Chapter 113: Interrogation...torture?
Chapter 113: Interrogation...torture?
Arkin grinned into the darkness, his head is heavy and his thoughts slow. He reached inside for his power but all he felt was coldness. "They must have used that dammed potion again."
For days now, they've been giving him a timely dose of mana-eating poison and the ones that affect his senses. He was tied into a chair with thick ropes.
Arkin didn't hate the darkness, but what he wanted was to have a couple of bodies with him; it naturally calms him, and if he's cutting them? The high he gets from that can't be compared to anything.
He grunted softly and shifted in place; he had already told them that they couldn't get anything from him. Not with physical torture, he who cut his own body for fun?
With his senses dulled he didn't hear the sound of footsteps until the door opened and light flooded the room. He winced and covered his eyes. "Can't you..at..least warn before shining that light of yours?" His voice is slurred.
Then his eyes widened when he saw who it was, the Necromancy and the big one that defeated him. On instincts, he sent his aura out to feel Jael, and even with little power left, he felt the chaos Devourer. "Oh, oh, oh! My pet! You brought my pet! Thank you!
Thank you!"
He locked eyes with Jael's. "I will tell you everything, and in return, give me the monster."
Jael shared a look with Temur. "Is he always like this? He looks like a drug addict. A proper physio."
Temur shrugged. "A dangerous drug-addicted physio."
Jael looked at the man tied to the chair one more time, and then he brought out potions from his ring. He walked closer and tipped his head backwards then he dripped it into his mouth. "That'll make you better."
Arkin took the potion without hesitation, why not? They couldn't poison him for the information he might provide them, so he took the red liquid without making a fuss. Besides what else can they give him that they haven't already?
Someone walked in again, and he looked up to see it was that new guy who looked like some royal prince or something. Three people are on him today; he's feeling special.
Suddenly he blinked. "Wait, do you just give me a healing potion right now?"
"I need you to be sane when I interrogate you, but your mana isn't active so there's that," Jael said quietly.
Arkin laughed; with his senses back, he began to think of a way to get out of there. He reached the position of high priest not because he was powerful but for using his head ruthlessly. "How about this, you free me so I can go look for the blood Necromancer for you? You can put some kind of poison or timed explosion on me."
One thing Arkin has learned is not to be afraid of making outrageous offers. There's a high level of stupid people out there after all.
Thayer sighed and went to lean back against the wall, he planned to gain a little from this whole saga. Maybe if they manage to expose the Chaos Cult on this floor and it turns into a large mess with the media, then he can find a way to put the name of his Guild.
It might be a risk he'll have to take because even a bad PR is still a PR. But he wondered if the case wouldn't get swallowed by the Tower Guards with how things were going.
Your journey continues at mvl
He's given up almost all hopes that this bastard will talk, but Jael said he's going to give it another go, and so here they are.
Meanwhile, Jael gave Arkin a flat look. "Are you being sarcastic right now? The moment we let you out of here you'll disappear as if you never existed. Probably join with the Blood Necromancer with all the information you have on us.
"And next time when we meet you'll take us down for sure because you won't underestimate us."
Arkin was silent for a while. "I'll kill them but I won't touch you. How's that?"
"You mean you won't touch me until you get the monster?"
Arkin narrowed his eyes but he didn't deny it. "So what are you going to do? Torture me again? You know that's not working, right? Even that truth potion is useless. Are you going to keep me here?
Why did your friend die?"
He said that to get some kind of reaction but he didn't get the type he needed, no anger or sadness. The two of them gave him a flat hard look.
Then the big one spoke. "The Tower Guards will have you after today. So either way we'll get our information."
Arkin shivered, and his eyes widened. The Tower Guards? That's not good; he felt real fear since he had been captured because he'd heard about how the Tower Guards get information from the people they wanted.
Hell, any high and standard Guild will have a technique for getting information from their prisoners. The only reason he's been able to play with their people is because they are inexperienced. But the Tower Guards?
Jael smirked. "I see you don't like that news. But either way, we'll get our info right now. We don't want our friend's survival to be at the mercy of the Guards."
His eyes darkened. "Let's make a deal, Jael. I'll tell you all I know, and in return, you free me. I'll disappear for good and won't ever show my face again."
Temur took a step forward. "We disagree."
"But why? You don't have a reason to! We both get what we want. Your information and my freedom. That's not too hard to ask for right?"
Jael brought out a bone from his ring. He held the green bone up for him to see, and his smile was smug. "Have you forgotten? You have almost killed us back in that red zone. This is just payback."
