Chapter 197: The New Day
Chapter 197: The New Day
As they were about to fight and kill as many Zombies as they could, something unexpected happened.
They heard the sound of moving branches and rusting of leaves!
Soon, they saw human figures moving nimbly on the trees!
'Is there a nearby Survivor Camp here?' Tessa thought as it seemed that fate had other plans for the two of them.
A sudden, melodic war cry pierced the air, and like a flash of lightning, a group of elves burst onto the scene.
Indeed! As soon as they got closer, Kael and Tessa were able to see their faces! They have perfect skin, long ears, and beautiful faces, even though they were all male!
Their elegant forms were a stark contrast to the grotesque zombies, their movements were quick as if they practiced this thousands of times as they engaged the enemy.
Arrows flew from elven bows with deadly accuracy, finding their marks in the eyes and throats of Jumper Zombies that leaped with futile aggression.
The Spitter Zombies' acid was met with swift dodges and counterattacks, as elven blades hummed through the air, cleaving undead flesh with each graceful arc.
However, because they don't have Kael's healing hands, these Spitter Zombies would still explode!
Bang! Bang!
"Kael… Help them…" Tessa reminded.
"Ahh… Right!"
Kael and Tessa watched in awe as the elves moved like a force of nature—unstoppable and fierce. The forest floor was soon littered with zombie remains, the threat diminishing with each passing second.
The leader of the elves, a tall figure with hair like spun silver, approached Kael and Tessa once the last zombie fell.
"We will be looting all the Jumper Zombies since we killed all of them… You can loot the Spitter Zombies that didn't explode." The leader of the elves said.
This elf was Eldrin, and since he wasn't speaking to Shane, his voice sounded strict instead of humble.
"No. You can just loot all of them. You saved our lives. It's your right to take all of them." Tessa immediately said as she wanted to be on their good side. After all, these elves could be the original residents of this continent! They must have a strong base to survive this long in this zombie-infested world.
They might even possess a vaccine and this excited her!
Kael also nodded his thanks, his relief could be seen on his face.
"Indeed. We owe you our lives…" He said.
"No… You have made it easier for us since the Spitter Zombies no longer explode after you use your skill on them."
Tessa sheathed her daggers, her eyes meeting those of the elven leader…
"We're headed in this direction," she informed him. "Do you think we're going to encounter more zombies in this area? Can you guide us?" Tessa asked.
This time, Thalion finally spoke up.
"Are you Tessa and Kael?"
"Ahh… You know us?" The two were shocked as they didn't expect to be called out so suddenly.
"T-that's us…"
Thalion smiled and nodded at the humans.
"Then, you're heading to the lord's estate. We will be guiding you even if you don't make a request…"
"Lord's estate? You mean…" The two of them finally realized that Shane had sent these mystical beings to fetch them up! The two of them exchanged glances as they felt quite excited being together with such strong allies!
Thalion, realizing that they indeed knew Shane's identity, nodded at them.
With a nod as graceful as a bowing willow, the elf signaled for them to follow.
"We shall escort you," he promised. "No harm will befall you under our watch." As Thalion said this, Eldrin and the others had already finished looting the corpses, even the Spitter Zombies that Tessa and Kael rejected.
And so, with their new allies leading the way, Kael and Tessa resumed their journey to Shane's estate.
The path ahead was still fraught with danger, but together with the elves' aid, it had become a lot easier for them to handle.

In the meantime, As Shane stood on the ramparts of his estate, his gaze fixed on the direction where the elves had left off.
Well, he doesn't have much to do aside from waiting for the official commencement of the next Zombie Wave. There should be a message from the System that would let them know about it anyway.
As he thought of checking the Regional Chat to pass the time, he felt the familiar atmosphere gathering around his estate…
Soon, the air before him shimmered with a mysterious gray fog that would always send him talented people in his territory.
From within the mist emerged a figure, regal and poised, her armor gleaming even in the dim light.
"Ohhh… A female warrior?" Shane thought.
The figure that had appeared was a woman of noble bearing, her hair a cascade of raven locks, her eyes were momentarily confused, but as soon as she realized what was going on, she became focused again. Upon her breastplate was the emblem of probably a noble family she belonged to or used to serve.

'A palisade with several watchtowers and guards… They're even possessing some unknown weapons… This is indeed a Foreign Survivor's territory as the voice said.' The woman thought after analyzing her surroundings.
Her name was Lady Seraph, and she had been a guardian of the Ainz Family before chaos had claimed the continent.
Luckily, the fog had enveloped her just as the undead had breached the castle gates where she fought valiantly, preserving her from certain death.
Years had passed in what seemed like an instant, and now she found herself in this new reality, standing before Shane, the Foresign Survivor she had to assist in order to save this continent.
The fog had chosen him as her new liege, and she felt an inexplicable bond to this place and its master.
"I am Seraph," she announced, her voice carrying the weight of her former station. "Once a protector of kings, now sent by fate to serve you."
