Chapter 130: Heavy Damage (2).

Lightning is a naturally occurring element of destruction that can't be stopped. The reason the {Phantasma} was so scared and afraid of Cain when he used the lightning element, is because the lightning element is the bane of all soul-related magic.

The soul is a very delicate entity that can not survive long outside a container, or body. Using soul magic near lightning was like dancing with death. Although Steve and Vincent could also use the lightning element, their level of affinity wasn't as high as Cain's making them less of a threat to J'orntz.

Since J'orntz was cautious of Cain, he decided to use his most powerful spell, {Elemental Control}. Although devils normally could only use one element at a time, the {Phantasma} was a unique exception.

Like the broodmother, {Phantasma} are special in the sense that some could possess the ability to control no elemental powers at all, while others could possess as many as ten different elemental and paraelemental abilities.

Most of them didn't have mana cores, but rather, soul stones. These soul stones granted them great spiritual power that could either boost their soul magic abilities or grant them the ability to control many elements at once.

J'orntz belonged to the latter category...

The wind began to rumble, and the air turned dry and hot as the devil began its chant. Magic circles began appearing on the ground as well, as huge chunks of earth broke away from the ground and flew up to the sky.

The Phantasma's eyes glowed a deep emerald green as it spoke in the devil's tongue with a thick and heavy voice that dripped with blood...

"Wrath of the devil mountain, shatter the earth as the winds blow to the east, bringing the heat from the scorching planes. With my soul as the anchor, summon the power of the elements to bring about the destruction of the earth in a cataclysmic shower of earth and fire..."

The devil spoke slowly in a low mumble that could be heard by everyone on the battlefield...

"Seems like Lord J'orntz has finally decided to end this battle," Jamiel said as he struck his blades against themselves.

Falanel, who had been attacking for a long time took the opportunity to break away from the battle and face the area where J'orntz and Cain were fighting.

"It seems so... Let's just pray we do not get caught up in the spell. I doubt we have what it takes to bear Lord J'orntz's ultimate spell." Falanel said as he continued with his attacks.

J'orntz's had greater control over wind, fire, and earth elemental mana aside from his natural soul magic, making him a very dangerous entity to do battle with.

The magic circle in the sky glowed green, orange, and yellow, as the respective elements in the atmosphere began to gather rapidly and violently.

The black dust covering the surface of the forest floor billowed up into the skies like the clouds following the harbinger of death. The wind surged violently as the gigantic chunks of earth rose to the sky. Huge flames enveloped the huge chunks of rocks as the wind gathered around the now heavenly conflagration that enveloped the sky above the battlefield.

"Good... God!" Vincent had his jaw dropped as he stared at the huge spell that possessed the power to wipe them out.

"H-how the hell is this devil so strong?!" Steve had an ugly smile on his face as he stared at Cain who still had his eyes locked on to the distance as he tried to put the words of the chant for {Blue Lightning} together.

"There is no way I can endure this thing without dying in the process..." David had a sad smile on his face as he held his shield up and guarded against the devils trying to rip him into pieces.

"None of us have what it takes to endure such a spell. If it releases it successfully, we are all goners." Dan said as he smashed his icy fist into the sky of a devil and gripped hard with the other, crushing its head into a meaty pulp...

Before he was able to let go of the devil, he was attacked by two other devils who smashed their bladed forelimbs into his ice armor so deep, they drew blood.

"Dan!" Hunter let out a yell as he blitzed to Dan's side and struck the devils that attacked Dan with his claws, driving them back in the process.

He let out a threatening growl as he checked on Dan and discovered that the injuries were very severe, but not gmfatal enough to put him out of the battle completely...

"I can still fight. Don't worry... This isn't enough to put me down." Dan said as he cleaned the blood trickling down the corner of his lips.

Hunter, who didn't normally show his emotions on his face had an expression of unbridled fury as he balled up his fist and dug his sharp claws into his palm so hard that it broke his skin and drew blood.

"I'm not holding back anymore..." Blaze said softly as he drew he pulled his spear out of the corpse of a devil lying on the ground beneath him...

"Hehe... I agree." Manny had huge gashes on his face, arms, and legs. He was bruised and battered all over, yet, all that seemed to amplify the crazy aura he usually had around him. Despite his wounds, he still had the same smile he had when they started the battle...

