Chapter 280: Teach Me
Chapter 280: Teach Me
Two days would still give them a considerable amount of time to prepare against the expected Giant Zombie.
For now, Shane was given a vacant thatched house and paid for 2 Zombie Cores that were good for one day. Apparently, the Ironclad Imperium was also advertising their low-cost accommodations to the Regional Chat, and if he decided to ask in the chat, there should be several people who could provide testaments for him.
Of course, there was also some chance that he could get robbed or killed while he was staying here. After all, government laws basically do not exist in this Apocalypse World. There weren't any police or organizations that would help him if he got mistreated in this place.
Nonetheless, Shane believed that he could trust these people since his Danger Sense and Survival Instinct weren't telling him to avoid this place.
Lastly, he also had his A.I. Cloud that could monitor his surroundings 24/7, so he wasn't worried even if there were people who would attempt to rob him.
As he was able to refresh himself after a shower using his own water, he changed into new clothes and went to his bed to check his current Store.
'Ahh… It's a straw bed?' Shane frowned as he decided to take out his Single-Size Bed in his Inventory. Then, he also took out his Zombie Repellent Candle as a habit for sleeping outside for several days.
However, realizing that he was inside a shelter, Shane return the candle and just sat on his bed.
'Right… I haven't checked the new items yet…' Shane muttered.
This time, he decided to open his Survivor Store... There were three tabs on this Store, but he first opened the Weapon Store.
After all, the 7-day item should've been refreshed by now.
"Ohh… Is it an Ammunition Day today?"
Shane was surprised to see the first four items.
[ Steel-Tipped Arrow Bolts (Common): Sturdy arrow bolts designed for crossbows, featuring steel tips for improved penetration and damage. These bolts are essential for silent takedowns and efficient zombie elimination.

[ 9mm Pistol Rounds Box (Common): Standard 9mm ammunition suitable for pistols, offering reliable performance and moderate stopping power against zombies. Ideal for close to mid-range encounters, ensuring precision and efficiency. Each box contains 24 rounds.

[ Rocket-Propelled Grenades ( Rare ): High-powered rockets for RPG launchers, delivering devastating explosions and heavy damage to large targets or fortified structures. These rockets are a game-changer in dire situations.

"Whoa…" Shane paused after seeing the four items. Although he doesn't have a host, a Shotgun, or an RPG Launcher, he still feels compelled to waste his money and purchase them.
Then, Shane had an idea.
'I can ask Layla and the others if they have RPG Launchers in their stores.' Shane muttered as he felt that even if he did not have a chance to use it, his Springriver Manor might have a way of using it.
For now, Shane decided to purchase them all.
As for the final weapon item, which was a 7-day availability item in the Store, Shane decided to purchase it without hesitation.
[ Razorback Hatchet ( Exceptional ): A versatile hatchet crafted from reinforced steel, the Razorback Hatchet features a super sharp edge for increased cutting power and a durable handle for precision strikes. This compact weapon is ideal for close-quarters combat and survival situations. It had two mystical effects upon usage.
Price: 350 Zombie Cores
Quantity: 1/1 ]
Finally, he would be able to wield two hatchets at the same time.
Although he also had a similar survivor hatchet since he had obtained a couple of Weapon Gift Packs before, he was more inclined to have a different version of the hatchet for different effects!
This Razorback Hatchet would be perfect for that!
As soon as he bought it, he checked the next tab. The Nourishment Store was where he could find various types of food. They could be a whole meal in a bowl, instant noodles, canned goods, tea bags, healing salve, or some other consumable items.
Since most of them were only 3 to 5 Zombie Cores, Shane would always purchase them since having plenty of food wouldn't just help him but also his future companions.
He had so many recruitment stones in his Inventory after all.
Once he used these stones, he would have to feed them, so having plenty of stocks would be helpful for him in the future.
As for the 7-day item of the Nourishment store, it was an elixir that was quite expensive.
[ Energy Elixir ( Rare ): A revitalizing potion that replenishes 50% of Spirit and boosts mental clarity, allowing survivors to push past exhaustion and stay focused in dire situations. The Energy Elixir could not be consumed multiple times a day to avoid overdose and provide negative effects instead.
Price: 250 Zombie Cores
Quantity: 3/3 ]
It was too expensive since it was only 50% recovery. However, since he had 10,000 Spirit Points, it means that it could recover him as much as 5,000 Spirit Points. That was certainly a lot for him but not for those with only 500 to 1,000 Spirit Points.
'Let's keep it there for now.' Shane thought as he would still think about whether he needed this or not since he had plenty of the Spirit Enhancement Bottles with him. Furthermore, he doesn't even spend that much Spirit Points in a day unless he faces a Zombie Wave.
Finally, he checked the last Store tab, the Random Item Store.
Here, he saw some construction materials, a solar-powered radio, and some familiar items. As for the 7-day item, it was actually a Tier 3 Miner Pants.
Shane decided to purchase this item since a miner here would probably want it. He could sell it for something later on.
On the following day, Stan and his friends, Jorvik and Clint, looked for him to have a meal together. Experience tales at mvl
They also introduced Shane to several people and to Shane's surprise, they seemed so excited to introduce him to some girls in the Shelter!
'These guys…' Shane couldn't help but shake his head as he didn't expect that these people would have such a mood, considering that they might be attacked by the Giant Zombie tomorrow or maybe the day after tomorrow.
'Well, it's not bad getting to know other people.' Shane smiled as he just go with the flow. In any case, he still had plenty of time later this after to set up their defense against the Giant Zombie… Magnus would arrange for the payment for his help once he succeeded in defending this Shelter.
"So… Who caught your eyes? We'll help you." Stan said with a grin on his face.
"Hehe… You're young and handsome, Shane. I'm sure you have a chance on Melissa…" Jorvik said.
"No… Melissa's thirty-three… I can tell that Shane is only twenty-two or twenty-three… I think Angela, Karen, or Ryza would be a better fit." Clint added as they had already started guessing which woman Shane would end up with.
"Wait… I think Shane's looking at that girl… She's only nineteen… She's perfect for him!" Stan said.
The two agreed as they noticed that Shane glanced at a woman named Lysandra.
Lysandra was young, but she had survived the Apocalypse for several days before she arrived at this Shelter. She also didn't want to stay in the Shelter and be protected as she always wanted to go outside and level up to get stronger.
As a matter of fact, she was indeed one of the best combatants in this Shelter.
"Wait… It's not like that… I'm just curious since she's carrying a shotgun, a revolver, and a sword… I think that looking at her is pretty normal…" Shane said as he finished their breakfast. It was a meat soup flavored with milk and mushroom.
The taste was a bit surprising since it really tasted good. It seemed that they had access to salt and various spices as well.
As he said this, Lysandra also glanced at Shane.
Her hair was tied tightly at the back of her head, revealing a perfect jawline.
Shane finished their breakfast and as he pushed the empty bowl aside, Lysandra stood up and approached Shane.
"You look really strong," Lysandra said, her voice low. "Can you teach me how to fight?"
Shane hesitated.
He was curious about her... After all, A.I. Cloud barely sensed her presence. She moved like an assassin.
'Is it her talent—an erasure of existence?' Shane mused as he found this interesting.
Still, he agreed.
"I can teach you," he said. "But it won't be easy."
As he said this, Lysandra smiled even more…
