damage and knockback to zombies with a single bullet. It is loud and flashy, but has a very fast reload time and a low recoil. It can kill a zombie with a body shot, but attracts more zombies with its noise and blast.
Effects: +50% damage against Crawler, Walker, and Runner Zombies, +10% against Spitter Zombies, +15% Critical Chance, +25% Attack Speed
Special Effect:
Burn: The bullet sets the target on fire, dealing extra damage and a high chance of spreading the effect.
Cost: 20 Spirit Points ]
"Awesome!" Shane couldn't help but celebrate as soon as he saw the effects. The Burn effect was definitely a useful effect, especially once the Zombie Wave started.
Then, after calming down, he started consuming all the Spirit Enhancement Potions that he had.
There were a total of 32 of them, so it took him quite some time to drink all of them. Of course, he didn't forget to give all the Blood Samples to the A.I. in hopes of getting a broader Zombie Detection Range.
After doing all of this, he checked his Status once again.

Shane felt satisfied as he reviewed his Status and surveyed his array of equipment.
Although he still possessed 6 Item Upgrade Crystals, he opted to reserve them for a later time.
Securing the remaining granola bars, he tapped his Title and selected the Fairy Realm's Survivor.
[ Do you wish to activate the Title's Effect? ] The system prompt inquired.
"Yes." Shane affirmed.
[ You will be transported to the Fairy Realm. The duration will be 8 hours ]
In an instant, the fabric of space seemed to twist and warp around him.
Just as the message said, he was being transported and it was through some enigmatic form of spatial sorcery.
Whom~
A sudden disorienting darkness engulfed his senses, leaving him feeling lightheaded and unsteady.
When he finally reopened his eyes, a vast meadow stretched out before him, bathed in the ethereal light of a celestial sun.
The grass, a vibrant emerald hue, swayed gently in the breeze, creating a mesmerizing dance of nature's beauty.
The meadow was adorned with a vibrant array of wildflowers, creating a picturesque scene of shifting colors that danced and glistened in the golden light.
"Is this heaven? What am I even supposed to do here?" Shane muttered as he looked in the distance.
Majestic trees could be seen from afar, but no mountains were on the horizon. It felt as if he was inside a sanctuary of serene splendor nestled within the heart of the world.
"Garden of Eden?" Shane muttered as he recalled the fictional garden.
However, his Perception soon caught someone approaching from above.
As soon as he looked up, he saw what seemed to be a mythical fairy!
"Welcome, Lord Survivor!"
