Chapter 311: Not Forgotten
Chapter 311: Not Forgotten
Shane left Silver or Metal Slime in the Fairy Realm together with Blackie, a Rare Spriggan that came out of the other Pet Egg he obtained…
As for the skewer in his hands, it came from his inventory's Unknown Meat.
He had only washed it in the lake's water and used the main tree's leaves to cover and cook it and it actually turned out really well.
Lysandra then nodded and accepted the skewer from Shane. After taking a few bites, she realized that it was indeed savory meat! It seemed that Shane had gone to find expensive seasonings, and that was why he had disappeared.
She also felt really energetic, as if there was a passive effect from that food.
Anyway, Lysandra then stood up and started gathering her belongings.
As they made their way towards the bridge, Shane noticed something unusual. People were greeting them warmly, their faces filled with admiration and respect.
Some even offered small tokens of gratitude—a piece of bread, a flask of water.
"What's going on?" Shane asked, puzzled by the sudden attention.
Lysandra smiled. Her eyes were filled with a mix of pride and humility.
"The Shelter was attacked by the leader of a Wild Shelter nearby. Its name was Malakar, a necromancer. I used the talismans you gave me to defeat him and his undead army."
Lysandra explained as if it wasn't a big deal, but Shane knew that the battle might've been too close considering the fact that almost everyone knew about her.
Nonetheless, he decided not to pry too much…
Instead, he felt surprised that those Talismans that he had never used yet were actually that strong.
"So those talismans can kill Wild Necromancers, huh?" He muttered, more to himself than to Lysandra.
"They were incredibly powerful," Lysandra confirmed. "Right, I looted mid-grade Orb of Undead Summoning from the Necromancer. I noticed that you were selling low-grade Orbs…"
"Ohh? That's nice… You can summon a middle-grade Undead with that, right? It's better not to sell it. You can use it in case of emergency. I believe you're not lacking with Zombie Cores anyway."
"Got it…" Lysandra gently nodded. Anyway, she was indeed not in a hurry to sell her items.
"By the way, what happened to the Shelter? Did you get the Shelter Crystal?" Shane asked and looked at Lysandra.
However, Lysandra was simply looking back at him, confused by the question.
Shane realized that Lysandra hadn't visited the Shelter of the Necromancer!
Well, not everyone knew about this, so he couldn't really blame her.
"It might've been stolen by someone already, but we can still try and see." Shane muttered to himself as he decided to postpone crossing the bridge.
"We need to visit the Necromancer's Shelter. Do you have an idea where it is?" He asked.
Thankfully, Lysandra chatted with other officers and knew the rough location. She then gave the rough location of the Shelter on the map, and soon, they changed their direction and headed out instead.
Soon, they navigated through the dense forest...
The journey was uneventful as they didn't encounter any Zombies along the way. It seemed that Malakar had cleared this area which wasn't too surprising.
Nonetheless, their senses remained on high alert. After some time, they emerged from the trees and found themselves facing Malakar's Shelter.
The Shelter was surrounded by wooden walls, which were sturdy and imposing. It was actually as high as five meters! That was already a very tall wall!
However, what was threatening about this was the machine gun mounted on the wall, and three watchtowers from a distance…
"Cloud…" Shane muttered as he signaled for his A.I. to conduct a thorough inspection through its sensors.
[ No zombies or human lives have been detected. ]
"That's good…"
Shane and Lysandra exchanged a glance, knowing that caution was still important despite not sensing anyone. After all, there could be traps here.
Shane donned his Shadowcloak, the fabric melding with the shadows around him. He handed the Shroud of Shadows Cape to Lysandra, who wrapped it around herself, feeling the cloak's magic envelop her.
"Let's move carefully," Shane whispered. "We don't know what traps might be waiting for us."
With the help of his A.I. Cloud, Shane identified various traps scattered around the perimeter.
They navigated the ground carefully, avoiding hidden pitfalls and tripwires.
However, as they approached the wall, the machine gun suddenly whirred to life.
"Oh no…" Lysandra paled as soon as she saw it moving!
Although no one was left in the Shelter after Malakar died, its machine gun seemed to be automated!
No wonder no one dared to try and raid the Shelter yet!
The machine gun swiveled, its sensors seemed to have detected their movement. Bullets sprayed towards them, forcing Shane and Lysandra to dive for cover.
The gun then followed their movement as it was programmed to fire at anything that moved.
"Lysandra! Use its Perfect Shadowmeld!" Shane reminded and thankfully, Lysandra was able to activate it without a moment's delay.
On the other hand, Shane used his Shadowcloak's effect to also hide his presence. Paired with his Traceless Breath talent, he could no longer be detected.
Instantly, their presence was erased, their forms blending seamlessly with the shadows.
The machine gun continued to fire, but its sensors could no longer detect them.
After waiting for a while, Shane started to move while he instructed Lysandra to wait.
He was planning to dismantle the Machine Gun first!
"Be careful." Lysandra whispered.
Soon, Shane moved silently and invisibly, closing in below the machine gun…
Then, he closed his eyes and took a deep breath as he had to be quick in his following actions.
As soon as he opened his eyes, he pulled out his Electric Shock Blade and threw it up near the Machine Gun!
Then, before the machine could swiftly fire, Shane used his Telekinesis to control the Electric Shock Blade and struck the machine gun!
Boom!
In an instant, Shane disabled the machine gun! However, he had to make sure that it couldn't repair itself so he immediately climbed up using his Climbing Skill and touched the machine to dismantle it with his Otherworldly Mechanic ability!