"Yeah... I'm done playing safe." Li said with a frown as he clenched his fist and gazed at Jenny who wore a tired expression on her face. They had managed to kill half of the initial 100 Hulking Behemoths, but they had all reached their limits, especially those who attacked with spells.

Attacking with mana for long periods, they had completely exhausted their mana reserves. Even their MP regen potions had all run out, and they had been forced to take some from the melee fighters in the group.

"Likewise..." Sparks ran across his body as he raised his claw, causing the light from the spell forming above their heads to be reflected on them...

"You guys should wait here... You have done enough." Hunter said as he left the region of David's {Crimson Dome} skill.

"That will be for the best. We should recover before we fight the {Flame Devil}. Be careful..." Susan said as she sat on the ground and closed her eyes. Immediately, a thick layer of light elemental mana covered her body completely.

"Hehe... I ran out of mana long ago, so I'm completely useless now." Steve scratched his head as he also sat down and began recovering his mana.

"I can still assist... Just keep going while I handle that guy." Jenny said with a cold look on her face as she trained her sights on the lightning elemental devil that now had an incredibly infuriated expression on its face.

"That stinking human! Just because of that weapon, keeps making me jump all over the place! Once we bring that barrier down, I'll tear her into a million pieces! Keep attacking!" The {Hulking Behemoth} yelled into the crowd of the remaining devils as they increased their attacks. However, because their numbers had been worn down, the intensity wasn't still as much as it had been initially.

At this time, Hunter, Blaze, Li, and Manny had stepped out of the {Crimson Dome} and stood before the attacking devil army.

"Hm? Seems like they are finally ready to give their lives up. Fire at those four! Do not stop until they collapse into bloody heaps of broken flesh!" Jamiel yelled out once he saw this as he and Falanel rushed forward with their claws ready for blood.

The devil army had only 50 Hulking Behemoths left. Out of the initial hundred, 30 of them were the spell casters, while the rest were the melee combatants.

Although most of the devil army just served as a way to increase their numbers, this didn't change the fact that Cain and the others had managed to destroy an army of 10,000 in less than 12 hours. They had fought for a total of eight hours and had relied on their vast reserves of MP and HP Regen potions for the majority of the fight.

Although there were only 50 devils left, they were all the strongest of the devil army. With low stamina and MP, they would either have to fight to preserve their lives or die trying.

"Burning Heart..." The first to initiate was Blaze...

He had kept his power hidden for so long and now was his moment to show just how strong his resolve and heart were. He was going to put it through a literal test of fire...

The flame element was very violent, and only those who truly understood it could possess the ability to tame and control it. Blaze not only had immaculate control of the flame element, but he also possessed the ability to imbibe it into his body and turn it into the fuel that drove him forward.

Flames capable of turning steel into liquid burst out of his body the next moment as he raised his spear which now looked like an actual star and pointed it at the devil army that now approached them in a renewed frenzy. In their minds, Blaze and the others who had just come out of the area the {Crimson Dome} covered had chosen to forfeit their lives.

However, they couldn't be any more mistaken...

"Gale." A wind and untamed wind surged around Manny as he placed his bloody blades on his shoulders. The wind element gathered around his body and weapons, leaving deep grooves in the ground.

Li had his hands balled into fists as he gripped his gloves hard...

'I don't have as much magic as these monsters, but...'

When it came down to magic or mana capacity, Cain, Hunter, Susan, Evangeline, and the others who were a part of the original group, apart from Dan and David, had incredible amounts of magic power that only Sue and Jenny could compare to.

Li didn't have as much magic power as them, but he made up for it with his incredible control, perception, and versatility.

Sucking in a deep breath, he made his move...

Flames gathered in one hand, and a violent wind in the other. He then proceeded to smash the two others together, creating an explosive sound that rocked the ground beneath them. Although Li could use the wind element, he could also use the flame element, but now as well. However, he had a special skill that combined the two elements to produce something incomparably powerful.

"Plasma Fists, First form..."

'Damn! So hot...' Because he didn't have good control over the flame element, he struggled to keep the spell under control, so he had to deal with the necessary backlash.
